This week we've got the opportunity to take a peek at Toshiba's second Thrive tablet, this one a 7-inch device with many of the same specifications as its 10-inch relative. It's got the same rubbery ridged back and no less than a 5 megapixel camera and a 2 megapixel camera to keep you video chatting and snapping pics galore. Lovers of fabulous racing games will be glad to know that the world's greatest mobile-based jetski racing game, Riptide GP, will be flowing across the entirety of Android this month. Up until now, the game had been exclusive to NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual-core processor-having devices because the developers of this game had worked closely with the support team at the chipmaker to optimize it for their current hero chip. Toshiba Thrive Update Available Now, Fixes Resume From Sleep Issue

Toshiba has just delivered on their promise of an update for the recently launched Toshiba Thrive Android 3.1 Honeycomb tablet that should fix the sleepy firmware issue. Toshiba promises Thrive fix to wake somnolent slate

The troublesome sleep issue affecting some owners of Toshiba's Thrive Android tablet should be addressed by early next week, the company has said, promising a new firmware update to fix the problem. According to Toshiba, the new software will be released via the on-device Service Station utility, and will mean owners no longer have to reset their slate in order to get it powered up and functional again. The Toshiba Thrive isn’t a sexy tablet. It’s plump, homely, a little bit awkward, and although smart and supportive, you won’t be showing it off much to your buddies. But if you’re reading this review, you probably already know that. You’re considering the Toshiba Thrive because you see past a pretty exterior and a tight slender body. You want great specs inside, a good clean install of Android 3.1 Honeycomb, ample full-sized ports, and a swappable battery among other unique features.
