The drive uses USB 3.0 connectivity and has a small, pocketsize chassis. The device is backwards compatible with older USB ports as well.

Toshiba Canvio 3.0 portable HDDs get USB 3.0 update
Toshiba is the latest firm to jump into the USB 3.0 external storage market, introducing the Toshiba Canvio 3.0 with capacities ranging from 500GB to 1TB. As we've seen with rival models, there's not a huge amount differentiating the Canvio 3.0 from previous USB 2.0 versions, beyond the faster, SuperSpeed interface.

The Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex 1.5TB portable drive isn’t the first of the company’s modular external storage we’ve reviewed, but it’s certainly the largest. Proudly billed as the industry’s first 1.5TB portable external drive, the new FreeAgent also boasts a speedy USB 3.0 interface for faster data shuffling. Buffalo debuts Blu-ray USB 3.0 optical drive
If you have a computer with a USB 3.0 port and need a Blu-ray drive without having to crack open the case to install one Buffalo has a new product for you. The new product is the Buffalo USB 3.0 Blu-ray drive. The optical drive can play Blu-ray discs and will burn to Blu-ray writable media all from a USB 3.0 port.

Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex 1.5TB totes USB 3.0
Seagate has updated its FreeAgent GoFlex external HDD range with the industry's first 1.5TB portable external drive. Entirely bus-powered - and so requiring no dual-USB cable or PSU - the new GoFlex comes as standard with the company's USB 3.0 adapter, which is also backward compatible with USB 2.0.
Of course, it also means owners can snap off that adapter and use Seagate's FireWire version or, indeed, slot the drive into one of the various desk docks and multimedia players. Seagate offers a range of these, from the GoFlex Home NAS through to the GoFlex TV HD we reviewed a few months back.

Kingston whips out new USB 3.0 flash drive called DataTraveler Ultimate 3.0

LaCie unveils world’s smallest mobile and desktop USB 3.0 HDDs
LaCie has been making HDDs for a long time and the company has been going small recently with a tiny flash drive called the MosKeyto and the unveiling of two very small USB 3.0 HDDs today. The new USB 3.0 HDDs are the LaCie Rikki and the Minimus. Both of the HDDs promise fast 5Gb/s speeds in small form factors.

Iomega external drives to get USB 3.0 at no extra cost
Iomega has announced plans to shift all of their external hard-drives from USB 2.0 to USB 3.0, with no change in pricing and extra ruggedness thrown in. Starting with the eGo range - which will all get USB 3.0 connectivity by the end of October - and then looking to the Prestige and other lines in Q1 2011, Iomega will also be adding in 256-bit AES hardware encryption; the eGo drives will be capable of withstanding up to 7ft drops, which the company reckons is twice what rivals can manage.
