Bungies upcoming sci-fi shooter is getting teased yet again. A new live-action trailer for Destiny has been released, featuring Giancarlo Esposito, who starred in Breaking Bad and is currently starring in NBC’s Revolution. The trailer involves Esposito reading Rudyard Kipling’s The Second Jungle Book to his child, while Destiny CGI clips play in the background.

A passage from the book is read out loud and it describes the characters in the upcoming game, giving us a little tease at who gamers are going to control while playing the game. However, we’re still not given a taste of any gameplay, which has gamers frustrated and wanting more, but it seems Activision will be milking this one out for a while.

The trailer was directed by Jon Favreau, who is best known for directing Iron Man and Iron Man 2, and his style certainly shows in this new Destiny trailer. Of course, though, we still don’t know many details about the game, other than that they’re calling it “shared-world shooter” that looks a lot like Halo, which isn’t too surprising, as the same developer is behind both games.

A look at the trailer reveals that some of the action takes place on the Moon, as well as what looks like Mars, but as you can clearly see a close-up planet in the sky, it looks to be a fictional planet that the developers made up for the game. Overall, Destiny definitely won’t be coming to an Earth near you. The game is set to release on both current- and next-generation consoles sometime in 2014, so don’t expect it to launch alongside the Xbox One or PS4 in time for the Holiday season — you’ll want to put it on your birthday wish list instead.

ASUS posted up a video on YouTube that gives us a tease at what to expect from the company at Computex 2013 this year. The video mostly highlights what the company is all about, and they show off some of their products in the video as well, with a few interesting glances at mysterious products that we haven’t seen before.

Based on how many times they use the word “transform” in the video, we can only assume that ASUS will unveil a new Transformer tablet at Computex coming up next month, and based on the teaser video, it looks to be a smaller form factor tablet of sorts with a stylus that comes with it — tucked in on the bottom-right corner as the screenshot above suggests. It could be one of the 7-inch tablets running Windows 8 that has been recently rumored.

According to the video description, ASUS says that they will be announcing new products “that reimagine the way you interact with desktop PCs, notebooks, smartphones, tablets and more.” We’re not sure if ASUS would announce a product for everyone of these categories, but it’s possible that we’ll see new devices that blend some of these form factors together.

ASUS will be holding a press conference on June 3 for Computex 2013, where the company will officially unveil what they’ve been working on, and based on their cute little countdown that they have posted on their events webpage, that’s only 24 days away at the time of this writing.

It’s finally time to get a good look at the film adaptation of the science fiction novel classic Ender’s Game with the first official full-length trailer for the movie. This trailer is just under two minutes long and has Harrison Ford speaking in what might be the least intense declaration of intent in the history of on-film representations of the military, rivaled only by his admittedly unenthusiastic voice-over for the theater version of Blade Runner. That said, the visuals appear to be bringing a fully prepared vision from director Gavin Hood and producer Bob Orci.

This clip is joined by a Google Hangout that’s taking place starting at 1pm PDT / 4pm EDT and going forward into the afternoon. This Google+ Hangout holds the heads of the film, Hood and Orci, speaking to select members of the public as well as the star of the film Asa Butterfield. This actor portrays Ender in the film which will be released on the 1st of November this year.

Ender’s Game has also seen the start of a viral campaign that will be ushering in information about the plot and the environment which will hold the characters of this science fiction story. This story takes place in the future, a future where a single alien invasion has set our Earth on high alert, allowing a single government system to keep sway over the citizens of our planet while they train children to become future military leaders. These children – Ender included – are part of a future era of humanity in which kids have the potential to become genius-level thinkers in their adolescence.

The film stars Asa Butterfield, Harrison Ford, and Sir Ben Kingsley amongst many new entrants into the major motion picture world. This film is the first official adaptation of the Orson Scott Card novel Ender’s Game, a book which was born of a short science fiction tale told in the pages of Analog Science Fiction and Fact.

Have a peek at SlashGear’s brief timeline of events that’ve recently lead up to this release and be prepared for a flow of information the likes of which we’ve not seen since Prometheus.

This week the folks at Rockstar Games have pushed four new videos for the upcoming multi-platform game release for Grand Theft Auto V. One of the videos takes an all-in-one approach, making a combined effort to show each of the hero characters for the game: Michael, Franklin, and Trevor. Each of these characters will be playable by the user in the game as it’s released in the near future – this sort of playability shows Rockstar’s understanding of the gamer in our modern gaming market today: they like choices!

With the first and all-encompassing trailer, Rockstar makes use of YouTube’s ability to jump back and forth through videos and to and from the other three videos so that the viewer will be able to pick and choose their experience before the game is released to the market. The option is also given to watch the three videos all the way through – this one long video is also a combination of the three videos, one on top of the other.

Needless to say, these videos are all NSFW – Not Safe For Work in the least bit (depending where you work, of course).

