Where are all the Surface Pro tablets?

, Feb 11th 2013 Discuss [0]

Microsoft's Surface Pro is apparently in short-supply, though whether that means the Windows 8 tablet is in hot demand or merely hardly seeded is already prompting controversy. The stylus-enabled slate - which we reviewed last week - went on sale over the weekend, only to be swiftly followed by claims that the larger, 128GB version had already sold out at multiple retailers. Earlier today, we reported that Microsoft's Surface Pro tablet is now available in the United States and Canada. Now a few hours later, reports are rolling in showing that the 128GB model is out of stock at many retailers, including Microsoft's online store in the US. Staples and Best Buy are also reported as having no 128GB model stock left. Read The Full Story

PSA: How to free up space on your Microsoft Surface Pro

, Feb 9th 2013 Discuss [0]

This week we're hearing quite a few responses from the public on their surprise at the amount of actual usable hard drive space on the new Microsoft Surface Pro. While the standard ways to free up the space taken up by apps, photos, and videos that you don't necessarily need, there's also a slightly more dangerous route you might take. One of the largest space-users on the Microsoft Surface Pro (see our full review here) is the Windows 8 on-board recovery partition. Read The Full Story

Microsoft avoids Surface head-to-head war with Nexus 7

, Feb 7th 2013 Discuss [0]

If you thought the Surface Pro was great, but only if Microsoft decided to shave a few inches off and make the tablet more "mini", you may be in luck. Though the Microsoft Surface RT and the Surface Pro are going to be the mainstay units for the Windows 8 and Windows RT operating systems for some time to come, it's been made clear by the company this week that different display sizes are a possibility. At this point it's just a matter of time. Read The Full Story

The reviews are in for Microsoft's Surface Pro, and while it's been a mixed bag overall, we actually enjoyed our time with the tablet, but one area that many people weren't too pleased about was battery life. During our tests, we were getting around 4.5 to 5 hours, with 6 hours during some occasions. However, it looks like Microsoft may have a solution. Read The Full Story

Microsoft Surface Pro vs MacBook Air: a convenience war

, Feb 6th 2013 Discuss [0]

This week we’ve gotten our hands on the Microsoft Surface Pro for an extended review, and one of the first things to strike us was the idea that this device might be another competitor for the MacBook Air. With the Surface Pro running Windows 8 and the MacBook Air (the newest model, that is), running OS X, there’s some things that simply cannot be compared – some people simply prefer one over the other. When it comes down to the experience and one-on-one comparisons between these two devices, on the other hand, winning features shine through on both devices.

Microsoft Surface Pro Review

Microsoft met some resistance with its first Surface tablet, but that isn’t stopping the company from making a second attempt, this time with a full copy of Windows 8. Where the Surface RT left would-be tableteers confused with its partial app support, the Surface Pro is Windows on far more familiar territory: Intel silicon inside, and the full flexibility of a regular PC, simply with a touchscreen up-front. Of course, that also brings with it the same issues that have always plagued Windows-based tablets: battery life, weight, heat, and software usability. Does Microsoft’s own-brand slate finally put those criticisms to rest, and is this the tablet you should have in your bag? Read on for our full review.
