Super Talent makes some very nice flash storage solutions and other computer accessories and hardware. The company has announced that its USB 3.0 Express RC4 flash drive has now been certified for use with Windows To Go. Windows To Go is one of the new features in the Windows 8 Enterprise edition of the operating system.

This marks the second drive that Super Talent has certified for Windows To Go. Using the drive, users and network administrators are able to provision a full corporate image on the external flash drive allowing users to work from almost any computer using a familiar environment. Super Talent notes that it will unveil a “hardware secure” version of this drive soon.

Super Talent says that the RC4 will deliver high reliability and the real world performance that users need to work from a Windows To Go environment. The drive has four channels of NAND flash and uses a high-performance and low-power JMicron SSD/bridge controller. The drive also features enterprise-level provisioning allowing for performance of up to 240 MB/s during reads and up to 100 MB/s during write functions.

Like all USB 3.0 drives, the device is compatible with USB 2.0 ports. The drive will be available in three capacities including 32 GB, 64 GB, and 128 GB. Pricing for the drives is $74.99, $127.99, and $279.99 respectively.

SSD manufacturer Super Talent has launched a new, high-speed drive capable of over 500 MB/s read and write rates, targeted at hardcore users. The Super Talent TeraNova offers up to 480GB of solid-state capacity, paired with a modified SandForce 2200 controller in a 2.5-inch form-factor, making it suitable for performance desktops or notebooks.

There’s a SATA III 6Gbps connection, and speed-freaks should probably opt for the 240GB model if they want the best combination of performance. As the following table – using Super Talent’s own data – suggests, that model leads the TeraNova pack with a 540 MB/s sequential read rate and 520 MB/s sequential write rate. Still, even the lowest write rate is a healthy 480 MB/s.

All that speed will come in handy not just for booting up and shutting down your system – though it’s worth noting that an SSD-equipped notebook can be dramatically faster to load than an HDD-based counterpart – but for storage-intensive apps. Video and audio processing, image editing and the like are all improved using an SSD.

The Super Talent TeraNova begins shipping today, in 60GB, 120GB, 240GB and 480GB capacities. Pricing is yet to be confirmed

Super Talent has a wide-ranging line of SSDs for all sorts of different uses from enterprise use to the general consumer. Super Talent has unveiled a new SSD that it is aiming at the market for compact notebooks and tablets that need a 1.8-inch form factor drive to fit into very small footprints. The new SSD is called the MasterDrive KX3.

The KX3 uses the SATA II interface, needs only 3.3v to operate, and is very thin. The drive is only 5mm thick. The thin design and low power consumption means it will fit in very compact devices and will help extend the battery life for more run time. Despite the smallish size of the drive, the SSD offers impressive performance with sequential reads of 250MB/s and sequential writes at 140MB/s.

The KX3 is also available with an option that allows it to work in thin devices that run hotter with an extended temp version able to operate in a range of -40C to 85C. The SSD is in a metal enclosure and can be purchased in several capacities. The drive capacities include 32GB, 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB. Pricing and availability are unannounced at this time.

We talk about Super Talent quite a bit with the company always seeming to be offering up a new flash drive or SSD for us to check out. Today that company is back with a cool new flash drive that works with USB 3.0 and offers a virtual PC inside as well. The new device combines Creedo Personal with the Super Talent USB 3.0 Express RAM Cache flash drive.

The new drive is crazy fast when crammed into a USB 3.0 port and if you don’t have a USB 3.0 port, the thing is also very fast in a USB 2.0 port as well. Creedo is a portable Windows environment that can run totally from the flash drive allowing the drive to be used as a virtual PC. Creedo supports many Windows native applications and will work on any PC so you can take and entire PC with you on the go for access to your apps and content wherever you are.

The combination of the RAM Cache flash drive and Creedo makes using a virtual machine a snap and Super Talent figures that the offering is perfect for students that need to use a computer in a library or lab that is locked down preventing them from loading apps they want to run. The flash drive bundled with Creedo comes in three capacities including 16GB, 32GB, 64GB with prices of $79, $139, and $229.

Super Talent has put its 480GB UltraDrive MX SSD up for sale, offering the speed of an SSD along with the sort of capacity you’d usually associated with a regular platter-based hard drive. Announced back in July, the 2.5-inch drive packs dual interfaces, with both both SATA II and mini-USB connections for use as an internal or external drive, or indeed for easily imaging the SSD with the contents of your own storage if upgrading.

