If you’re a gadget loving technology fan, you’ve undoubtedly been getting ready for a vacation or a day away from the home or office and had to figure out how to pack all of the gadgets you need to take with you on the road and still have them handy. That can be very challenging because if you get a camera, a smartphone, and maybe an MP3 player stuffed in your pockets you might lose your pants. ThinkGeek has a new solution that makes it easy to take all of your stuff with you on the go.

ThinkGeek has teamed up with Scottevest to create its very own geeky gadget hiding jacket called the Tropiformer Jacket. The jacket is available in four different colors including blue, red, gray, and cement. The jacket features 22 different pockets arranged all around the jacket that are designed specifically to distribute the weight of all your needed gadgets for comfortable wearing.

If you live in a warmer environment, the jacket also has magnetically attached sleeves that pull off easily and quickly to transform the jacket into a vest. The jacket even has a larger dedicated tablet pocket and a special Quick Draw pocket. The quick draw pocket has a clear material on the inside of the jacket allowing you to operate the touch screen of your smartphone without removing it from the pocket.

The jacket even has its own patented personal area network that allows you to route internal cables for headphones and chargers. One of the more interesting features of the jacket is that it can pack away into itself making it easy to store. The jackets also water resistant to keep all your electronics safe even if you get caught in the rain. The jacket is available now for $149.99.

I’m a sucker for a lot of the geeky items they have at ThinkGeek. Some of my most favorite are the little collectible items that go along with video games such as Portal 2. Specifically, I’ve been rather enamored on several occasions by the replica turrets you can purchase from the game. If you’re going to be on hand at the PAX East 2013 conference, you will have a chance to buy a couple conference exclusive geeky bits from ThinkGeek.

One of the conference exclusive items is a Portal 2 Starfield Deco Turret LED Flashlight with sound. You can’t purchase this little device online, you can only get it in person at the conference while supplies last. The device will be offered on March 22-24th for $9.99. The actual flashlight portion of the turret is a red LED light and it has real sound effects from the video games.

The little turret is packaged in a gift box that looks like the one in the Aperture Investment Opportunity #3 video. The toy is 3.5-inches tall. Along with a special edition turret, ThinkGeek is also offering a gold pickaxe and sword from Minecraft. The foam golden sword will be available at the conference for $19.99.

The golden pickax will be available at the conference as well for $24.99. Both have the pixelated look the game is famous for and are full-size licensed replicas from the Minecraft game. Both of these products will only be offered March 22 the 24th while supplies last at PAX East 2013.

I think we can all agree that ThinkGeek often has some very bizarre products. Sure, those products may be bizarrely cool like the Build-on Brick Mug that lets you stick Lego bricks on the outside of your coffee cup. Today, ThinkGeek is back with a set of four geeky scented candles.

Surprisingly, none of them smell of hand sweat derived from hours of video gaming. The four candles include Retro Arcade, Middle Earth, Teen Spirit, and Space. These may be the perfect candles for your romantic geeky Valentine’s Day. The Geeky Candle Set includes four votive candles in glass cups with suitably geeky labels that are ready to light up.

The scents of the candles are quite bizarre. For instance, Retro Arcade promises to smell like candy, pizza, and a pocket full of quarters. Anyone who grew up in the 80s will remember those smells. Middle Earth promises to smell like grass, rolling farmland, and bright blue sky. Basically, it’s perfect for a day with your precious.

Surprisingly Teen Spirit doesn’t smell like unwashed grunge rocker. It apparently smells like your high school deodorant from your parent’s bathroom. The final scented candle is called Space and promises to smell like outer space, which is to say ozone. You can pick up a set of four candles for $19.99 right now and the candles are not available individually.

Two of the things that keep many people sane and alert are coffee and Lego. The coffee helps keep you awake while tinkering with Lego is just fun. ThinkGeek has unveiled what may be the coolest coffee mug in the history of coffee. The mug is called the Build-On Brick Mug.

The mug has a suitably blocky design perfect for fans of Lego bricks. It has an alternating arrangement of holes where you can poke various building blocks and the raised knobs where you can click your building blocks onto the cup. The mug is black in color and the building surface is compatible with most building block systems.

That means it will work with Lego, PixelBlocks, MegaBlocks, KRE-O, and K’NEX Bricks. However, the mug isn’t officially licensed by any of those manufacturers. The mug is constructed using BPA-free plastic and has a capacity of 12 ounces. The mug isn’t dishwasher safe so you have to hand wash.

This mug opens up the possibility of constructing all sorts of interesting coffee conveying contraptions using Lego technica and other building blocks. The coffee cup is available right now for $19.99. The best part of waking up is building your Lego cup.

If you’re in the middle of outfitting your geeky man cave or evil lair as the case may be, ThinkGeek has what might be the perfect wall decoration for you. That is assuming you don’t mind coughing up $500 on a geeky piece of wall art. Granted, this thing is a 100% accurate replica of the evil computer HAL 9000 from 2001: A Space Odyssey.

