Welcome to our look at Samsung’s newest work with Android, this being made specifically for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and called Samsung TouchWiz UX. What TouchWiz amounts to is a custom user interface that sits on top of and beside Android 3.1 Honeycomb, working to improve the way you work with Android and your tablet in general as well as opening your pathway to Samsung’s new movie collection interface and ability to work with Mini Apps on top of your everyday full-screen apps and home screens. The big question many users are having at the moment is: “should I update?” and we aim to answer that question here.
The year 2011 has been a time of many advancements for Android, not least of all in the land of processors. In the United States, the Motorola ATRIX 4G was the first dual-core Android handset to hit the shelves, while the first dual-core tablet was the Motorola XOOM. Besides both of these devices being Motorola, what’s do they both have in common? They’ve both got the power of the NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor inside. From the very start of this dual-core revolution here in the USA, NVIDIA has been dominating the market.
SoC manufacturer NVIDIA announced back in February that they'd be releasing their next-level chipset somewhere inside the year 2011. This quad-core processor was and still is code named Project Kal-El and promises to take the power of their current dual-core chipset Tegra 2 and x5 the power. What's being debated today is the release date of said project on tablets and handsets, it being inside Q3 2011, that being September 30th, inside August, or some third date - all of this being through third-party sources.

ASUS’ successor to the Eee Pad Transformer is due in October, according to the latest leaks from the Taipei supply chain, with the company keen to commercialize on the success of the first-gen Honeycomb tablet. To avoid the manufacturing shortages that saw production unable to keep up with demand first time around, DigiTimes reports, ASUS has contracted two touchscreen suppliers rather than the original one.
The ASUS Eee Pad Slider will be the first of its kind with an innovative slide-and-tilt keyboard to spice up the common tablet form factor---now if only it would show up already. It's been delayed from summer to fall and now signs of its imminent release are finally cropping up. The device has just been spotted in the August catalog for Portuguese electronics retailer Phone House.

Yesterday the Steak Pro was nothing more than a somewhat grainy leaked photo that was floating around the web. Today the Steak 10 Pro is officially official and has landed in China for purchase. The tablet is looking to offer the ability for pros to manage both parts of their life with the business needs and the consumer home needs addressed in one tablet. The little tablet runs Android 3.1 Gingerbread and has a 10.1-inch screen.

With WiFi tablets generally proving more affordable and more popular than their cellularly-equipped brethren, Samsung probably made the right decision launching the WiFi-only Galaxy Tab 10.1 first. Still, we’ve had a taste of Verizon’s LTE network on Android smartphones, and that left us with a taste for more. Just in time, then, comes the new Verizon Galaxy Tab 10.1: a super-slimline 4G LTE slate with a sugary Honeycomb center.
Dell already has 5-inch and 7-inch Android tablets in the market with news of an upcoming 10-inch Honeycomb model first leaked in April. Since then, we've only seen a rendering of the tablet with an estimated June arrival, which has already passed without any signs of the slate. Well, now a photo of the tablet has finally surfaced suggesting a launch could be coming very soon.

Apple's iPad 2 has been carrying the torch for the best quality display, but a recent comparison test suggests that it may be ousted by the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1. The test was conducted by DisplayMate, comparing the iPad 2 display to that of various other Android tablets in addition to the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, including the Motorola XOOM, Acer Iconia Tab A500, and the ASUS Eee Pad Transformer.

NVIDIA has potentially given MeeGo a shot in the arm, with the release of a set of drivers for the Tegra 2 that will allow ports of the OS to run just as Android already does. The new drivers, MeeGo Experts reports, should see Tegra 2 based tablets and phones such as the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and the T-Mobile G2x able to run the open-source platform.
