HTC Smart first-impressions

HTC Smart first-impressions

The HTC Smart has just dropped onto the SlashGear desk, and while this budget BREW handset may not have the same wow-factor as one of the company's more recent Android smartphones like the Desire or Legend, it's interesting simply for representing a push from the company into the mainstream.  Qualcomm's BREW OS keeps things ticking, but on top of that is the HTC Sense UI complete with Friend Stream social network integration.  Check out our first-impressions after the cut.

iPad WiFi+3G unboxing

iPad WiFi+3G unboxing

Early adopters and the terminally impatient bought Apple's iPad WiFi when it debuted on April 3rd; was the sensible plan to wait until the iPad WiFi + 3G, which went on sale yesterday?  It's too early to answer that question, but we have a 3G-enabled iPad in hand and an unboxing to share.  More after the cut!

iPad Camera Kit finally in buyers’ hands

The first iPad Camera Connection Kit we've seen in the wild has apparently turned up for a quick unboxing demo, courtesy of iPad owner Jerrod H.  His photos show the two dongles themselves - one USB, the other with an SD card slot - together with an image of the import process and another of the iPad offering to wipe the transferred images from the memory card.

Apple MacBook Pro (Core i7) mid-2010 unboxing

Officially launched yesterday, Apple's Core i7 15-inch MacBook Pro has arrived on the SlashGear testbench and is crying out for an unboxing.  Sticking to the same unibody aluminum style of its predecessors, the new MacBook Pro throws out the old Core 2 Duo CPUs and replaces them with a choice of Core i5 and Core i7 chips paired with NVIDIA GeForce 320M graphics.

HTC HD mini unboxing

HTC HD mini unboxing

It's the last of HTC's trio of devices from MWC 2010 and, dare we say it, it's perhaps the least anticipated.  Still, the HTC HD mini has the potential to make a fair few fans, with the capacitive touch technology of the wildly popular HD2 shrunk down into a far more pocket-friendly package.  Check out our video unboxing, some comparison shots with the HD2, and a few first-impressions after the cut.

Hercules eCAFÉ EC-1000W Review

Hercules eCAFÉ EC-1000W Review

In the grand scheme of netbooks, Hercules probably isn't a name you associate with budget ultraportables; the company is taking their first step into the market with the eCAFÉ EC-1000W. A 10-inch Atom N270 machine, there's little on the spec list that makes the EC-1000W stand out among the rank and rile, so is this yet another me-too model or a netbook worth considering? Check out the full SlashGear review after the cut.

Vertu Constellation Ayxta $7k+ cellphone gets unboxed

What does over $7k's worth of cellphone get you?  If you're looking at the Vertu Constellation Ayxta then the answer is plenty of stainless steel, leather, a 2.4-inch HVGA display and the sort of functionality you'd be able to find on a basic Nokia.  That's because the Constellation Ayxta falls under Nokia's "luxury" wing, and now we know of at least one person who has bought one, Drew over at Gear Diary.

JooJoo arrives, is unboxed, is really real!

Conspiracy theorists start your engines: either the JooJoo really is shipping, or Fusion Garage have crafted a special unit just for Engadget to unbox and are sitting, sniggering behind their hands at our ongoing gullibility.  Mere days before the iPad is set to hit shelves, the contentious JooJoo has finally arrived and - going by the demo video which you can see after the cut - it even works, too.
