The ultra slim laptop is priced starting at $999, but Dell has thrown in a surprise freebie---a complimentary T-Mobile 4G Hotspot device that includes 90-days of free service without a contract. Manuals for Dell's XPS 13 Ultrabook were leaked and quickly pulled yesterday, reminding us to watch out for its launch sometime later this month. We saw the pre-production XPS 13 last month and were promised that it would be the the "world's best ultrabook," being "the smallest, the most powerful, the most aesthetically pleasing, the best to touch, the best at being enterprise-ready." Lenovo IdeaPad U300e ultrabook revealed and detailed

There's a brand new ultrabook this week as Lenovo steps up to the plate once more with its IdeaPad U300e. This laptop has a 13.3-inch display, comes with an Intel Core i5 processor in its most basic build, and has a lovely $959 price tag attached to it. This device's display has a 1366 x 768 pixel resolution and the unit is also able to connect with HDMI output, Wifi for web, and Bluetooth. Blockbuster On Demand coming to Samsung gadgets

Samsung has inked a deal with Blockbuster to deliver on-demand streaming movie and TV shows to Samsung smart TVs, ultrabooks, smartphones and tablets later in 2012. The service will hit Samsung hardware in the US, UK and across Europe in the first half of this year, according to Smarthouse, while other regions, including Australia, will have to wait until the second half of 2012 before they see it. Apple may be coy on touchscreen MacBooks, but PC manufacturers are tipped to be gung-ho on touch-enabled Windows 8 ultrabooks, with a range of form-factors and designs expected later in 2012. Lenovo, Asus and Acer are all said to have finger-friendly models in the pipeline, DigiTimes reports, though limitations around hinge design have apparently forced some creative thinking in what each company's version will look like. Fujitsu's computing plans for 2012 have been revealed in a new roadmap, with a performance tablet with detachable keyboard due in September, several ultrabooks, and an Android slate in June. Two ultrabooks are in the pipeline for May, the roadmap Fujitsu showed to imidoresc confirms, followed the next month with a "mainstream Android media tablet" that could be the Fujitsu Arrows Tab we played with back at CES. After the constant bombardment at CES last month, it's hard to deny that Intel's Ultrabook spec hasn't hit its stride. And while most are hitting the $1000 mark (for base models, and with a few exceptions) the valuable perks they add in portability and battery life have made them a few fans - including us. Unfortunately, they aren't likely to budge on the all important sticker price for at least another year: DigiTimes reports that ultrabook hardware suppliers are having a hard time lowering the price of components, and the total cost for the skinny laptops is unlikely to shift significantly until 2013. Apple forced Pegatron to dump ASUS in ultrabook snub say sources

Apple has strong-armed its MacBook Air manufacturer into refusing to construct ultrabooks for rival ASUS, with Pegatron being given a Cupertino ultimatum to pick between the two accounts. Apple was reportedly frustrated by the resemblance of the ASUS Zenbook range to its own ultraportable, China's Commercial Times reports, particularly in terms of the exterior design which uses a unibody construction. One of the more exciting ultrabooks that we spotted at CES 2012 was the Envy 14 Spectre, HP's high-style and low-weight addition to its ENVY line. The ultrabook made a good impression thanks to is unique Gorilla Glass top, 1600x900 LCD and a compact body that crams a 14-inch screen into a size usually reserved for 13-inch laptops. The Ultrabook world is continuing its rise to glory as the Acer Aspire S3 (here with the Core i7 processer inside) runs the thin show at .68 inches at its thickest point. This is by no means the thinnest notebook on earth, nor is it the Ultrabook with the most impressive set of specifications, but this relatively basic (if any Ultrabook is basic) model has a stack of features and a full package that will satisfy any general use owner.