The first of three presentations surrounds Michael, a fellow who has a family and a home life that’s not especially fantastic. He’s having a mid-life crisis and his wife has cheated on him. Also he’s prone to destroying vehicles and massive amounts of violence. Of course. His experience is outlined by the song Radio Gaga as performed by Queen.

Franklin is up next, his storyline existing in the gang-banger universe, full of gunshots and police traps, trophy guard dogs and what very well may be some drug dealing. Franklin appears to be as dissatisfied with his life situation as Michael, only Franklin wants to get out of the violent world while Michael wants to get deeper.

Finally there’s the character Trevor. He’s a drug dealer who is a very, very bad man. He works with Michael and Frankin, it seems, and it would appear that his satisfaction with the world is based entirely on very bad things. The gamer can expect the cinematics for Trevor to be very NC-17, without a doubt.

The game Grand Theft Auto V will be coming to stores on September 17th, 2013, and will be available for multiple platforms. At the moment it would appear that the PlayStation 4 and next-generation Xbox will not be supported (at least at the outset), but may be in the future. Of course those consoles wont be out for a while anyway – no worries!

If you want to know what’s going on in the Star Trek movie coming out near the middle of May, you’ve got two options today. You first option is to wait until May 17th and go to your local movie theater for some up-close-and-personal action like a normal, decent person. Your second option is to watch the newest trailer released for the film today, complete with more spoilers than you’ll feel clean about having watched.

What you’re about to read may make you cry – it’s riddled with what you might consider spoilers, or what you might consider near-spoilers that simply take the film to a new level of “must see” in your mind. The first big item revealed in the trailer released this week is the fact that the ship you’ve seen crash-landing into the water in previous trailers is, indeed, the Enterprise.

What you’ll find here is the markings of the one and only NCC-1701 A herself plummeting toward the planet Earth. You’ll also see the ship having gone into battle against our newest enemy, finding a much larger ship with essentially the same build facing off against the Enterprise, and that ship rising from the water after its crash. So you know the whole plot by now, right?

This film will be released in just under a month’s time and there, at last, you’ll find yourself seeing the full truth. Have a peek at our Star Trek tag portal for more information on the Star Trek Into Darkness release and stay tuned for the final drop!

This week at the 2013 Game Developer’s Conference a couple of mysterious trailers from the past few weeks have been combined by the folks at Kojima to create Metal Gear Solid V. This is the first time the game has been officially revealed as existing, while two trailers – “The Phantom Pain” and “Ground Zeroes” – were both actually part of a series of pieces leading up to this final first push. Metal Gear Solid V (or Metal Gear Solid 5, if you prefer), is loaded and ready for action.

What you’re seeing here is the trailer shown on-stage today courtesy of Hideo Kojima – the presenter at hand, mind you, was wearing a bandage around his head and a t-short that read “Phantom Pain” as he did so. None too subtle! If you don’t see it here already, you’ll soon be having a peek at some more gameplay as well.

As far as the title Ground Zeroes goes – that’s just another piece of the game’s plotline. According to TheSixthAxis, we’ll be seeing Ground Zeroes late in the game while The Phantom Pain will be a bit of a prologue sort of presentation. For those of you wondering, that’s actor (and again voice actor) Keifer Sutherland helping Snake out of the hospital, and the band Garbage doing the soundtrack we’re hearing thus far.

Here you’ll see The Phantom Pain as revealed at the 2012 Video Game Awards – remember and freak out accordingly!

Also be sure to remember the greatness that was – and will be – Ground Zeroes in its first trailer here:

Stay tuned as we find out more information than you can handle about this futuristic blast-fest and dive deeper into tapping on windows and walls than you’ll ever have wanted to go! Check the timeline below for more Metal Gear Solid action as well!

It’s time drop a couple of claws into the first full-length trailer for The Wolverine, the next chapter in the Hugh Jackman saga surrounding one of the most wild characters in the Marvel Comics universe. Here in this series of revelations (otherwise known as SPOILERS) we find Wolverine, also known as Logan, living further into the future than we’ve yet gone with Marvel on-screen thus far. We see there that his hero is offered thanks from a man whose life had been saved by Wolverine, offering him a gift for his generosity.

Of course with such plot elements finding their way into the trailer itself, we must assume that Wolverine’s trip to Japan happens rather early in the movie. With the man finding his love in Jean Gray lost in a crumpled photo and and reborn in the woman you Wolverine buffs might recognize, he’s brought to the land of the blood red sun where we’ll certainly be seeing some rather emotional moments. No worries though, there’ll be plenty of sword fighting to be had.

When you dive into the Wolverine story archives, you find a massively expansive timeline and versions of the truth – in the comics, that is. If you’re talking about the film series, we’ve still got a lot of questions about how everything in Logan’s life will have happened – and will happen in the future. With this movie it would appear that those with the rights to the Wolverine name have decided that he’ll survive well beyond the lives of his X-Men pals – we’re not expecting many, if any, crossovers here in this installment.

