Sony VAIO L Series Touchscreen All-in-One to Launch July 13th 2011

Originally scheduled for release in March of this year, a Sony press release has just confirmed Sony’s new L Series all-in-one touchscreen desktop will be available next month. Also confirmed is the wall-mount option. This desktop doesn’t have to be on the desktop, it can be mounted on the wall (mount sold separately). Sony is marketing this as an entertainment PC that may actually replace the TV.

Sony is talking VAIO notebooks again this morning, and it looks like the company is flexing its obsession with power with an update to the VAIO S-Series. Packing a Core i7 processor - complete with Turbo Boost overclocking - along with an onboard DVD burner, optional SSD, optional AMD Radeon HD 6630 GPU and a 13.3-inch 1600 x 900 display, the bumped S-Series' main charm is the potential for up to 15hrs of runtime.

Have a peek at the image below and tell me what you see. Does that look like a Thunderbolt port to you? According to a "trusted source" speaking with Engadget it is. What's important here, perhaps even more important than the idea that this actually is a port that supports Sony's upcoming Thunderbolt interpretation is that this could mean that Sony is indeed sold on the idea of Thunderbolt and instead of going with Apple's Mini DisplayPort implementation, they've chosen a USB port.

Sony VAIO Hybrid with GPU dock and Chrome OS Tegra 2 ultraportable tipped

Sony is believed to be readying two new notebooks, including a VAIO Hybrid PC with an intelligent docking station, and a Chrome OS VAIO based on NVIDIA's Tegra 2. According to Sony Insider's sources, the VAIO Hybrid PC will, on its own, be a relatively thin Core i7 machine complete with Intel WiDi, SSD storage, HDMI and a 1.13kg weight, along with Intel Thunderbolt just like Apple's new MacBook Pro.

Sony's third VAIO launch of the day is the new VAIO L Series, all-in-one touchscreen desktops packing 24-inch Full HD displays and a new "edge access" system of touch-sensitive shortcuts integrated into the bezel. Packing a choice of Intel Core i5 or i7 processors, NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M graphics and a 1920 x 1080 multitouch display, the L Series also hides a Blu-ray drive and both HDMI input and outputs.

Sony's 14hr VAIO S series may be the company's new mobility maven, but the Sony VAIO C Series promises to be a little more affordable. Sony VAIO S Series: 13.3-inch ultraportable with 14hr runtime

Sony has outed its latest ultraportable range, the 13.3-inch VAIO S Series. Just 24mm thick and around 1.75kg, the S Series can be paired with a slice battery for up to 14hrs runtime, uses up to Intel's Core i7-2620M and 8GB of DDR3 memory (in the Sony VAIO VPC-SB1A9E/B) along with up to a 128GB SSD and AMD Radeon HD 6630M graphics doing double-duty with an Intel HD GPU.

Unnamed Sony VAIO tablet PC Found at FCC

A VAIO Business Group representative has filed a Sony tablet PC today at the FCC, and it's totally full of mystery. Facts known about the tablet thus far are that it connects through WiFi-only with 802.11b/g plus single band n, it comes with several model numbers: PCG-31211L, PCG-31311L, PCG-312xxL meaning it could be released in different colors, with different specs, basically anything. The rest of the details are set to be released on January 20th, which is right past the dates of CES 2010 (Jan 6-9) which is a good indicator it might be previewed there.