Let’s be honest, a typical fan of the film isn’t going to drop $499.99 on this replica, you need to be an uber fan. For your $499.99, you get a 100% accurate, life-size replica of HAL 9000. This thing was created from the actual studio blueprints used to create the devices for the film. The recreation is 100% accurate down to using the original studio files for the HAL 9000 label.

ThinkGeek says that the actual HAL 9000 used in the film used a lens that is rare and expensive called a Nikkor fish-eye lens. The replica uses a custom ground remake that even has a sticker with the writing from the NIKKOR lens used in the film so the product is accurate down to the close-up shots. Other than the incredible accuracy, the replica obviously has a red LED eye and it talks.

The replica will cycle through 15 phrases from the films and you can trigger the speech by talking to it. To activate the device you rotate the lens ring and it will shut off within 2 minutes of no activity to save battery power. One of the phrases the replica will say is, “I’m sorry, Dave, I’m afraid I can’t do that. I think you know what the problem is just as well as I do. This mission is too important for me to allow you to jeopardize it.” Check out the video of the device in action to see more.

If you’re gamer who’s played the puzzle-platform game Portal 2, you’ll undoubtedly remember the sentry turrets you encounter during the game. If you never played Portal 2, it’s a cool game that debuted in 2007 and five years later fans are still playing. This isn’t a the first Portal 2 sentry turret toy we’ve seen over the years, but this is one of the few we’ve seen that plugs into your computer via a USB port.

This particular turret comes from ThinkGeek and is called the Portal 2 Sentry Turret USB Desk Defender. Once you connect the device to your USB port, it will monitor your desktop environment with motion sensing technology. When the turret senses motion it will offer one of five quips the turrets say in the game.

The turret will say things like “There you are,” “Preparing To dispense product,” “I see you” and a few others. If you knock the turret over or move it, it also says things you’ll recognize from the games such as “I don’t hate you,” “hey, hey, hey”, “Nonfunctioning” and others. Once activated if the turret senses no motion for 30 seconds it will say, “Are you still there.”

When the turret does since motion, it opens up its little side wings where its guns hid in the video game. This little USB-powered turret doesn’t shoot anything, it only makes sounds. The turret is 7.5-inches tall and is an officially licensed Portal 2 collectible. You can order one right now for $39.99.

The last time we talked about the ThinkGeek 8-bitty wireless game controller for the iPhone, iPad, and Android devices was way back in February of 2012. At the time, the little old school Nintendo-style game controller was tipped to launch later this year at price of $25. If you liked what you saw in the controller, it is available and shipping right now from ThinkGeek.

The one caveat is that it’s now a bit more expensive than we originally talked about selling for $29.99. It looks very much like the Nintendo controller on my original system way back in the day. The controller is designed to fit in your pocket and supports the iPhone, iPad, and Android devices. It has eight buttons with four face buttons on the right side of the control, two shoulder buttons, and a D pad for movement.

The controller uses Bluetooth connectivity and automatically turns itself off to save power. The little 8-bitty controller is a portable version of the iCade cabinet and is fully compatible with all iCade games. The controller was developed using an open platform allowing app developers to support the controller with no permission from Apple or ThinkGeek.

ThinkGeek notes that the controller is specifically compatible with all the Atari Greatest Hits games available for the iPad via an app. The controller gets power from a pair of AAA batteries, which aren’t included. Honestly, I think this is a more attractive controller for retro gaming than the big and bulky iCade cabinet.

Trust me when I say this new ThinkGeek gadget has nothing to do with dancing or rivers. The Mega Stomp Panic might be the perfect complement to that Halloween costume you’re going to be sporting in a few days. This device is a little box that attaches to your belt and creates sound effects to go along with your every step and stomp.

The device creates sound effects that are synchronized with each step you take making it sound like one of nine different creatures. You can see all nine of the sounds in the image below, but I’m particularly fond of the gigantic monster and the giant robot sound effects. You don’t have to wear a costume to get some enjoyment out of this device.

However, if you’re dressing up as a zombie for Halloween, this could be the perfect accessory for your costume. As you take normal steps, smaller sounds are produced by the little box you wear on your belt. A big stomp makes a larger sound. For instance, if you’re using the Rainstorm effect, each step sounds like you’re walking through water, and stomp makes it sound like you jumped into a large puddle.

Both the main box in the mini box have embedded LEDs that glow. Power for the device comes from for AAA batteries, which aren’t included. This device is available now for $39.99 in limited quantities. If you order one up right now and pick quick enough shipping, I bet you can get it in time for Halloween.

Earlier this morning I talked a bit about the Star Wars Wampa ice scraper. That is certainly the coolest way to get ice off your windshield during the winter I’ve ever seen. ThinkGeek also has some other new Star Wars theme gadgets that geeks will appreciate. I think a couple of these might spawn some new memes.

