I think 3D is cool on a notebook or a TV, but some things I prefer to view in 2D. I don’t want to have to read a lot of text wearing 3D glasses for instance. Some video I prefer in 2D as well, especially if the effects are the sort that are hard on eyes. Toshiba has a cool new notebook that is able to show both 2D and 3D video on the screen at one time. Toshiba unveils Satellite P, P 3D, and L notebook lines

Toshiba has rolled out several new notebooks today and only offered up tiny thumbnail pics of the things. Tiny pics aside the machines look pretty cool. The new machines include the P750/755 and P770/755. The 750/755 notebooks have Intel Core i3, i5, or i7 CPU options. It has up to 8GB of RAM, a 2.5" 750GB HDD or SSD drive option, 15.6" screen with 1366 x 768 and GeForce GT 540M GPU with Optimus technology. Toshiba unveils new range of TVs

Toshiba has pulled the wraps off several new TVs today including the 55ZL1. This set his the first TV to use the CEVO-Engine with a 7-core processor and DRAM inside along with a co-processor for special picture enhancing algorithms all in search of the ideal image. The set has a 16:9 aspect ratio and full HD resolution with LED backlighting and support for 3D. The set has automatic calibration and can convert 2D content to 3D. The set will be offered in screen sizes of 42", 46", and 55" and they have HDDs that can be mounted to the rear of the set. Read The Full Story

This stuff promises robust error management, a simple design, and faster time to market for advanced NAND for customer applications. Toshiba Resistive Multi-touch from Embedded World

By now we're all used to multi touch capacitive displays where the slightest brush of our fingers can zoom and pan the application. At Embedded World in Nuremburg, Toshiba showed off their prototype of a Resistive Multi-touch display using an ARM Cortex-M3 micro-controller. Most people don't have any problems with just using a capacitive screen, but in industrial and medical applications it's often necessary for the users to wear gloves, negating the benefit of capacitive screens. Resistive screens are also much less expensive than their same-sized capacitive counterparts, and are often more durable. Toshiba will have the ability to market this technology to touchscreen markets from ATM's to Point of Sale registers and beyond. Read The Full Story
