NASA boosts 4K desires with NASA TV UHD

Each time a new TV technology comes to market we end up with a chicken or the egg situation. Consumers don’t want to purchase 4K UHD TVs because there isn't much in the way of content to watch on them. Since consumers aren't buying many UHD TVs, content creators aren't keen on making content to support the resolution. NASA is stepping up to the plate and giving science and space fans a great reason to buy 4K.

Toshibal Satellite Radius 12 convertible laptop flaunts 4K

Following the announcement of what Microsoft is calling a "digital notebook" (that is, not a Surface Pro clone), Toshiba is also unveiling its new Satellite Radius 12 convertible laptop. While such laptops aren't exactly rare these days, the Satellite Radius 12 boasts of a specific combination that Toshiba claims is a world's first. To be precise it is the first Windows 10 12..5-inch convertible laptop that boasts of an Ultra High Def resolution of 4K pixels. NASA to launch first non-commercial UHD TV channel

NASA has announced a new partnership with Harmonic that will result in the first non-commercial Ultra-High-Definition (UHD) television channel in North America. Harmonic is a global company offering video delivery infrastructure, and NASA, of course, is no stranger to 4k content — most of which presently goes to the space agency’s YouTube channel. The new channel will be called NASA TV UHD.

Xiaomi’s smart Mi TV 2S is almost ridiculously thin

It seems that the "thinnest" craze from smartphones have now infected smart TVs. Trying to make display panels seemingly disappear into our living room walls, manufacturers have started to squeeze their TVs to almost insane sizes. The latest to do so is Xiaomi, who has just outed its Mi TV 2S, barely half a year since it launched the Mi TV 2. Comcast dives in on 4K hardware with “Xi4” set-top box

This week the folks at Comcast have decided there's plenty of 4K content out in the wild. Enough, at least, to release a 4K Ultra High-Definition Set-Top Box for consumers. The "X1 set-top box" has been announced on the X1 platform, delivering Xfinity TV costumers with 4K UHD content. For those of you that aren't familiar, "UHD" also means "Ultra-HD", and essentially means the same as the term "4K", or a resolution of 3840 × 2160 pixels across a single screen - your screen, the screen you have in your living room.

Sony has just unveiled another team of Ultra HD Smart TVs, but this time the focus isn't on curves like its rivals in the industry. Check out YouTube’s Ultra HD 4K video experiments at 60 FPS

Super-smooth video is coming to YouTube in the form of 4K 60 FPS video. YouTube is gearing up to be a competitor for Twitch TV, so it needs to be able to replay gameplay clips at the same amazing level of graphics as the actual games. 4K display is becoming the new standard for ultra-real VR headsets like Oculus, and we've seen 4K 60 FPS on the newest generation consoles like the XboxOne and PS4. Unless your device has the capability to run 60 FPS video at a 3840x2160 resolution, you are not going to see these clips in all of their Ultra HD glory.

LG reveals Ultra HD TV spring lineup availability and pricing

LG has revealed both the pricing and the availability of its new 4K Ultra HD televisions for 2015, and chief among them is its new 4K UHD OLED TV, which is set to be available this spring. Aside from the OLED offering, the rest of the sets are 4K LED televisions with different features and price points, all of them also set to arrive this spring. There are a total of six different models, most of which are being offered in a trio of sizes.