As for speed, Super Talent has used the JMicron 616 controller chipset, for theoretical 250MB/s read and 180MB/s write speeds. There’s also GC and Trim support, with compatible OSes, a 64MB cache, and over 1m hour MTFB.

Of course, speed and capacity doesn’t generally come cheap, and the Super Talent UltraDrive MX is no exception. Expect to pay around $1,199.99 for the new 480GB SSD.

Press Release:

Super Talent Now Shipping 480GB UltraDrive MX SSD

Dual Interface SSD makes the decision to upgrade to SSD even easier

San Jose, California – November 17, 2010 – Super Talent Technology, a leading manufacturer of Flash storage solutions and DRAM memory modules, today announced their 480GB UltraDrive MX SSD is now shipping.

The UltraDrive MX features a new dual-interface for both SATA II and mini-USB connections. The new dual-interface enables this SSD to offer a new level of flexibility and consumer convenience by enabling the customer to use this drive as either an internal SSD or an external SSD.

For customers thinking about upgrading their PC or notebook to a Solid State Disk, the dual-interface UltraDrive MX is perfect. Customers can first utilize the USB connector to create an image of their existing internal hard drive. Once complete, the drives can be swapped and the PC rebooted. In the past, creating such an image required an external hard disk enclosure. Now this operation can be completed, faster, easier and with less expense.

“Most customers know that Solid State Disks offer superior Performance, Reliability and Power Savings, yet they have been unable to makes the switch. The dual-interface on the UltraDrive MX enables a convenient bridge solution during this critical transition period.” – SuperTalent COO, CH Lee.

More than just convenient, the UltraDrive MX is also a real performer. The UltraDrive MX features the JMicron 616 which enables this SSD to reach an impressive 250MB/s Read and 180MB/s Write speeds. The UltraDrive MX also supports the latest GC and Trim features designed to keep this SSD running at optimum performance for the life of the drive.

This UltraDrive MX drive is an important addition to SuperTalent’s SSD lineup. The new UltraDrive MX represents a premium consumer offering and fits nicely between our Value Line and Enterprise SSD offerings.

The UltraDrive MX is now shipping in 60GB, 120GB, 240 and 480GB capacities.

The latest offering from Super Talent has surfaced called the USB Pico Mini and the new flash drives come in two styles.

The Pico Mini C has a retractable USB connector that tucks away inside a case that is about the size of a quarter. The Pico Mini D is the same size but has a case that slides up and down to hide the USB connector. Both of them look really nice and the small size would make them easy for me to lose. The Mini D has a connector that will let you hang it on a key ring though.

Super Talent is offering the small drives in different capacities that will make them appropriate for all sorts of uses. Both styles are offered in 2GB to 32GB of storage. It never ceases to impress me how much storage space we can cram into such a small device today.

The SSD is called the UltraDrive MX and has a new dual interface that allows the SSD to connect to a computer via either SATA II or mini-USB.

That means that the new SSD can be used either as an external storage solution or it can be used inside a machine for additional internal storage. The cool part of the dual interface drive is that a user looking to move all their existing data to the SSD can use the USB interface to make a disc image.

Once that disc image is complete, the UltraDrive MX can then be placed inside the new machine like a normal SSD. The SSD has read speeds of up to 250MB/s and write speed of up to 180MB/s. The SSD will ship on September 1 in 60GB, 120GB, 240GB, and 480GB capacities. Pricing is unknown at this time.

Cheap SSDs you say? Solid-state storage is always appealing, but the price tags such drives command tends to put off most mainstream users. Super Talent have outed a new range of drives, the Super Talent VSSD line, which promises not only performance but affordability, however; prices kick off at just $65.

Of course, there’s a hitch to that, and not surprisingly it’s one of capacity. $65 gets you an 8GB VSSD with a maximum 90MB/sec read speed and 30MB/sec write speed; Super Talent’s other VSSDs go from 16GB, through 32GB and top out at 64GB, with performance specs in the tablet below. You’re looking at $165 for the 64GB model, mind.

Press Release:

Super Talent Introduces Value SSD Product Line

Fast Entrance to the SSD World

San Jose, California – April 8, 2010 – Super Talent Technology, a leading manufacturer of Flash storage solutions and DRAM memory modules, today announced a new value solid state drive (SSD) product line dubbed Super Talent VSSD that brings performance and solid-state technology together at an incredible price.