Behold the power of my fully functional tea infuser. Our resident Brit will appreciate the Death Star Tea Infuser that will sell for $19.99 when it comes in stock later this month. The tea infuser is a perfect stainless steel likeness of the Death Star with a little Tie Fighter on a chain so you can dip it into your glass of hot water to make your preferred tea.

One of my favorites is the Star Wars Lightsaber Ice Pop Makers. The kit comes with four light up lightsaber hilts. Two of the hilts look like Luke’s saber and two look like Vader’s saber hilt. You put whatever liquid you want into the saber molds and then freeze them to make your own popsicles. You can even press a button and make your frosty treats glow. These are expected to be in stock in November for $34.99.

The final product is for the Star Wars geek professionals out there. It’s called the Han Solo in Carbonite Business Card Case. You can pretty much figure out what this is from the name alone. It’s able to hold about a dozen business cards depending on how thick the card stock is. It’s estimated to be available in one to three weeks at $24.99.

Did you ever wonder what became of the hand Luke chopped off that Wampa that wanted to eat him on the icy planet of Hoth? I like to imagine that fuzzy Wampa arm crawled around the icy planet like Michael Caine’s mitt in the 80′s flick “The Hand.” Only the Wampa hand was nice and instead of trying to choke the life out of you, it would scrape the ice off your snow speeders windshield.

I think that would be a good use for a severed Wampa arm personally. If you live in a colder climate or just want to get ready for wintertime, ThinkGeek has an awesome Star Wars officially licensed gadget that you will want to add to your winter arsenal. The product is called the Star Wars Wampa Ice Scraper Mitt.

The scraper is expected to be in stock on October 9 and will sell for $24.99. One side of the ice scraper mitt has white fur and the other side has an ice scraper in the palm. The fingernails appear to be black vinyl. Naturally, the Wampa fur is fake, and it does have a bit red on the underside to show where Luke hacked it off.

ThinkGeek says that the plush ice scraper is warm so it should keep your hand as warm as Luke slumbering inside a recently gutted Tauntaun. The mitt measures 17 x 8.5-inches and the scraper is 3 x 4-inches. When the scraper is removed the mitt is also machine washable.

If you have the world’s most awesome idea for a geeky product that would be perfect on ThinkGeek, the company’s new IdeaFactory will blow your mind. ThinkGeek has announced that it is launching a new program with the goal of allowing geeks to submit ideas for products with a chance of getting the product made and making some money. This may be the perfect chance for me to get my genius idea on the market- two words: bacon bra.

The way IdeaFactory works is that you submit your idea via a written description and an image. The image can be a rendering or a detailed engineering style drawing. ThinkGeek then reviews the ideas and ensures that it passes a few unknown caveats and will then respond to you within 60 days. If the product is deemed worthy, you make some money.

ThinkGeek will pay you in advance of $1000 if your idea is selected for production. That thousand dollars isn’t all you get, you also earn 10% of all retail sales the life of the product up to $1 million. If the product should reach that $1 million mark, the royalty rate drops to 5%. Royalties are paid out quarterly, and ThinkGeek will sell you all of the product that you want to buy for slightly more the cost plus shipping.

You can sell the product on your own website or at public appearances. Unlike some other sites on the web, there is no submission fee and no development costs. That means all you have to do is submit a decent idea to make some money.

If you’re a fan of Doctor Who, be prepared to be greatly impressed by the latest geek toy from Think Geek. ThinkGeek has a new Sonic Screwdriver Programmable TV Remote that looks like the Mark VII Sonic Screwdriver used by one of the many Whos. The device is a universal remote control that allows you to control your home theater components using gestures.

The device promises to be able to learn the control codes for just about any regular remote control. Once it knows those control codes, you can set up your own custom gesture movements to control your components. The device supports up to 13 gestures and has three memory banks allowing the storage of up to 39 different remote control codes. The default gestures include things like rotating the remote clockwise and counterclockwise for adjusting volume.

Each of the gestures triggers a classic sound effect, and the tip illuminates with green light. If you don’t want to hear the sound effects, there is a quiet mode and a lock code is available to keep your kids from changing the channel. The remote supports four different modes, including practice mode, control mode, quiet control mode, and the FX mode. The device runs on a pair of AAA batteries and is set to ship in early September for $99.95.

If you ever wanted to be Captain Kirk, you obviously need a captain’s chair. Sure, you can craft your own from that metal folding chair your mom has since 1972 and a black Sharpie, but that won’t get you any geek cred. What you need is to cough up to $24.99 and order ThinkGeek’s new Star Trek Inflatable Captain’s Chair.

It really is exactly what it sounds like, it’s reproduction of Kirk’s captain’s chair from the bridge of the Enterprise done up pool toy style. The chair is an officially licensed Star Trek collectible. It measures 27.75″ high x 29.25″ wide x 18″ deep.

The chair is made for kids and small adults. By small adult, they mean no more than 120 pounds. The inflatable chair is printed with lights and buttons so you can set red alert or whatever else your captainly duties demand. This is actually a real product, not some late April fool’s joke. The chair is available and shipping now.