This may well make for a less-than exciting set of battles in future X-Men-centric films – at least for this particular character. What fun is it if we know he survives?

This film will be hitting theaters in July – this international trailer reveals that internationally you’ll be grabbing your seat on July 26th! Have a heart and see Wolverine chop his way to mortality courtesy of a man with a fabulous set of magical science skills this summer – and let us know how it goes!

What you’re about to see is a series of clips from a trailer for the next Wolverine (Marvel Comics) movie starring Hugh Jackman and one whole heck of a lot of swords. This movie will take place largely in modern-day Japan where our best beastly buddy will take on evil in a rather ancient sort of way. The trailer, you’ll find, offers very few clues as to what we’re going to see in the film – other than many, many fights and a whole lot of bladework going on.

This film has had a couple of “moving posters” revealed this week as well. The first shows the man whipping out his claws in a rainy day situation on a street, while the other shows Wolverine discussing his Batman-like stance with the wind. Have a peek first at the louder of the two posters here, then let yourself reflect on how Batman and Wolverine were paired up in the 1990s for a comic series that had them eventually converge into one being – name that comic label!

This much more Dark Knight-like moving poster is the “international” model in which you’ll once again understand that we’re headed to Japan. This fabulous environment will be the place where Logan fights not just with his claws, but with a katana as well. His mind and body and spirit will be tested as well, etcetera, but the blood will be there. Oh yes, there will be blood aplenty.

Finally have at this lovely Vine video and cry because it’s so very, very short. You’ll be able to see the full version of this trailer on the 27th of this month while the movie will premiere on the 26th of July!

We heard back in February that the next Assassin’s Creed title would be arriving sometime in the future, and earlier this month developer Ubisoft confirmed that Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag would be the next installment in the series. Finally, the first gameplay trailer for the game has been released, and it gives gamers an idea of what they’ll be in for.

We saw the official launch trailer earlier when the game was confirmed, but that specific trailer was nothing more than cutscenes. This time around, we get to see actual in-game footage. The trailer features our new assassin, Edward, and his adventures on the high seas. We get to see a lot of action, including some underwater scenes, as well as the expected cannon shootouts with enemy ships.

Of course, we saw some leaked screenshots earlier this month that hint at what to expect from the game, but it’s nice to finally see the game in action. The graphics look pretty great, and the detail is quite outstanding. The underwater scenes look especially good, and we’re guessing those will be a huge hit when the game eventually releases.

The game will launch on the PS3, Xbox 360, PC, and the Nintendo Wii U on October 29 in the US, with the UK getting it on November 1, and the rest of Europe getting access on October 31. The game will also launch on PS4, but no release date has been determined for that version. Furthermore, if Microsoft ends up announcing its next-generation gaming console at some point this year, we should expect the new Assassin’s Creed installment to be available on that console as well.

If you’re all about the next Star Trek movie “Into Darkness”, you’ll be more than pumped up about the newest full trailer, stacked to the brim with no fewer explosions than you’ll need to blow your eardrums out. What we’re still not sure of is who this enemy of our friendly protagonists is. What we ARE sure of is the fact that, whether or not we’ve heard of this bad guy before, we’ll be flipping out over the awesome crash of first-generation Federation ship into the sea and up against the shore of what we’re pretty sure is London, England.

If you’re a fan of the original Star Trek television series, you’ll perhaps have been guessing at the idea that the antagonist for this film was going to be Khan. The man who launched a thousand memes. But consider this: we’re in a completely alternate timeline now – an alternate dimension, if you wish – where the Enterprise crew hasn’t necessarily even found the frozen crew of ultra-beings from whens Khan came.

Does that rule out the idea that Khan will make another appearance here in this film? Not necessarily. But it’s much more likely that the team behind this installment of the Star Trek franchise will opt for another brand new enemy to our best buddies Kirk, Spock, Uhura, and the rest. Here we’ll quite likely find that Benedict Cumberbatch – the actor you’re seeing acting quite mean in this and the other trailers – ends up being a brand new character altogether.

Fun Fact: you’ll also see Peter Weller standing up about 35 seconds into the trailer. That’s Robocop, just so you’re aware. He was also in several episodes of the television show Star Trek: Enterprise as a Terran supremacist – certainly not reprising that role here.

Have a peek at our timeline of Star Trek excellence below and get ready for the big jump – May 16th Internationally and May 17th here in the USA!

Today is the day we continue the Tony Stark saga with the first full theatrical trailer for Iron Man 3, complete with full views of the main villain, plotline confirmations galore, and a bit of a teaser of what’s sure to be the final battle of the film. This movie contains much contemplation on the part of Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark character and some hard decisions made by both he and his associates regarding the defense of the United States of America. To do this, for starters, they’ll be rolling out with Iron Patriot – clad in the stars and stripes of the USA flag on an Iron Man body.