Super Talent VSSD offers shorter OS bootup time, faster application loading, less system power consumption and a brand new experience the customer can never get from traditional hard-disks. VSSD takes full advantage of the 3Gbps SATA-II bandwidth. The VSSD is capable of sequential read speeds up to 150 MB/sec and sequential write speeds up to 100 MB/sec.

Available in capacities from 8GB to 64GB, Super Talent provides customers the option to enter the SSD world with a limited budget, but no compromise in performance. Customers can now build or upgrade a system economically, running the operating system and applications on the VSSD and storing data on a traditional hard-disk.

VSSDs have undergone exhaustive validation and stress testing in both Windows® and Linux environments to emerge as one of the most reliable SSDs available. These drives are encased in a lightweight polymer shell that protects the drives against physical damage. VSSDs are dramatically more resistant to shock and vibration than hard drives.

VSSDs are available now from Super Talent resellers worldwide at street prices ranging from about $65 for the 8GB model to around $175 for the 64GB model.

There have already been several announcements of different companies that will be showing off USB 3.0 gear at the show. Much of the gear will be hitting the market early next year for consumers to get their hands on too. Super Talent and Symwave have announced that they will be showing off the USB 3.0 RAIDDrive at CES 2010.

The drive uses the Symwave SW6318 device and will be offered in 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB capacities. Super Talent claims that the drive is ten times faster than other solutions with performance of more than 300 MB/sec.

The drive uses parallel channels of NAND flash in RAID 0 configuration to achieve the performance. The drive is small measuring in at 3.75″ x 1.5″ x 0.5″ and plugs directly into the USB port needing no cables or power adapters.

Some of the high-end DSLR cameras save to a faster storage medium called CompactFlash. These cards are much faster than SD cards, but tend to cost a lot more too. Super Talent has announced a new CompactFlash card called the CFast that promises much higher performance than the average CF card.

The CFast card uses the SATA interface to remove the bottleneck between the SSD and the computer. The new card has a maximum data transfer rate of 375MB/sec. That is over four times as fast as the 90MB/sec that the 600x CF cards are capable of.

Super Talent offers the CFast line in 32GB, 16GB, and 8GB capacities. The cards are standard CF Type I cards with operating shock ratings of 2,000Gs. The faster write speeds of the card make for less wait during fast burst shooting while the camera catches up.

The RAIDDrive line slips into a PCIe 2.0 slot on your mainboard and promise to deliver speeds that traditional SSDs can’t match because of the limitations of the SATA connection. The RAIDDrive series has a 1GB DRAM cache and comes in up to 2TB capacity.

The drive supports 4GB/sec of bandwidth, which is tens times what SATA-II can offer. Sequential read speeds of up to 1.4GB/sec are possible with the drive with sequential write speeds of up to 1.2GB/sec. The RAIDDrive has four discrete SSDs inside and comes in ES, WS, and GS versions. The RAIDDrive GS will sell for a whopping $4,999 and is aimed at gamers and enthusiasts.

Each of the drives have 128MB of DRAM cache and use a 3Gbps SATA-II interface. Power draw is down to 0.5W during reads and 0.15W while idle, and they’re also tipped to be more rugged, too, thanks to an aluminum shell.

The new Super Talent MasterDrive SX SSDs are available now, through retailers such as NewEgg and SuperBiiz. So far the only price we’ve seen is around $359 for the 128GB mid-range model.

Press Release:

Super Talent Unveils MasterDrive SX SSDs

128MB DRAM Cache Delivers Exceptional Write Speeds

San Jose, California – June 18, 2009 – Super Talent Technology, a leading manufacturer of Flash storage solutions and DRAM memory modules, today launched a new line of MasterDrive SX SSDs that incorporate 128MB of DRAM cache and reach new performance levels in high performance laptops.

The MasterDrive SX is based on an advanced new 8-channel controller and MLC NAND Flash. Its 8-channel architecture combined with a hefty 128MB of DRAM cache takes full advantage of the 3Gbps SATA-II bandwidth. The MasterDrive SX is capable of sequential read speeds up to 220 MB/sec and sequential write speeds up to 200 MB/sec.