This year’s April Fools 2012 Round-up contains some of the strangest notions yet, and as everyone knows at this time of year – some the the most promising concepts for our odd, odd future! Starting with of course Google’s collection of such jokes – they’ve been on point with some of the most in-depth April 1st tricks for several years now, and we wouldn’t want to deprive you of a single one of them. They start with an 8-Bit Google Maps – what else, of course! There’s also Virgin Volcanic, Apple’s patent of the rectangle, and Toshiba’s announcement of several “Shapes” tablets which you can see in a lovely TV commercial below.

First let’s start with this Shapes business. Toshiba has taken the idea that Dwight and the folks in The Office started with the Pyramid Tablet and have upped the ante a bit. Here we’re seeing the Oblong the Rhombus, and the Amore (a lovely heart.) Be sure to play special attention to the title of the record at 0:44 in this video:

Google has first the 8-Bit maps, again, that you can find by clicking on the link above. Next you’ll want to see The YouTube Experience DVD collection. Every single movie will be included, and 170 delivery trucks will bring the collection to you, with trending videos on video disk, music on record, and a snail mail system for comments!

Next Google has launched Interplanetary Analytics so you can finally see which planets are visiting your website the most! We’ve been wanting this for years!

Google is keeping it real about Google Fiber, noting that they’ve never been working with a Fiberoptic network, they’ve actually been making Fiber Bars. You’ll probably want to buy a pack – these bars are able to detect what the body needs with body analytics and will deliver what your body needs, when you need it.

The Google Australia team will be expanding their Street View area starting this week not with cars, but with kangaroos with cameras on their heads. Makes sense, yes? This new program will be called Google Street Roo and will be starting immediately.

The store known as Firebox is bringing you personalized fireworks as well as child-sized gummy bears and a dubstep ladder. Don’t forget your beats up the scale!

Carphone Warehouse has the most fantastically awesome device case on the market with the “i-Shield”, a sphere that protects your phone device no matter what! This case also disallows any use of the device whatsoever.

Phones 4U will be bringing you back outside this summer with wi-fi boosters inside garden gnomes with lovely little red hats. These gnomes will of course be called Gnomes 4u and will be available soon! You can pock from Angelina Gnomie, Kylie Mignome, or Signome Cowell!

ThinkGeek has a set of devices and products that of course are so undeniably awesome that their ultimate fate will almost certainly be to end up as real for-sale items. Starting with the Star Wars Admiral Ackbar Singing Bass, heading to the Barbie Styling Head and Electronic Hungry Hippos for iPad (both of them completely wildly absurdly unnecessary) and landing squarely on the Minecraft Marshmallow Creeps. Flawless victory for the ThinkGeek crew for April 1.

Blizzard Entertainment will be starting Blizzard Kidzz, a system with which the gaming company will begin creating games which work with kids using characters from otherwise unfavorably violent games. One example is Zergling from Starcraft – here you’ll use your Zerg creature to learn to type- or die! You’ll also want to check out The Westfall Trail as well as Reader Ravager, and of course don’t forget about the soon to be classic Diablo-derived “Where In Sanctuary is Deckard Cain?”

The Criterion Collection will be offering Kindergarten Cop this summer. This is what we’ve also been waiting for for some time – this means it’ll be on Hulu Plus!

Sony has a brand new device which allows you to connect to a much more powerful experience with the lightest and most portable UltraBook ever. This UltraBook is the size of a Quarter (US Currency coin) and goes by the name of The Sony VAIO Q Series. Have a peek at it here:

Let us know if you’ve seen any other April Fools jokes you just MUST let the world about! Also don’t forget to check out the 2011 April Fool’s Tech Roundup as well.

There’s a limited edition Portal Gun coming to your doorstep via ThinkGeek, all you fans of the fantastic cult classic game, and its the 1:1 replica you may never have known you’ve always needed. This gun is the same you’ve seen in the Portal Series in both the first and second editions, you being able here to toss some C batteries in, start it up, and blast some GLaDOS friendly sound effects and lights into the atmosphere at will. This Portal Gun replica is limited to 5000 pieces worldwide and has been announced for sale on the 18th of May by ThinkGeek today!

The Portal series has long been a favorite amongst gamers looking for not only a fantastic fun-filled puzzle-room experience, but a bit of deranged humor along the way as well. Truly it is appropriate then that the makers of this gun, NECA, have chosen ThinkGeek to be one of the few to sell it. This is Aperture Science’s Handheld Portal Device, a fabulous masterpiece of science, and you’ll be owning it very, very soon.

Inside you’ve got orange and blue LED lights, unique sound effects for each color, and a three-way switch that allows for blue, orange, or off modes. You’ve got a trigger that activates the firing mechanism, and the claws out front are both extendable and posable. This unit is weighted so you can pose it nicely without need of a special stand, and it does indeed require 3 C batteries to make it work – scientific! This device is 8.5-inches wide at its thickest point and 30-inches long with the claws retracted.