With this trailer comes confirmation of Tony Stark facing off against not just the Mandarin, but the United States of America – again, that is. This is a continuation of the idea that the USA – or entities therein – are not seeing Iron Man as a protective force that should be as private as it is with Stark, but as a weapon that should be integrated into the government’s own forces. Lucky for them, it appears as if a flock of Iron Men appear near the end of the trailer.

This trailer features characters we can assume will be played by the same actors as they were in previous installments of the film. The director is new, this meaning we’ll have a bit of a different approach one way or another, but the cast will be rolling out with a bit more solidity between films than we had between Iron Man 1 and 2. Now that we’re heavy into the success of the film series – and have seen several of the Iron Man characters in the collective Avengers film – we can expect the cast to stay largely the same from here on in.

Meanwhile you’ll be glad to know that the release of Iron Man 3 is still set for May 3rd and will be battling it out with Star Trek Into Darkness without a doubt – that film coming just a couple weeks later into the month. Iron Man 3 is one of several next-generation Marvel Comics films being released in the near future, each of the Avengers grabbing hold of a continuing series well into the next century as well. Stark ahoy!

This week we’re seeing the second in a series of retro-documentary trailers made for the upcoming game BioShock Infinite going by the name “Columbia: a Modern Day Icarus?” The actual content of the game becomes more enticing each moment one watches each of the two trailers that have been released thus far, so much so that I’ve passed these video spots on to friends and colleagues even when they’re not the type of people who would ever end up playing the final product. This sharing is important in and of itself, as the medium almost becomes the message itself with such zeal as we’d only otherwise find in an art film meant for a gallery.

What you’ll see here is a set of information about Columbia, a flying city, and a man by the name of Zachary Comstock. Interesting still is the fact that the presentation of this video is such that the picture works just as well in low definition as it does in high. This is more of a filmstrip than it is a web video.

This video was released near the end of January, then another appeared here in the middle of February. This Part 2 video spot is once again narrated by the enigmatic Alistar Bloom and surrounds the mystery of the “Songbird”. It also once again makes the case for the flying city of Columbia and its mysterious disappearance being the central point of the game that’ll be released this year.

This video again mixes animation, photography, and design elements that make this presentation both “retro” and timeless at once. Of course you and I being part of a timeline that places the filmstrip video presentation from grade school squarely in our minds will be reminded of educational oddities from the 1950s, with a few 1980s video swoops in for good measure. The end result is, again, a wholly enticing prospect: jumping in to a world that’s real in a video game that’ll be released this year.

Back on September 21, we reported that Google had opened its California headquarters to the set of a Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson movie called The Internship. Now, after a few months of waiting, we finally get to see the first glimpse of the film via its trailer, which was posted to YouTube earlier today. Check it out after the jump, and get a peek into Google’s headquarters.

The Wedding Crashers duo have joined together again to make a movie about two ex-salesmen who, out of desperation, manage to land internships at Google. The trailer outlines this plot nicely, and sprinkles in a few Google HQ shots amidst laughs, including the outdoor shot you can see of the building and lawn in the image above. You can check out the full trailer in the video below.

Because Google couldn’t accomodate the movie set for several months while it filmed, large portions of the film were actually taken at Georgia Tech, and then parts and pieces from Google headquarters were spliced in amongst them. In addition to the location, the movie will also feature spots by some Google top dogs, including Sergey Brin and Hugo Barra.

Reportedly, Google doesn’t have any financial interest or involvement in the film, but has been an active participant in its creation. Eric Schmidt held an interview with Vince Vaughn, and Sergey Brin held a dinner at his home for the crew. Says Google, “We’re excited that Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson chose the Google campus as a backdrop for their first film together since ‘Wedding Crashers.’ We’re sure they’ll have a humorous take on life in Silicon Valley and look forward to seeing the result.”

We’ve still got a little while to wait before BioShock Infinite hit shelves, but what better way to pass the time than with a new trailer? The latest BioShock Infinite trailer takes on the guise of a documentary, as one Alistar Bloom attempts to uncover more information about the flying city of Columbia. Columbia, as many gamers will already know, is where BioShock Infinite‘s story will play out.

The trailer doesn’t give much about the game away, but it does set the stage nicely for the story. Interestingly enough, the trailer has that ’70s or ’80s feel, even though the events in BioShock Infinite take place long before then. So, it would seem that Mr. Bloom is looking for clues about Columbia quite some time after the events in the game go down.

It’s been a long wait, but BioShock Infinite is nearly upon us. After a number of delays, the game will now be releasing at the end of March. Two more months may seem like an eternity to those who have already been waiting years for the game, so here’s hoping that it isn’t hit with any additional delays. We can’t imagine this new trailer does much to quell the anticipation, but it’s worth a watch for any BioShock fan nonetheless. Check it out below.

We have to say, while this is certainly an odd direction for a video game trailer, we like it a lot. Perhaps we’ll see more Truth From Legend segments that give us a look into Alistar Bloom’s search for Columbia? One can only hope. BioShock Infinite is out on March 26, 2013 for Xbox 360, PC, and PS3.

