Tim Cook reportedly met with Samsung execs over patent case

Apple and Samsung’s trial is expected to start in the United States on July 30th, but both companies were ordered by Judge Koh to sit down and discuss the possibility of mediation. Apple CEO Tim Cook met with Samsung executives Choi Gee-sung and Shin Jong-kyun on July 16th, according to a Korea Times article that has since been removed. It marks the second time that high-level executives at the companies have met to discuss the case.

Yesterday we heard from two sources that the Mac Pro and the iMac were due to receive updates sometime next year, with both reportedly receiving new designs. David Pogue heard the details from an Apple executive, and an email from Tim Cook to an Apple fan also detailed how a Mac Pro refresh was coming in the future. Now it’s been officially confirmed by Apple’s PR that Cook’s email is genuine, and a Mac Pro refresh is coming.

Cook talks Apple aquisitions at D10

This week Tim Cook spoke at the most recent All Things D conference in their opening ceremony about a great many things, not least of them on how Apple plans on continuing their pattern of purchasing smaller companies. Kara Swisher and Walt Mossberg inquired with Cook as to why companies like Facebook and Twitter have different amounts of integration with Apple's mobile products, this leading Cook to note that as far as Facebook goes: "We have great respect for them. I think we can do more with them. ... They have their way of doing things, but people could say the same thing about us." This lead directly into Swisher's next question on whether or not Cook saw Apple making more acquisitions of companies in the future.
