The folks at Logitech have announced the newest pair of custom-tuned earbuds on the market with Ultimate Ears Personal Reference Monitors. With customized earbuds being all the rage amongst those looking to slam audio directly into their brains in as precise a way as possible, these $1999 Ultimate Ears brand monitors have been set up quite high on the pedestal. Each set of Personal Reference Monitors is brought up to the exact set of specifications that your ears want and need with a “Personal Reference Tuning Box” so you know you’ll have no less than an impressive journey even before the buds are blasting your skull contents.

The Tuning Box you’ll be using to make your Personal Reference Monitors divine works with low, medium, and high frequency channels for you to adjust across a three-way crossover setup. Philippe Depallens, vice president and general manager of Wearables at Logitech let the world know that these buds are made to tend to only the most hardcore of audiophiles.

“There are some people out there – and we’ve met many of them over the years – that know exactly what they need and want in terms of their sound signature. Our new, handcrafted Ultimate Ears Personal Reference Monitors are designed with these people in mind. The Personal Reference Monitors take custom in-ear monitors to a new level of personalization – creating an audio experience tailored to each individual listener.” – Depallens

These monitors feature 26 dB of isolation and passive noise cancellation and also work with wireless transmission systems as well as essentially any audio device you’ve got on hand. You’ve got a three-way crossover circuit, a five-armature design, and triple-bore sound channels so you know you’ve got the finest audio quality in all regions of your eardrum area.

This wave of Ultimate Ears Personal Reference Monitor have found custom fine-wood facebplates available and come equipped with RewardTag. Should you ever lose your Monitors out in the real world, anyone who finds them can return them through the RewardTag system and grab a reward for doing so. Logitech have also released a list of top-tier music personalities who use UE Monitors here: [Deftons to The Police!] – notice the irony of 50 Cent being on this list.

These customized earbuds will be available throughout the USA starting in June for a suggested price of $1999, and will be popping up first in New York, NY, Nashville, TN, Irvine, CA and Los Angeles, CA.

Logitech has taken the wraps off of its first AirPlay compatible audio system, the Logitech UE Air Speaker, a WiFi-enabled streaming all-in-one. The $399.99 UE Air Speaker pulls uncompressed audio from your iPad, iPhone, iPod touch or computer, but also supports directly docked devices – and recharging – in its pull-out bay. Meanwhile, the “UE” Ultimate Ears branding promises superlative audio quality.

There’s also a 3.5mm audio input for third-party audio sources, and your iPhone or other iOS device operates as a remote control. What you don’t get, despite the WiFi, is support for non-AirPlay streaming unfortunately, which means Android users are out of luck.

Aesthetically, Logitech is pleased as punch with the UE Air Speaker’s piano black housing and curvy casing. Considering the price – and the fact that it’s up against the B&W Zeppelin Air with its luxury appeal – that’s something the company can’t afford to skimp on.

Logitech has come up with a new, proprietary design with three balanced armature speakers, and that’s paired with a rugged low profile, low distortion cable, dual acoustically tuned sound channels and multiple passive crossover points. They’ll also finish them to your custom design, though don’t be surprised to see the price climb over the $1k mark if you take them up on the offer.

I have used consumer earphones from Ultimate Ears before and found them to be very good. The headphones I used from the company had great bass and sound quality. I bet the companies custom monitors for professional musicians would sound even better. Ultimate Ears has unveiled its new 18 Pro custom monitors today.

The 18 Pro monitors are the first set from the company to have six speakers inside the earpieces. The monitors will provide excellent sound quality and reduce ambient noise by 26dB. Ultimate Ears claims 75% of the worlds touring artists use their monitors.

The design uses six speakers with four-way crossovers. The earphones are tuned acoustically and electrically and feature patent-pending triple-sound channels and a low distortion cable. Each channel has a filter to keep frequencies separate. The 18 Pro monitors require a custom mold from an audiologist to be built. They sell for $1350 and for an additional $50 an ambient noise feature can be added.

Ultimate Ears recently developed a range of iPhone and iPod earphones, aimed more at the mass market than their traditional customers. However they are best known for custom or semi-custom earpieces, which can be moulded to suit the user’s ear canal and cost up to $1,200.

The deal is expected to close this month. No details of management or employee changes have been released, although the announcement did suggest a focus on leveraging Logitech’s “worldwide distribution network and operational efficiencies” to drive Ultimate Ears sales.

However, if you make more money sometimes you want top of the line equipment. Especially ones that the average Joe generally has issues snagging. These Ultimate Ears UE-11 Pro earphones have all the features and the price to go with it.

The earphones have four speakers in each ear and has an in-ear “speaker configuration of four proprietary balanced armatures with integrated, electrically and acoustically tuned passive three-way crossover.” Basically that means they have a really awesome sound quality.

It also has 26dB noise isolation (to block out all that background noise), and a two-driver subwoofer. The earphones will cost you $1,150. Giving me the argument that my headphones didn’t cost as much as others I’ve seen.

These are quite possibly the best headphones you can get that still fit in your pocket. Sure, you could get some Sennheisers or some Bose headphones, but they are going to be large, and they probably still won’t sound as good unless you spend a few grand on them.

For the money, you probably can’t get a better product. They’ve been available for some time now and they cost a mere $399.99.

But its nice to see a pair of high end ear buds finally made for the iPhone that are offering up all the same features and the buds included with the iPhone.

So you have the Ultimate Ears, which are on par with Shure, maybe even a little better depending on how you ask, and you have the in-line controls, and then there is a microphone built in somewhere along the line, I don’t think there is much more you could ask for. They are made from aluminum, and they use a single armature to give you the best possible audio experience.

Oh, and the in-line controls don’t just handle the music functions, they also handle calls, well, at least as far as answering them and hanging up. You can get yourself a pair for $149.99.

$1150!! I still can’t stop obsessing over the cost of these things! Yeah sure, you can’t even afford a physical system that included 4 subs, 2 mid ranges, and 2 tweeters for less than that, let alone being able to divide all that by two and then cram on half in each ear, but still.

They are available now I assume (for $1150 I better not have to wait) for the astronomical price of $1150. If I had to guess, you probably cant buy them from any retailer other than direct from Ultimate Ears. Oh yeah, and should you be able to afford a pair of aural-bliss’s they also come in different colors and designs with the option of monograms as well. The exchange of cash for earphones might involve a Brink’s truck, some heavily armed guards and a metal protective case for the merchandise.