Get ready Dead Island fans, because Deep Silver has delivered the first gameplay trailer for the newest game in the series, Dead Island: Riptide. The gameplay trailer goes on for more than nine minutes, and puts the game’s new Hub Defense mode into the spotlight. In Hub Defense, players will scavenge for equipment to defend their base and then fight off wave after wave of zombies, with the goal of keeping all of the survivors alive.

Of course, it’s a little more involved than that, as it gives players the chance to build up their defenses in between waves. The person walking us through the demo, Deep Silver creative producer Alex Toplansky, says that you’ll need to use everything that causes damage during the onslaught, so you’ll need to be sure that you collect all of the guns and explosives you can in the lead-up to the attack.

We also get to catch a glimpse of boat driving, which Toplansky says will be necessary to get around parts of the island. The footage actually looks pretty good for being in the pre-alpha phase, if not a little too similar to the original. If you only wanted more Dead Island action without much of a shake in terms of gameplay, it looks like Dead Island: Riptide might be the game for you.

Keep in mind that since this is pre-alpha footage, a number of features could change before the game releases. That being said, we don’t have too much longer to go as Dead Island: Riptide is set to launch on April 23, 2013 in North America and April 26 in Europe. Will you be returning to the world of Dead Island after getting a look at this gameplay demo?

We’ve seen a lot of really cool game trailers in our time, but only a few them are really capable of getting gamers to gush. This new trailer for Cyberpunk 2077, an upcoming game made by The Witcher developer CD Projekt Red, might just one of those trailers. It’s an all-CGI trailer, which definitely turns some gamers off, but the visuals are so great that it’s nearly impossible to ignore.

The trailer focuses on an android woman after she has apparently murdered a rather large number of people. More specifically, the trailer focuses on her encounter with the police after the killings occur. The police shoot their guns at her, but the bullets don’t seem to do any damage outside of leaving scuffs and scratches. We’re not sure why the police keep shooting after those first few bullets glance off, but that’s drama for you.

All of this is happening in slow motion, which really gives you the opportunity to appreciate the stunning visuals. The trailer seems to be dividing gamers – while some love it, others don’t think it’s anything special due to the fact that it’s a CGI trailer instead of a gameplay trailer. Though it’s true that the title almost certainly isn’t going to have in-game visuals anywhere close to the level of detail we see in the trailer, it’s still very exciting to get our first glimpse at one of CD Projekt Red’s upcoming projects.

The new title is based on the popular pen-and-paper game of the same name, which already has some fans stoked. Even better is that CD Projekt has included a short message at the end of the trailer that instructs gamers to look for a new announcement on February 5, 2013. It looks like we’re going to get the long-awaited reveal of The Witcher 3 on that date, so that’s definitely something worth staying tuned for.

Simon Pegg has once again tipped the world off on the next-generation Star Trek Into Darkness trailer that also came along with viewings of The Hobbit over the past two days. This is the first time the trailer has been available online in it full form and in HD greatness, no less. This trailer comes in the form of a bit of dialogue from our friendly villain for the film as he tells Jim Kirk how terrible his life is about to be: fun stuff!

You’ll see plenty of lava, the Enterprise taking some hefty dives, and some C-class starships headed for the surface of the Earth. That’s no fun! We’ve got some one-person fighter ships appearing here, lots of surface-bound action, and on the whole a more “we’re established now, let’s fight” sort of surroundings. This movie will take us to a place that’s only allowed once the characters in the series (and this series will indeed continue on for some time) is accepted as solid.

It would appear that our best buddy Spock will do not just one, but two death-defying leaps off of high peaks – one being a massive jump from a red forest into the sea, the other being off a tall building into downtown London. We’ll see how well he fares with instant repulsorlifts and quick-draw transporter beams, without a doubt.

This trailer was released exclusively (up until now) in the set of trailers that sat before the 48 fps version of The Hobbit over the past two days. Now we’re ready for the real action jump here during the week – and as so many scenes are shown throughout the trailer, we’re guessing we’ll be seeing more of this movie than the last (the first) Star Trek to be released in this century before it’s out for real. Stick around SlashGear for the full run-down of Star Trek Into Darkness right up until opening weekend!

Because you’ve more than likely never heard of the story behind “Oblivion”, you’re going to have to start with a viewing of the trailer and an understanding that this movie was first a graphic novel – aka a comic book. This story is about the future, it’s got a lot of rather confusing elements made to excite your pants off, and you’re going to freak out over the massive amounts of action in the trailer alone. You’ll not know more until the third paragraph of this post after the trailer is viewed.

This movie has Tom Cruise as its head, Morgan Freeman and Olga Kurylenko as well as Andrea Riseborough working to support the lead, and a massive amount of effects. This movie is directed by the same fellow who directed TRON: Legacy, that being Joseph Kosinski, and it’s coming to you via Universal Pictures. Have a peek at the trailer here right this minute!

