ASUS Eee Pad MeMO announced for $249, ICS and quad-core in tow

NVIDIA and ASUS have announced not only the first official (according to Google) Ice Cream Sandwich tablet this week with the Transformer Prime (its release from today,) they've come out with the real release of the ASUS Eee Pad MeMO, a 7-inch tablet with a quad-core processor and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, all of it for a mere $249. This is the real iPad killer, as that term has become so common, and here it is. The display is a lovely 7-inch WXGA resolution IPS panel, there's 1GB of memory inside, and it has an NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core processor on the inside.

ASUS Transformer Prime with Ice Cream Sandwich available today

At the NVIDIA press conference during CES 2012 we've been told that NVIDIA's Tegra 3 processor, ASUS, and Google have collaborated to announce it as the world's first Ice Cream Sandwich tablet officially. Though you may well have heard of a few other Ice Cream Sandwich tablets out there thus far, none of them have been licensed by Google to have the Android Market. This also means that not only will ASUS and NVIDIA be pushing this tablet as the best, Google's on board too.

Shadowgun multiplayer demoed on Transformer Prime running Tegra 3

NVIDIA has shown off several elements of the Tegra 3 processor this week at their press conference at CES 2012, not least of all the now multiplayer first person shooter Shadowgun. Several of NVIDIA's best showed off the app working at full HD over wi-fi, no skips or cuts in the least. With controllers in-hand, this game was played from a set of three Transformer tablets and projected on the big screen via HDMI.

In a fully green-lit environment on the first full day of CES 2012, NVIDIA's Jen-Hsng Huang outlined their 2012 focus, and all was quad-core. The event began with Huang speaking about how they'd be moving through Tablets, a secret additional feature of Tegra 3, and vehicle integration. As tablets are, as evidence shows, the quickest selling device category in mobile history, so too will NVIDIA continue to concentrate on the category for their hero devices.

ASUS Transformer Prime TF700T revealed with 1080p display

ASUS' Transformer Prime may only have gone on sale a short time ago, but the company has already prepared a new model, the Transformer Prime TF700T, with a 1080p-capable display. Set to take on Acer's teased Iconia Tab A700 shown yesterday, the Prime TF700T has a 1020 x 1200 Super IPS+ display with Gorilla Glass, along with some changes to the front camera and some of the wireless performance.

Acer dropped a gigantic teaser in an Android tablet which works as its next generation Acer Iconia Tab, it having massive high definition display, quad-core chip, and a whole new form factor. The high definition display sits at 1920 x 1200 pixels, it runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, and it runs an NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core processor. Acer teases 1080p quadcore Iconia Tab A700

Acer may have spent most of its time talking ultrabooks at CES 2012 today, but the company also had a quick surprise for tablet fans: a new quadcore slate to take on ASUS' Transformer Prime. Briefly flashed before the assembled press - just giving us time to shoot off a picture - and then whisked away once more, the unnamed Iconia Tab, which we're guessing is the rumored A700, apparently has not only four cores but a Full HD 1080p display.
