Star Wars Episode 8 has been delayed

While the original release date for Star Wars Episode 8 was set for May of 2017, we'll now be seeing placement closer to that of The Force Awakens. Very likely due to the massive appeal of a December showing due to the best-in-history ticket sales of Star Wars: Episode 7, Disney has decided to push the release of Episode 8 back a few months. That'll be seven months later than it was originally planned, but has no effect on the release of Star Wars: Rogue One (aka Rogue One, a Star Wars Story).

Kylo Ren SNL action figure mockups imagine Matt, Radar Technician

Just days after Adam Driver's appearance on Saturday Night Live, his sketch as Kylo Ren's alter-ego Matt, Radar Technician, has gone viral. Today we've been sent a couple of mock-ups of action figures based on the character - likely never hitting shelves, of course, but we're allowed to dream. Would that NBC were to see enough call for such a set of figures, we might see it happen. They'd both be essential additions to your collection, that much is true. UPDATE: Additional figures added.

The X-Wing vs TIE-Fighter game reboot you wish we had

The X-Wing vs TIE-Fighter game reboot you wish we had

Today we're having a peek at a game that we'd love to see come to fruition: X-Wing vs TIE-Fighter (modern). This new game would be one that builds on the excellence that were the first X-Wing and TIE-fighter games, coming correct with not only new graphics, but fully updated gaming models, including multi-screen interaction and the possibility of virtual reality gameplay. Now that you can get the original games after 20 years (now released through GOG, completely DRM-free and offline if you wish), we've got a hankering to get back in the cockpit.

Death Star Waffle Maker makes waffles unlike any other

Some people can create art from their breakfast foods -- pancakes in the shape of popular cartoon characters, for example. Most of us lack those creative skills but wouldn't mind having a themed breakfast. Enter the Death Star Waffle Maker, a waffle maker that, as the name suggests, creates waffles in the shape and with the details of the Death Star from Star Wars.

The Force Awakens VFX reel shows surprising use of real props

The Force Awakens VFX reel shows surprising use of real props

These days, almost everyone expects "movie magic" to involve some computer generated images, especially in action films and most especially in science fiction action films. Naturally, Star Wars: The Force Awakens is one such movie and, indeed, the film is filled with CG shots. 2,100 out of 2,500 shots in total, to be precise. But while this VFX clip does show the extent that CG was used in the film, it also reveals at the extent it was not used, expertly weaving real world, physical props and sets when possible and only falling back to baked graphics when necessary.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens – Who is TR-8R?

Star Wars: The Force Awakens – Who is TR-8R?

This morning Star Wars officially made public the identity of the Star Wars: The Force Awakens character TR-8R. "Traitor!" He's a mad one. As suspected, this stormtrooper goes by the name FN-2199, one of three troopers revealed in the book "Before the Awakening", a set of short stories giving background on the three main characters in the film. That story was about FN-2187, aka Finn. This character knew Finn well before the awakening, hence the knowledge of his being a traitor when he finds him on Takodana, near Maz's castle.