The original story from Joseph Kosinski (yes, director and original writer) follows the drone repairman here played by Cruise through a post-apocalyptic wasteland. Drones exists throughout this future Earth where the wasteland effect has been made a reality due to a massive war that, as Cruise mentions, we’ve “won”.

This movie will be released in the most massive theaters on the planet sometime in April in the year 2013. You can expect IMAX action from your local massive screens as well as a global release similar to what we saw back when TRON: Legacy was first sent out unto the world. While the film version of this story was originally purchased by Disney back in 2010, a failure to create a product that’d be able to be released with a PG rating resulted in the sale of the movie rights to Universal Pictures.

This movie has a $100 million dollar budget and started filming all the way back in October of 2011. Kosinski was also responsible for the short film “TR2N” which you’ll get to take a peek at below (this being the film that caught the comic book lover’s universe in 2008, two years before the eventual release of TRON: Legacy), and he’ll be directing Tron 3 (whatever it’ll end up being called) as well as The Black Hole (a remake of the 1979 sci-fi classic). Just you wait and see!

Activision is known for pulling out all of the stops in its Call of Duty commercials, and that’s no different with the Black Ops II ad “Surprise.” The trailer features a lot of big names, from iJustine to FPS Russia and even Iron Man himself, Robert Downey Jr. Now that the ad has enjoyed some playtime and the launch of Black Ops II is behind us, Activision is taking us behind the scenes in a brief “making of” video, which you can check out by hitting the jump.

The video features interviews with the cast and crew, including FPS Russia, iJustine, Activision’s Tim Ellis and Eric Hirshberg, and director Guy Richie. The video covers the idea behind the name “Suprise” – that even though you think you’ve got someone right where you want them in Call of Duty‘s multiplayer, you’re never more than few seconds from getting gunned down yourself. Have a look at the original ad below as a refresher before you watch the behind the scenes video.

Of course, the behind the scenes video also gives us a look at how commercials like this are made. In the case of Surprise, Activision and Richie had to bring in a ton of beat up cars and objects that look like they were carried in from the streets of a war-torn city, and had to put up one massive blue screen so editors could go in afterward to add the buildings, sky, and explosions. Just a word of warning before you start up the behind the scenes video: things get a little loud, so it might not be a bad idea to turn down your speakers.

Sadly, we don’t get to see any sort of interview with Robert Downey Jr., but considering this is a behind the scenes video for a commercial pushing a video game, we’ll take what we can get. Activision’s massive marketing campaign seems to have worked well, as Call of Duty: Black Ops II managed to pull in $500 million in sales on launch day alone. It probably won’t be too much longer before Activision is ready to talk Black Ops II sales numbers once again, so keep it tuned here to SlashGear for more information.

After months and months of waiting, the launch of Baldur’s Gate Enhanced Edition is nearly here. On November 28 – less than one week from now – Baldur’s Gate Enhanced Edition will land on PC, Mac, and iPad, introducing an entirely new generation of gamers to what is widely considered to be one of the best games ever made. What better way to celebrate its impending release than with an all new gameplay trailer?

Of course, if you’ve ever played the original Baldur’s Gate, you’ll be familiar with much of what’s shown in the gameplay trailer. The graphics are mostly the same as they were back in 1998, but the folks at Overhaul Games have applied a few tweaks to the Infinity Engine, which most notably includes a reworked inventory screen and a sharper user interface. You can also expect sharper visuals in general, along with support for higher resolutions that you just can’t find in the original game.

There will also be plenty of new content to eat up, including new party members and new areas to explore, so this should basically be a Baldur’s Gate enthusiast’s dream. It’s worth pointing out that footage you see below is from the PC version of the game, but given the fact that Infinity isn’t exactly the most power-hungry game engine these days, it should look more or less the same on other platforms. Check it out below.

As stated above, Baldur’s Gate Enhanced Edition launches on PC, Mac, and iPad next week. Android users aren’t being left out in the cold, though, as a version for Android tablets (including the Nexus 7) will be launching at a later, yet-undetermined date. Which platform will you be playing Baldur’s Gate Enhanced Edition on?

The trailer is quite lengthy for its kind (2:46) and it features Agent 47 as the “ultimate assassin.” The trailer showcases Agent 47′s skills and looks at some of the new gameplay features, weapons and environments.

Hitman: Absolution is the first Hitman game in six years, and it includes all-new gameplay features, improved enemy intelligence, and a new ‘Instinct’ mode that will help players blend into certain roles. IO Interactive calls the new title the most ambitious game in the series yet, and it features a “living and breathing world, where every moment can become a story”.

The new gameplay trailer releases alongside another trailer that focuses on the recently announced Hitman clothing line. The range of clothing is based on the new game, and it includes clothing such as hoodies and T-shirts. The line was created by Trapstar and will be available in its flagship London store starting November 20.