Get ready for testing, and expect no cake.

If you are having fun with Siri on your iPhone 4S ThinkGeek is teasing with a new accessory that won’t hit until April 18 of 2012 if all goes well. The device is called the Iris 9000 voice control module for iPhone and Siri. It looks like that glowing evil eye of HAL. The device will let you control Siri from across the room and is activated with a wireless remote.

When you press the wireless remote Siri will chime and you can tell the phone what you want to do. The mic is supposed to be sensitive enough to work from across the room. The attached dock and mic will also allow you to make hands free phone calls as well. Iris has an embedded speaker so you can hear your calls and voice commands.

The red glowing eye flickers with the voice of Iris 9000 as it speaks. It connects to the wall with an included power adapter and will only work with the iPhone 4S. The device is a ThinkGeek exclusive. You can sign up for email reminders on Iris 9000 and it will sell for $59.99 when it launches.

ThinkGeek always has your back when it comes to getting the weird and strange items you need for any holiday. For Halloween, which is only a couple weeks away now, ThinkGeek has some interesting offerings that you might like to get scary festive at your house or office. The most interesting things are the Plush Zombie slippers. I think these might be perfect for the premiere of the Walking Dead coming up this weekend too.

These slippers look like a rotting green corpse is eating your stumpy little legs. You can get your own pair of slippers for $19.99 and they are available now. I also like the Plush Zombie hat to go with those slippers. The hat will keep your head nice and toasty and it looks like a zombie munching on your brain when you wear it.

The final bit of geekery is the 8-bit LED Jack O’Lantern. This is exactly what it sounds like, a pixilated pumpkin with some lights on it for your home or desk. That zombie hat will set you back $14.99 and the 8-bit pumpkin will cost you $9.99. All of the items are ready to order, but if you need them by Halloween you had better hurry.

If you are the geek sort that works in an environment where you have to wear pants and dress up with a tie, I am sorry for you. At least you can show how geeky you are with these wild tie tacks. The things look like little metal lightsabers. They are made of cast brass, but they look like pewter to me. I think the Sith Lord might have worn this to his Senate meetings.

They come in styles based on Luke Skywalker’s lightsaber handle and Vader’s saber handle. The closeups show some nice details. I wonder if you have to polish them since they are made from brass. Naturally, a Japanese firm makes the things and this is another example of Star Wars tie-ins that are very weird (see what I did right there).

These aren’t cheap considering most of us rarely wear a tie; you can get one of the styles for about $40. The company that is selling them is called Kotobukiya and it’s not clear if they will ship to other countries. These would be perfect at your fancy dinner party of geeks to go with those ThinkGeek candlestick holders we saw last week.

There are more Star Wars branded products out there than you can shake a stick at making many fans of the franchise angry that George Lucas pimps out our childhood memories to just about anyone. The place that makes some of the coolest licensed gear is ThinkGeek and I have yet to be disappointed by stuff that it offers. ThinkGeek has a new Star Wars item that is called the Star Wars Lightsaber Candlestick.

The candlestick base is made from solid metal and is a perfect reproduction of Darth Vader’s lightsaber. The base comes with three no drip red candle sticks to put in it. This would be the perfect geek touch for your Christmas party since the candlestick is listed as shipping on December 5. Once you burn through the included red candles, you can use any tapered base candle for a replacement.

This is an officially licensed collectible. The hilt is 8.5-inches long and the red candle blade is 10-inches long. You can unscrew the base that stands the candlestick up when you want to play with the weapon. Each of the candlesticks will sell for $39.99. Check out the video below to see the thing in action.

ThinkGeek has some of the coolest geeky toys and wares around. Some of the stuff is a bit odd like that titanium straw we talked about a while back. For a while now ThinkGeek has also been offering shirts that have musical instruments on the front you can actually play. So far, you can jam to a guitar, keyboard, and drum shirt.

Today there is a new musical whatnot that you can collect. Rather than a shirt that you can’t wear every day (unless you don’t worry about things like hygiene) the latest in the musical line is a guitar bag called the Electronic Rock Guitar Bag. The bag has the same style guitar on it that the first of the shirt series offered and has its own battery powered amp that you can hang on the outside. The bag will play real sounding cords that were recorded from a guitar.

The bag will let you play all major cords and the bag itself really works too. It is large enough to hold a laptop up to 17-inches. Inside are two large pockets, six small pockets, and a zipper pouch for your phone. The bag is made from thick black canvas and has fake leather accents and a magnetic closure for the main flap. The bag will ship August 28 for $49.99.

I used to work with a woman that was weird. She had an unnatural fear of balloons and always brought her own straws to work. Apparently, she didn’t trust the balloons to not pop on her randomly and getting a straw out of a box was gross. What that woman needs is this titanium drinking straw. You can cram it into just about anything you want to drink from oranges to milk cartons.