MasterDrive SX SSDs have undergone thousands of hours of intensive validation and stress testing in both Windows® and LINUX environments to emerge as one of the most reliable SSDs available. These drives are encased in a sturdy yet lightweight aluminum shell that protects the drives against physical damage. MasterDrive SSDs are dramatically more resistant to shock and vibration than hard drives.
Another great advance in the MasterDrive SX is its power efficiency. The drive sips a mere half a watt of power in read mode, and 0.15 watts while idle. That’s considerably lower than typical notebook hard drives, and even lower than the vast majority of 2.5-inch SSDs. The benefits to users are less fan noise and longer battery life.
“We developed the MasterDrive SX series to offer extreme reliability at an aggressive price point that makes sense for mobile professionals and enthusiasts. Moreover, these drives boast power efficiency and write speeds that few SSDs can match”, said Super Talent Director of Marketing Joe James.
MasterDrive SX SSDs are available now in capacities up to 256GB through NewEgg and SuperBiiz. Street prices for the 128GB drive are around $359.

It’s the more expensive UltraDrive LE that sees the above performance stats, up from its original maximum read speed of 230MB/sec and original write speed of 170MB/sec. As for the UltraDrive ME, that goes from 200MB/sec read to 260MB/sec and from 160MB/sec write to 200MB/sec.

The Super Talent UltraDrive ME and LE are available in 32GB, 64GB and 128GB capacities, plus there’s a 256GB ME drive. All are 2.5-inch SATA-II drives; the company now offers a “performance refresh tool” which can rescue an SSD from data fragmentation.

And today is the day of the solid state drive. Or at least, it would seem that way. First, Corsair announced their 256GB SSD and now it’s all about Super Talent as they announce their latest product: a 512GB SSD.

Officially called the Super Talent MasterDrive RX 512GB SSD, this device really packs a punch. It features MLC NAND flash and some incredible read/write rates at 230MB/s and 200MB/s, respectively.

So, of course we’re all pretty impressed by this, and it would be great to get our hands on one of these, but there’s just one catch. The MasterDrive RX costs $1,499.99. And though it is available right now, I foresee a lot of waiting around to save up cash for this one.

Super Talent have announced a new SSD upgrade kit, intended to make expanding the storage of the ASUS S101 “luxury” netbook more straightforward. Replacement Mini PCIe boards are available in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB capacities; in its stock configuration, the S101 has a 16GB SSD.

That said, it’s hard to imagine why anyone would switch out the standard 16GB for a new, Super Talent chip; unless the replacement is faster, but without read/write performance figures for the stock Eee PC S101 it’s hard to tell. Of much more interest are the 32GB and 64GB models, which both offer 90MB/sec read speeds and 55MB/sec write speeds.

All three chips are available now, and upgrading the ASUS S101 is said to be a relatively straightforward task for anybody who knows which end of a screwdriver to hold and how to ground themselves against static. The 64GB chip has an MRSP of $169.

Press Release:

Super Talent Releases SSD Upgrade for Asus S101 Eee PC

Add Up to 64GB of Solid State Storage in Minutes

San Jose, California – January 28, 2009 – Super Talent Technology, a leading manufacturer of Flash storage solutions and DRAM memory modules, today launched an SSD, offered in capacities up to 64GB, that was specially designed as an upgrade for the Asus S101 Eee PC.

The Windows® model of the S101 includes only 16GB of local storage, so Super Talent’s upgrade SSD offers the S101 user the opportunity to double or quadruple the storage capacity in his netbook.

This new SSD has been rigorously tested in Super Talent’s compatibility labs for both performance and functionality to ensure it meets Super Talent’s high quality standards. With a SATA interface, it delivers impressive 90 MB/sec max sequential read speeds and up to 55 MB/sec write speeds.

Joe James, Super Talent’s director of marketing noted, “You can never have enough storage space. This is sure to be a popular upgrade for the S101.”

All three models are shipping now. The 64GB model will retail for approximately $169.

About Super Talent Technology

The MasterDrive OX is the more affordable model, which features multilevel cell NAND flash and 150MB per second and 100B per second data speeds for sequential read and sequential write, respectively. You can get this solid-state hard drive with up to 128GB of storage and it will cost you $419.

The MasterDrive PX, on the other hand, is a bit more expensive and uses single-level cell NAND flash, 170MB/second and 130 MB/second sequential read and sequential write speeds and a high level of endurance. You can get this drive with either a 32GB or 64 GB capacity, which cost $499 and $849, respectively.