In typical fashion, Rovio has released another teaser for its upcoming Star Wars-themed Angry Birds sequel. It’s a lot similar to the last teaser we saw, in that it shows a short clip from A New Hope, followed by another short clip that features the Angry Birds in some fashion. This time around, Princess Leia and an Angry Birds stormtrooper make an appearance.

This new 23-second video features everyone’s favorite Star Wars female character commenting on how Luke is a little short to be a stormtrooper. The movie clip then cuts to Luke Skywalker in a stormtrooper mask, but instead of Luke, it’s an Angry Bird wearing the mask in Rovio’s version, and yes, he is a little short in this.

Once again, Rovio doesn’t offer any details about actual gameplay, which is what a teaser is in a way, but at least give us at least something to work with, Rovio — we’re gamers who happen to be starving for a Star Wars-themed title in which we fling birds with slingshots at pigs. That sounds like a fantastic combination.

If you missed the first teaser that went live a couple days ago, it featured the Millennium Falcon, with a short Star Wars clip that had Han Solo, Luke Skywalker, and Obi-Won Kenobi talking about the quick speed of Han’s ship. That teaser didn’t give us a lot of details either, but hopefully as launch day creeps closer, we’ll have more information.

Halo 4‘s launch date is nearly upon us (just over two weeks to go!), and today Microsoft is doing its part to up the anticipation. The company has released the launch trailer for Halo 4, dubbed “Scanned,” and we have to say that we’re pretty impressed with it. That might be because the trailer has a couple of big names in filmmaking attached to it.

David Fincher, the man who gave us the films Fight Club and Se7en, served as producer on this two-minute trailer, while Tim Miller, who’s name is attached to Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, directed it. That team-up appears to be a match made in heaven for Microsoft, as Scanned is one hell of launch trailer. Don’t just take our word for it, though – check it out below.

The trailer centers around Master Chief and a brand new enemy who has not only captured the Spartan, but is in the process of scanning his memory in search of the Chief’s weakness when the trailer picks up. Through this thought-scanning process, we get a taste of Master Chief’s backstory, going all the way back to when he was just a boy. Then we get to see his transition from mere man to Spartan super soldier which, needless to say, looks like a pretty painful process.

Halo 4 launches for the Xbox 360 on November 6, and will be the first Halo game made from the ground up by 343 Industries, the studio Microsoft created to continue the Halo franchise after it was Bungie’s for ten years. Plenty of fans are worried that Halo 4 is going to disappoint, while others are optimistic that 343 will be able to make a Halo title that’s worthy of standing among the other games in the franchise. We’ll find out if Halo 4 sinks or swims soon enough!

We’re just under a month away from the release of Treyarch‘s sequel to Call of Duty: Black Ops. The official launch trailer for Black Ops II has hit the internet airwaves and it’s about as action-packed as you would expect. There’s guns, helicopters, tanks, sentries, and weird attachments that make soldiers fly.

The trailer features AC/DC’s “Back in Black”, which is probably one of the most cliched songs that Treyarch could pick for this kind of trailer, but nonetheless, it makes the gameplay feel more vibrant and it most likely references some of the things we’ll see in the game like camouflage suits, spy drones, and anything else that screams stealth.

If you’re looking forward to the new game, you might be happy to know that Call of Duty Elite will be completely free for Black Ops II gamers. Features such as stat tracking and social options will be available right alongside the game, and for $50, you’ll be able to grab four map updates throughout 2013.

It seems most of the gameplay shown in the trailer takes place in the near future, but there are small hints that suggest some of Black Ops II’s levels may be set in the past. Of course, we’ll have to wait until the game officially releases on November 13. Black Ops II will be available for the Xbox 360, Wii U, PS3, and PC.

If you thought today was exciting, you’d better get your running boots on – Die Hard 5 has been confirmed in a big way with Bruce Willis bringing out the heat once again in an explosion-filled fun-fest you’ll not want to miss. What we’re seeing here in the premiere of this beast is director John Moore taking over for our good pal Len Wiseman after the 2007 film Live Free or Die Hard – now we’ve got John McClane hanging out in Russia – with his son.

You’ll want to buckle your belt as it appears that the Die Hard crown is passed on from everyone’s favorite shoot-em-up hero in Willis to Jai Courtney, aka John McClane Jr. Here we’ve got a collection of slightly lesser-known actors playing the rest of the roles in the film save Mary Elizabeth Winstead of Scott Pilgrim fame and a still-rumored villain role set for Patrick Stewart (but we shall see.) What’s important here is that there’s explosions – lots of explosions.

The director of this film, John Moore, is most well known for his direction of the classic “Behind Enemy Lines”, and is sure to bring another lovely page to the years-long story arc. Bruce Willis will still be breaking necks and busting caps as he’s proven he’s more than able to do in his role as Joe in LOOPER. Have a peek at our LOOPER movie review to get all the deep dark news on how he’s gotta kill his younger self – or avoid being killed by his younger self as he interrupts his own past – it’ll make sense, break out the straws!