I bet you can get it through one of those randomly super tight drink lids that make plastic straws explode too. The cool part is that you can wash the straw so you always know no one has had it in their nose and then put it back in the box. I think this would be perfect for vampires with a little modding.

Sharpen the straw to a point and you could be drinking blood neater in a jiffy. If you want one of these straws, you can pick it up at ThinkGeek for $15. That is a lot of loot for a straw, but they are made from titanium and don’t get hot or cold. The downside is if you miss your straw while talking to someone and it goes up your nose, you might puncture your brain.

The retro-looking arcade-style joystick gives you enhanced gaming precision and easily attaches to your screen without harming it.

The JOYSTICK-IT can be attached by simply pressing it down on your screen. It can be removed and repositioned without damaging your screen and doesn’t require any wires or batteries. It is milled out of solid aluminum with a laser etched crosshair design on top for traction.

It works with thousands of different games on the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch, as well as on many other capacitive touchscreen smartphones. Any game that has on-screen control pad should work with the JOYSTICK-IT. Simply place the JOYSTICK-IT directly over the on-screen control pad and push down to set in place. It will not work for swipe-based games.

The JOYSTICK-IT is now available at ThinkGeek for $17.99 for the iPhone version, $24.99 for the iPad, and is offered in a 2-pack for the iPad at $39.99.

Even the CDC has been giving tips to folks on how to stock up to survive a zombie apocalypse. The same survival kit will come in handy for things like earthquakes, floods, and tornados too. Granted in a natural disaster of the non-zombie sort, you will get less use from your machete-throwing slingshot than when the zombie scourge rears its rotting head. Still, the key here is to be prepared for anything. I know many geeks that are powered by Hot Pockets and Dr. Pepper and the thought of going without internet access in a disaster is bad enough, but going sans snackage is more than they can take.

If you are getting your zombie survival kit ready, ThinkGeek has a new item you can add. It’s called the Tactical Sammich and it’s sort of like a Hot Pocket that isn’t hot. The Sammiches come in pepperoni and honey BBQ beef. For the zombie plague survivor watching their waistline, each of the Sammiches is only 300 calories. One of the most important factors is that you can buy these things and they will last up to two-years in that dark hole in the back yard you call a bunker.

Zombie survival isn’t cheap; each Tactical Sammich will cost you $5.99. Each package measures 8″ x 6″. I wonder if there is any real meat inside these things or if it’s all soy and preservatives. No cooking is involved, simply rip open your Sammich and eat.

Just like any tool, this camera can be used for good or evil. ThinkGeek has all sorts of cameras and other gadgets that can be used for spying on your fellow geeks and doing things that could get you arrested or beaten up if you get caught. The latest camera product from the geeky purveyor of goodies is the new Midnight Shot NV-1 Night Vision Camera. It’s cool and has an infrared photography mode that allows you to take photos in total darkens.

The camera is able to shoot still photos and video. ThinkGeek says that the camera will let you see through some types of fabric and other materials. Exactly what kinds of fabric and materials the camera lets you see through isn’t noted, ThinkGeek says you have to experiment. The NV-1 has a 5MP resolution image sensor. The night shot mode retracts an infrared blocking filter that is normally over the lens allowing all that light to the image sensor.

The description does say that during daytime mode if you use the IR setting you will be able to see through clothing because the IR light penetrates surfaces while the light we see with our eyes bounces off. Their viewing effect can be increased by getting your own IR filter and attaching it to the lens as well. The internal memory of the camera is 16MB, it can store photos, and video to SD cards of up to 8GB in size. The video is recorded in AVI format with a resolution of 640 x 480. The camera is estimated to be in stock soon and sells for $139.99.

One of ThinkGeek’s most popular April Fools’ jokes of recent years has been the iCADE arcade cabinet for the iPad, and having been green-lighted the retro peripheral is finally going on sale. ThinkGeek has just told us that pre-orders for the iCADE kick off today, with the cabinet expected to ship from May 20.

Priced at $99.99, ThinkGeek’s version of the iCADE will have the same retro “April Fools” graphics as the original prank. Bluetooth is used to hook up to your iPad, which slots into the screen section, giving you a proper arcade joystick and controls to use.

It’s all ideal for Atari’s “Greatest Hits” gaming collection, released into the App Store earlier this month. Later on, ThinkGeek intends to release an iCADE API so that developers can use the controls in their own titles. Best order quickly, though; the first batch has apparently already been sold, so anybody pre-ordering now will be getting units from the second batch.

Guys and gals, Valentine’s Day will be here before you know it so if you don’t have your plans for gift giving for the geek in your life hammered out, you had better get to it. ThinkGeek has all sorts of stuff that geeks will like and you should give some of the stuff a gander.

Among the cool V-Day gear is a plush heart pillow that has a rhythmic vibration. If that’s not geeky enough for you can give the LED Flashing Sweetheart Kit. You have to build this thing yourself, it comes with a heart shaped board and LEDs that have to be soldered on along with other parts. Nothing says love like a soldering gun.

