First Star Wars 3D trailer released [Video]

, Nov 4th 2011 Discuss [11]

For those of you not following along with every tiny movement of George Lucas and his never-ending stream of ideas on how to re-present his film collection, it may come as a surprise to you that Star Wars will be re-released in 3D format in theaters starting in 2012 - today's trailer being final proof. It started as a rumor after George himself hinted at a release of the films in a 3D format after having first seen AVATAR in 3D, saying that the technology had finally caught up with his vision for a 3D presentation of the saga. Now we've got the first 3D trailer for a big-screen release. Read The Full Story

Google says Siri like Star Wars, Android more like Star Trek

, Oct 28th 2011 Discuss [45]

While the rest of the world was running around crashing its head into a wall in excitement over the just-revealed Galaxy Nexus and finalized Ice Cream Sandwich from Google, we had a sit-down with several Android authorities, one of whom, Matias Duarte to be exact, had a rather interesting take on the difference between voice controls in Android and Apple’s Siri. As you well know, one of the biggest features on the newest set of Apple mobile hardware and software is Siri, a voice-controlled assistant, where Android still totes several voice-activated features across the board. What we heard from Duarte in Hong Kong was that he’s thought long and hard about this situation and has come up with the nerdiest explanation of all.

Star Wars The Old Republic now set for global simultaneous launch

, Oct 15th 2011 Discuss [2]

It's time for the newest and hopefully last date change for the release of the Star Wars MMORPG - The Old Republic. This is a game that, for the lay person, will be comparable to World of Warcraft in its scope, allowing players to create their own character with whom they'll be able to experience the entire Star Wars universe as it unfolds before them. Have battles, accomplish missions, swing some lightsabers around, the whole shebang. The newest word on this upcoming game is that there will be a global launch - with North America and the European territories on the list thus far and no sign of greater Asia - on December 20th, 2011. Xbox 360 branded harddrive a maniacal deal

, Oct 12th 2011 Discuss [4]

And what are those Star Wars characters doing there in the picture? Let me tell you, ladies and gentlemen - the cost and the characters have to do with one another, but they certainly don't seem to be equalling out. First, you may have seen this harddrive before - the same device comes in packs with Gears of War 3 and Modern Warfare 3, amongst others. Those of you who want to get the harddrive by itself will have to pay a penny that's much more pretty than you could have ever imagined: $130 USD. Not quite the droids we were looking for. Lightsaber tie tacks keep your tie in place

, Oct 10th 2011 Discuss [0]

If you are the geek sort that works in an environment where you have to wear pants and dress up with a tie, I am sorry for you. At least you can show how geeky you are with these wild tie tacks. The things look like little metal lightsabers. They are made of cast brass, but they look like pewter to me. I think the Sith Lord might have worn this to his Senate meetings. Read The Full Story

ThinkGeek Star Wars Lightsaber Candlestick lands in December

, Oct 6th 2011 Discuss [0]

There are more Star Wars branded products out there than you can shake a stick at making many fans of the franchise angry that George Lucas pimps out our childhood memories to just about anyone. The place that makes some of the coolest licensed gear is ThinkGeek and I have yet to be disappointed by stuff that it offers. ThinkGeek has a new Star Wars item that is called the Star Wars Lightsaber Candlestick. Read The Full Story

Star Wars Old Republic global support base opened in Ireland

, Sep 26th 2011 Discuss [3]

Of all the places in the world to open a support facility, it had to be Ireland that took on the task of providing support to masses for the new Star Wars MMORPG game The Old Republic as it ramps up for launch on December 20th and 22nd. Of course I and we have no reason to be saying such a thing, in fact such an island base will likely be the greatest place to avoid the craziest of game players that'll more than likely try to swim to the support group in hopes of getting their lightsaber license re-activated after having chopped up too many ewoks. You following me? If you are, this is definitely going to be the game for you. Read The Full Story

DIY hottie makes the Death Star look GOOD

, Sep 20th 2011 Discuss [5]

Take a hot chick and put her in a DIY anything that is from a geek flick and you have instant win. The DIY R2-D2 helmet that we saw a while back was a perfect example of Star Wars DIY. Here is another example of Star Wars DIY and this is hotter than the helmet if you ask me. I missed this when it turned up on the Star Wars Blog back in July, but it surfaced again recently. Star Wars Blu-ray Promo continues Verizon’s love of the Force [Video]

, Sep 16th 2011 Discuss [5]

It's no coincidence that Verizon has a promotion going with the folks at Lucasfilm promoting the brand new release of the Star Wars movies on Blu-ray. Verizon has been working with the owners of the Star Wars franchise for some time now, going so far as to release a special R2-D2 edition Droid device approximately one year ago this month. What the folks at Verizon and Lucasfilm have for you this week is a text-sending promotion in which you'll receive a lovely video of some highlights from the series, all centered around a single character. You'll be able to do this on your Android, iPhone, BlackBerry, or any other video-capable device, for the most part. Read The Full Story

Lucasfilm Singapore getting new building in 2012 that looks like a Sandcrawler!

, Sep 5th 2011 Discuss [4]

I think that like most Star Wars fans I have a love/hate relationship with George Lucas. He has been behind the two iconic franchises of my youth with Star Wars and Indiana Jones. Lucas has pimped Star Wars out more than I like in some instances, and he keeps changing things in the films that I thought were already excellent. Still, he is good for something epic every now and again. Read The Full Story

Lucas mods Return of the Jedi Blu-ray, Vader says Nooooo!

, Sep 2nd 2011 Discuss [8]

I am not sure if I want to drive at to Cali, find George Lucas, and kick him in both of his testicles for changing the Star Wars films again or be pumped that the Blu-ray release is very close. These are after all some of the most iconic and memorable movies from my childhood. The reality is I am feeling a little of both right now. I mentioned a few weeks back that Lucas had said changes were coming. Read The Full Story

If Jaba lived on Hoth, he would rock the Han Solo carbonite ice tray

, Aug 26th 2011 Discuss [0]

When I look at this Han Solo carbonite silicone ice tray I can't help but wonder why. Why do I not have one of these. Put some grape juice or other dark juice in this and you could have your own carbonite solo floating in your punch bowl. This would be perfect for your punch bowl during your Star Wars Blu-ray viewing party. Read The Full Story