Meanwhile have a peek at our Entertainment tag portal for all the special features you can handle for only the most excellent big-name films and science-related flicks. We’ve worked through our fair share of great science-fiction pictures over the past few months and action has been abundant – stay tuned for more!

There are a lot of Minecraft clones running around out there, and at first glance, you might be tempted to label Cube World as one of them. The colorful voxel environments are surely reminiscent of Minecraft, but judging from the game’s new multiplayer trailer below, that’s where the similarities end. Instead of a focus on building, Cube World puts the focus on exploration, combat, and collecting loot, and if that doesn’t get you excited, then frankly we don’t know what will.

Cube World has been in development since June 2011, and its creator Wolfram von Funck has been quite good at updating his blog with new screenshots, videos, and news on new features. The latest update features the trailer you see below, which delves into the multiplayer aspects of the game. In it, we see the characters flying around the world in hang gliders, engaging in combat with monsters big and small, and of course, exploring dungeons.

Combat in the game seems fast paced, with monster and player alike dodging out of the way to avoid being hit before running back into the fray to perform a flurry of attacks. The scenery looks beautiful, the weapons appear to be varied (one character uses a bow while the other wields a massive sword), and there are pre-built structures and towns for players to explore as well. When it comes down to it, the best way to describe Cube World might be as a cross between Minecraft and Terraria, only with more RPG elements than both.

Trying to fit it with a label is somewhat frivolous, however – all you need to know is that Cube World looks awesome. Sadly, it doesn’t have a solid release date yet, with Funck saying it will be released “when it’s done.” He isn’t following Mojang’s release schedule of “release early, update often” either, meaning that he won’t be releasing a playable version of the game until the whole thing is finished. With this new trailer, Cube World has officially caught our attention, so you can bet we’ll have more news on the game right here at SlashGear.

Halo 4 is easily one of the year’s most anticipated games, and in order to make it as big and spectacular as fans are expecting, a lot of work had to go into it. A new video from 343 Industries gives us a glimpse of all that work. Dubbed “Prelude,” the video gives us a peek behind the scenes, showing a myriad of things the team at 343 had to do in order to get Halo 4 right.

The two-and-a-half minute video showcases just how much work has gone into creating Halo 4, from recording the soundtrack to filming the motion capture for the in-game models. There’s footage of programmers and designers doing what they do best, and we’re even treated to a glimpse at how the team records the sound of weapon fire. All of this is set to a rousing score that’s sure to give any longtime Halo fan chills.

The video posted below offers an all-too-rare look at what happens behind the scenes. Of course, we gamers only ever get a look at the finished product, but it’s clear from the video that a lot of blood, sweat, and maybe even a few tears have gone into the production of Halo 4. Don’t just take our word for it though – have a look for yourself:

343 Industries has a lot to prove with Halo 4. The franchise was Bungie’s for 10 exciting (and in some ways historic) years before the reins were handed off to the folks at 343. There are plenty of Halo fans excited to see what 343 Industries can do with Halo 4, but there are plenty more who are worried that it’s only downhill from here. It’s certainly way too early to call it, but at the very least, Prelude proves that 343 Industries is committed to doing the best they can with Halo 4. Enjoy it, and be sure to check our story timeline below for more information on Microsoft‘s next major release.

It’s time to make time a weapon with the 30-year action plot behind the upcoming action and science fiction film Looper in two international trailers that all but give away everything. Just as it was, essentially, with Total Recall, we’ve got everything we need to know the beginning, middle, and ending of the movie. What’s missing, and what makes it all worthwhile, is the action as it happens, and the science that explains the whole of the story.

Have a peek first at the international trailer you may have already seen, this one released over a month ago with many details about the plot and moments of revelation. If you’re worried about spoilers, this might be a good time to turn back. Bruce Willis and Joseph Gordon-Levitt play one man, thirty years between themselves, with both of their goals appearing to be the murder of another for profit.

The second trailer is the newest, having just been released this week. This trailer takes on more than just the plot, it explains a bit more on how time travel works in this particular universe. We don’t yet know the mechanism that allows time travel here, nor do we see any time travel take place other than a moment in which a character is not there one moment, and is there the next – followed by a moment in which they’re blown away with a very rudimentary shotgun, of course.

Time travel here also appears to have the main characters – including Emily Blunt – grabbing anti-gravity powers for one reason or another too. Check out Blunt’s character pushing around a cigarette lighter in the trailer above. Also notice that this day marks the start of a viral campaign which also reveals the timeline in the movie. In the trailer, we hear that “time travel has not yet been invented, but thirty years from now it will have been.” The viral campaign gives us the year 2044, therefor we’ll be watching Looper in present day 2012. Fun stuff!

Stay tuned to SlashGear’s science and entertainment hubs as we interview a real expert on time travel later this week – Dr. Edward Farhi from MIT! It’s only a matter of time!