You can also get a box of Mini Plush Microbes, stuffed animals FTW! My personal favorite is the 8-Bit Flower Bouquet. I think this is what Mario would have given the Princess for Valentine’s Day.

So you’ve got your iPad and you’ve got your arcade games and you’re having tons of fun, but after a while you notice your thumb starting to hurt. Why? Because you’re jamming it down way too hard on the surface of the machine! You know what you need? Something awesome. Something three-dee. This is that. This is JOYSTICK-IT, an iPad arcade stick that suction-cups down to your pad and allows you the classic control you never knew you wanted, but are about to know you need! It’s a vintage fantasy that fits just so very nice right here in the now!

This joystick also not only works on the iPad of course, it works on whichever kind of capacitive touchscreen you want to use it on (but works best on tablets because it’s pretty much giant.) The bulk of the object is made of solid milled-aluminum and the bottom is padded in a way that will not harm your device. And what’s best about this thing, other than it’s totally awesome and neato looking? It’s a ThinkGeek exclusive – invented and designed by ThinkGeek for sale on ThinkGeek! NOTE: Unfortunately JOYSTICK-IT is not in stock yet, but they say they’ll have it by the end of this month!

My daughter is too young to understand that things die. She is always catching some sort of frog or lizard and then putting it in a box to keep “forever” without realizing that the things have to eat. I end up having to sneak out and let the captive escape after she goes to sleep.

If you like to look at bugs or have kids that like to look at things like that ThinkGeek has a new toy that might be perfect for them. The toy is called the Electronic Butterfly in a Jar and it looks very realistic. The butterfly is offered in pink morpho, blue morpho, monarch, and yellow swallowtail varieties.

The only downside is that right now they are all backordered for 1-3 weeks except for the pink morpho. The jar looks real and the butterfly has a thin, clear wire that gives it the juice it needs to flutter around the jar. It looks very realistic and you can only see the wire close-up. This will fool many folks so be ready to have tree hugger types call you mean and have to explain. The strange toy costs $19.99.

Welcome to a morning of great discovery! First, NASA discovers a new form of life that opens the door toward a whole new way of thinking about… well… life! Then RIM discovers the fact that a company by the name of The Astonishing Tribe would be a great addition to their team. ThinkGeek discovers the technology to integrate a music synth into a t-shirt. Amazon discovers its weak side as it stops hosting WikiLeaks. Apple discovers inexpensive auto-stereoscopic 3D technology (and patents it.) Advent Vega discover a few more tablets in their warehouse (and sell them all out basically instantly.) And Google discovers that its Android 2.2 Froyo has finally overtaken 2.1 Éclair. Bring on the cookies!

Those wacky cats over at ThinkGeek are constantly throwing out new and increasingly geeky gadgets and clothing for us to check out. The latest of these geeky shirts has now started shopping and goes right along with the previous shirts from ThinkGeek that have a guitar on front and a drum kit. The newest shirt is the Electronic Music Synthesizer Shirt.

The thing is an 80′s hair band synthesizer on the front of a shirt that actually plays music. You can see the dude in the YouTube video below playing that 80′s one hit wonder track “Take On Me” on the shirt. The synth on the shirt has five different sampled instruments that you can choose from.

The player can rock out with up to eight keys that can be pressed at one time. The sound for the synth comes out of a belt worn speaker that has a volume knob and a tone adjustment knob. Power for the amp comes from a quartet of AAA batteries. The shirt is shipping right now for $29.99 in S-XXL sizes.

Welcome back after an extended holiday weekend! Many of you’ve got your new Android smartphones and giant televisions and weirdo oddities under your belt (or maybe you had even more fun by buying those things as presents) and you’ve come back, hungry for some tech news! Well you’re in luck, especially if you DIDN’T pick up your device of choice yet, especially if you live in Korea (where you’ll find the LG LU3000, faster than Galaxy S, – that is of course if you dismiss the fact that you might be going to war soon,) in Japan (where Sharp is very soon releasing their fabulous Galapagos tablets,) or the USA (where you can get a FREE G2.) Of course, if you’re in Taiwan this week, you’ll probably flip out over a ASUS Eee Note EA-800, and if you’re in the USA… well… how about a pulse rifle? Or I bet you’re on the lookout for a SlashGear Cyber Monday Round Up?! All this and MORE on SlashGear Morning Wrap-up!

Wow, I am totally scratching my entire holiday wish list for this thing. ThinkGeek has a replica of the pulse rifle up for sale that is so cool that geeks and sci-fi fans may seize up right now. I know what you are thinking, it is so cool it almost looks like one of those jokes ThinkGeek likes to play in and around April. I actually added the thing to my cart and didn’t get the usual haha, we tricked you note.

This replica is based on the actual prop of the M41-A pulse rifle from the flick and weighs 15 pounds. This is no plastic toy and all of the parts on the rifle actually work. Except for the obvious issue that it doesn’t fire pulse ammo at acid-blooded, chest popping aliens. It has the pump action underneath the barrel, a working bolt, and an LED read out on the side.

