Amazon reportedly unveiling two 7-inch Kindle Fires on September 6

Many of you have already heard the rumors that claim Amazon will be revealing a new Kindle Fire next week at a press conference, and when it does, most were expecting to see a larger tablet on offer, similar to Apple's iPad. A new report is shedding some doubt on that, as CNET's anonymous sources claim that Amazon will be announce two new 7-inch Kindle Fires next week. Toshiba Satellite U920t hands-on

Windows 8 devices are all the rage at IFA this year, especially tablets. Toshiba has a new Satellite - the U920t - on the scene, and like many tablets we've seen, this one is convertible into a notebook. However, unlike a number of the tablets we've seen, you don't convert this tablet by attaching it to keyboard dock. iPad Mini appears in Apple code as iPad 2 redux

Instapaper creator Marco Arment is reporting that he has discovered references to two new iPads in Instapaper's device stats: iPad2,5 and iPad2,6. He's never seen these devices before, and he's thinking that they might be references to the long-rumored iPad Mini. Of course, he also points out that these entries could have been faked by hackers, but he doesn't think that's likely, and makes the case for the iPad Mini pretty well. Read The Full Story

Atari remakes gaming classics in HTML5 for browsers and Windows 8

Atari has decided that it's time to give some of its classic games a fresh coat paint, launching the new Atari Arcade. Eight of Atari's classic games have been updated using HTML5 and are playable in your browser for free. Google looking to sell Motorola’s set-top box unit

Google bought a lot of stuff when it purchased Motorola Mobility, but it turns out that the company isn't interested in some of it. Bloomberg reports that Google is looking to sell off Motorola's Home Business unit, which sells set-top boxes to cable providers. Epic and NVIDIA announce Unreal Engine 3 for Windows 8 and Windows RT

Epic and NVIDIA announced at IFA today that they've teamed up to bring Unreal Engine 3 to Windows 8 and Windows RT. The announcement was made during the ASUS Vivo Tab RT press conference earlier this morning, and we were given a demo of Unreal Engine 3 running on the device, which comes complete with a Tegra 3 processor. Google brings TrueView in-stream video ads to mobile devices

With more and more Internet users streaming video on their smartphones and tablets, Google is constantly looking for ways to monetize all of that. One of the ways the company is doing that is by bringing TrueView in-steam ads to YouTube videos on mobile devices. YouTube product group manager Phil Farhi announced these new mobile ads on the Google Mobile Ads Blog, and told TrueView users what they can expect now that mobile devices have been tossed into the mix. Last week, we caught word that a new Kindle Fire had apparently cleared the FCC. Today The Digital Reader has uncovered another Kindle device that has passed through the FCC, but whereas the device from last week appeared the be the next iteration of the Kindle Fire, this one seems to have more in common with the regular Kindle. Apple resellers reportedly making display room for new iPad

Hot on the heels of a rumor that has Verizon restricting September vacation time in anticipation of a new Apple launch, we have yet another rumor relating to the expected reveal. According to sources speaking to MacRumors, Apple resellers in Europe are being asked to increase the display space devoted to the iPad in their stores. If that doesn't shout "incoming iPad announcement" to you, then maybe this might: at least one of the sources MacRumors spoke to claims that Apple has given resellers a deadline of September 12 to increase their iPad display space. Samsung investing billions in mobile chip plant

Samsung has announced that it will be spending $3-$4 billion on upgrading one of its chip manufacturing plants in Austin, Texas. The Austin Statesman reports that Samsung will be upgrading "roughly half" of its plant in order to make higher quality chips for mobile phones and tablets, and that this process is expected to take around a year. That section of the plant was shut down last month, and when it opens back up in 2013, Samsung will have a variety of new equipment at its disposal. Read The Full Story
