LG to introduce TVs with quantum dot technology at CES 2015

LG Electronics has announced plans to reveal a new 4k Ultra HD television using quantum dot technology at CES 2015. By incorporating the new technology, LG says its new televisions give consumers a wider color palette than previously available, as well as better color saturation in comparison to ordinary LCD televisions. In addition, the new televisions using quantum dot technology will be available some time in 2015. Says LG's In-kyu Lee, "Quantum dot's vibrant and vivid color reproduction capabilities brings LG’s LCD TVs to the next level when it comes to picture quality."

Amazon will offer Ultra HD streaming free for Prime members

If you’ve got a high-end TV and Amazon Prime, you’re going to like this news. Earlier this year, Amazon announced a deal to bring 4K Ultra HD programs to Prime members. In collaboration with Warner Bros., Lionsgate, 20th Century Fox, Samsung, and Disney, Amazon’s goal was to be the class-leading provider of Ultra HD content. They faced stiff competition from the likes of Netflix, but Amazon just confirmed they’re not going to charge Prime members for Ultra HD content streaming. At all.

First reaction among those setting eyes on Apple's new iMac with Retina 5K Display after it was announced yesterday was typically along the lines of "Wow": even Tim Cook couldn't resist the charms of the 14.7m pixel all-in-one, and he knew it was coming.
