Star Wars 1313 isn’t dead yet

A massive-scale 3rd-person action game called "Star Wars 1313" was "canceled" when Disney acquired Lucasfilm - now that game's remnants may be fueling The Force Awakens. Not just a new video game, reworked and retooled for a more film-friendly title, but for the first film in the new trilogy, as well. The game bit we'll be discussing in short today - the movie part of this equation we'll be saving for when we've got more details from Lucasfilm. Today's details involve Amy Hennig, Todd Stashwick, and the transfer of writing power from the Uncharted series to Star Wars 1313.

NVIDIA creating “any technology that helps them make Star Wars faster”

Earlier this week NVIDIA CEO Jen-Hsun Huang confirmed that Lucasfilm was using NVIDIA technology to make Star Wars: The Force Awakens. "I'm out-of-my-body excited about this," said Huang, "I'll create any technology that helps them make Star Wars faster." Today NVIDIA confirmed what hardware Lucasfilm was using to push the next generation in Star Wars production. "To create the most immersive and visually exciting imagery imaginable," said Lutz Latta, Principal Engineer at Lucasfilm, "Lucasfilm artists and developers need optimal graphics performance and GPU power."

Star Wars Battlefront set for reveal at Star Wars Celebration 2015

In Anaheim, California between the 16th and the 19th of April - coming quick - Star Wars Celebration 2015 will take place. There we'll get more than the average dosage of Star Wars-related data and fan-friendly releases, amongst them a handy helping of the newest Battlefront game. This space-faring Battlefront will be the first information gush on the title since it was first revealed at E3 2014. Star Wars Speeder Bike drone puts mini trooper in the air

Joining the growing number of drones crafted to be miniature flying replicas of movie staples is a new mini Star Wars speeder bike being piloted by a Scout Trooper. Any Return of the Jedi fan will recognize the replica, while hobbyist will note that at its core the drone is a quadcopter. We've got some footage of it in action, of course, and thanks to a tiny camera in the trooper's helmet, there's also some nice first-person video footage to join it.

‘Rogue One’ revealed as first standalone Star Wars movie

Disney CEO Bob Iger dropped details on the upcoming Star Wars movies today at the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco. We've known for a while now that standalone movies were part of the plan, and this morning we learned the title of the first standalone film: 'Rogue One'. Gareth Edwards will be directing this one and Chris Weitz will be writing it, though the idea itself hails from Industrial Light & Magic's John Knoll. The movie is set to premiere next December.

Today the Star Wars PR spirits have been kind - they've revealed the title of the next Star Wars stand-alone film AND details on Star Wars VIII. This next Star Wars film will be continuing the events that end at the finale of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Star Wars VIII does not yet have a title, but it does have a writer and a director - both will be Rian Johnson. This fellow also directed some of the most awesome action and sci-fi movies of the past several years, including Brick, The Brothers Bloom, and Looper.

We've covered Darth Vader figurines in the past, but none quite as big as this one. The Darth Vader collectible from Sideshow Toys is a quarter-scale of the real thing, measuring in at more than two feet in height with all the trimmings of the real deal. Just incase you haven't had enough collaboration between the Star Wars and Lego franchises yet, a new special from Disney will have re-watching the entire first two trilogies, albeit in plastic brick form. Lego Star Wars: Droid Tales is part of Disney's effort to promote and draw in new audiences for the December release of the new Star Wars film, The Force Awakens. Set to premiere on the Disney XD channel, the miniseries will be released as five episodes, each 22 minutes long.