That read out keeps track of your ammo and gets power from a pair of AA batteries. Those batteries are changed by popping out the clip. This much epic will set you back $899.99. That’s not cheap at all, but awesome rarely is. It comes with a wall display rack that looks like the side of a Space Marine drop ship.

Back in September ThinkGeek unveiled its cool TK-421 iPhone case that had a Bluetooth keyboard inside to let you type on your iPhone Blackberry style. If you were intrigued by that case, ThinkGeek is now shipping the TK-421.

If you missed this thing the first time around it is a case that has a swivel out Bluetooth keyboard inside that connects via Bluetooth to let you type on any app that the iPhone has. The QWERTY keyboard has clicky keys according to ThinkGeek. The keyboard is kept in the locked position using a magnetic clasp.

You can get the TK-421 in version for the iPhone 4 and for the iPhone 3GS. The iPhone 3G will fit the 3GS case, but the 3G lacks support for BT keyboards. If you add this thing to your iPhone, you have no excuse for not telling your supervisor why you aren’t at your post. You can order right now for $49.99 for either version.

The clock is called the Lego Minifig Alarm Clock and the clock looks like a giant Lego minifig character. You can get the cool clock in Darth Vader or Storm Trooper styles and they look really cool. The characters have posable arms and legs so you can stand them up or sit them down.

The characters are 8-inches tall and have the alarm clock in the chest. The clocks are aimed at kids 6 and up. They are appropriate for 30 something geeks too. The clocks are in stock right now for $29.99.

I loves me some ThinkGeek. These people really know how to toss a product onto the market with geek appeal. The awesome Wampa Rug and the coolest pizza cutter ever in history of man that looked like the Enterprise are just two epic examples. The latest product from the company isn’t as geeky as those two, but it’s more useful for many of us.

The thing is an iPad Bluetooth Keyboard Case that you can stuff your iPad into giving it a wireless keyboard allowing you to type while on the road. This is the perfect case for the iPad owner that wants to use their iPad like a netbook to do some work.

The case sells for $59.99 and is available right now. The batteries inside the keyboard recharge using USB and it is packed inside a black leather iPad case with a magnetic flap. That flap can prop the iPad in different positions for comfortable viewing. The case and iPad together weigh 2.75 pounds and the keyboard has iPad specific keys. Those keys include home, volume, iPod controls, and search. The battery is good for 90 hours of continuous use.

Any spy or stalker worth their salt will tell you that you need to blend in with the crowd when you are watching your target. You can’t carry a massive DSLR around snapping pics willy nilly, you have to be subtle. Subtle is where this teal green shirt festooned with spy graphics called the Electronic Spy Camera Shirt comes into play.

The shirt has a knock of reproduction of a 007 movie poster on the front and instead of the 007-style dude holding a PPK he is holding a camera. You have to look pretty close to see that the camera is actually a camera with a real lens in the shirt. A control with wires runs from the camera in the shirt to the user’s hand.

The user can hit the shutter button and the camera will snap a pic. The remote has vibrating feedback so you know the pic snapped. The internal storage in the cam can hold 150 color photos in 640 x 480 resolution and it plugs into a USB port to download. Power is from three AAA batteries and you can order one up for $39.99.

If you’re tired of all those conventional lamps that usually adorn a desk, and if you happen to be a particularly fond fan of Pac-Man, then perhaps these new Ghost Lamps from ThinkGeek will grasp your attention long enough for you to pull out your wallet. The new lamps are actually pretty big, and from the looks of it can manage to illuminate a pretty wide area.

The Ghost Lamps are available now for purchase, and as of the time of this writing were still in stock. There are four ghosts to choose from: red, blue, white, and yellow. The description of the device is pretty unorthodox for the most part, but that’s standard for ThinkGeek and their offered products. As for details on the lamps, it looks like they use a standard 20W to 40W candelbra light-bulb, but they aren’t included in the package.

Unfortunately, the lamps don’t come in a complete set (yet). So for now, you’ll have to be ready to drop $69.99 for one lamp.

Yep, ThinkGeek is my favorite store in the history of stores. I just mentioned that cool C-3PO backpack that will hold an iPad. ThinkGeek also has a sweet Star Wars Wampa Rug that you can toss in front of the fireplace. Geeks don’t need no stinkin’ bearskin rug. The beast has both his arms so he isn’t the one Luke whacked an arm off of.

The head of the Wampa is plush and the faux fur is soft. The claws are covered in black vinyl and the rug has a non-slip backing so you don’t crack your head open slipping on the thing. Like the C-3PO backpack, the Wampa rug is a licensed Lucasfilm collectable.

In addition to being cool, this proves that Lucasfilm does actually make some good decisions on licensing collectables. The rug measures 62″ long and 30″ wide. Halloween is coming up guys, a nice fire, your best girl in her Jaba the Hut Slave Leia costume, and this rug could make for one fantastic night.
