We've had this amazing little device in our hands more than once now, and let me tell you firsthand - it's a wicked beast. It's filled with NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual-core processor goodness in some regions and Exynos dual-core Cortex-A9 in others, and although up until now it was said to be releasing at 1.0GHz, it's now said that BOTH of these different chipsets will be clocked at 1.2GHz at release time. We'll be asking Samsung directly about this situation soon. Then what about release time?

After having looked at this lovely new Android tablet in person yesterday, it connecting nicely to its keyboard bottom and hosting a nearly final build of Android 3.0 Honeycomb, we're quite excited to see it popping on on Best Buy for a mere $400. One of the contention points for recent Android tablet announcements has indeed been the price, prices inevitably compared to Apple's $500 wifi-only iPad trumping most of the competition, but here we've got a possible price competitor!

If you'd asked us yesterday which Android 3.0 Honeycomb tablet we were most excited about, we'd probably have said Samsung's upcoming Galaxy Tab 10.1, or maybe its smaller 8.9 sibling. Now we're not so sure. SlashGear caught up with ASUS today for the official launch of the Eee Pad Transformer, the company's 10.1-inch Tegra 2 tablet that can be optionally paired with a detachable, battery-toting keyboard dock. Announced back at CES 2011, and promptly lost amid the flurry of similar slates, it turns out that ASUS could well have a winner on its hands. Read on for our first-impressions.

ASUS Eee Pad Transformer and Eee Slate EP121 officially priced & dated

ASUS has confirmed availability and pricing of the Eee Pad Transformer and the Eee Slate EP121, the company's two new tablets. The Tegra 2 based Android 3.0 Honeycomb Transformer will drop on April 6 - pre-orders will kick off today - priced at £379 ($608) for the 16GB version and £429 ($688) for the 32GB version. Throwing in the optional keyboard - which also has an integrated battery that boosts runtimes to 16hrs - bumps the 16GB model to £429. A 3G model will follow on in around two months time.

ASUS has officially launched its first Android 3.0 Honeycomb tablet, the ASUS Eee Pad Transformer, a 10.1-inch slate promising up to 16hrs runtime when used with the battery-toting keyboard dock. Running Honeycomb on NVIDIA's Tegra 2 processor and fronted by a 10.1-inch 1280 x 800 IPS touchscreen display, the Transformer has a pair of cameras and optional 3G connectivity.

Sony VAIO Hybrid with GPU dock and Chrome OS Tegra 2 ultraportable tipped

Sony is believed to be readying two new notebooks, including a VAIO Hybrid PC with an intelligent docking station, and a Chrome OS VAIO based on NVIDIA's Tegra 2. According to Sony Insider's sources, the VAIO Hybrid PC will, on its own, be a relatively thin Core i7 machine complete with Intel WiDi, SSD storage, HDMI and a 1.13kg weight, along with Intel Thunderbolt just like Apple's new MacBook Pro.

It's obviously the morning for Android tablet listings; we've seen the Dell Streak 7 WiFi pop up on Amazon, and now Toshiba's 10.1-inch Android tablet has been spotted staking out its online retail space. The Tegra 2 powered slate - which we grabbed some fleeting hands-on time with back at CES - also gets a long list of specifications, including HDMI, a full-sized USB 2.0 port and twin cameras.
