We can still remember the days when you needed a whole bunch of wires, strung up along the wall or hidden beneath the carpet, and speakers placed methodically throughout a living room or bedroom, to recreate that beautiful surround sound experience we all love so much in theaters. Over years that's changed in one way or another, and even more recently these sound bars, a single bar with set speakers within them, seem to be taking up all the attention. Every speaker I have ever owned have been in square or rectangle boxes that looked basically the same on the outside whether they were $20 Walmart specials or multi thousand dollar high-end speakers with tweeters made from unicorn horns and fairy dust. You can get speakers that are as much sculpture as they are for music and home theater on one of the cooler looking concept designs I have seen is the Pendolo. Read The Full Story

Onkyo have outed a range of new home A/V equipment that offers HDMI v1.4 connectivity and 3D video support. The new line-up includes a pair of full-sized receivers, the TX-SA578 and the TX-SA608, a pair of mini-systems, the BASE-V30HDX and BASE-V20HDX, and a 2.1-channel sub/speaker system, the HTX-22HDX. Philips SoundSphere with free-floating tweeters

Philips is heading into the hi-fi game, with its new SoundSphere home stereo lineup. The MCi900 and MCD900, will both set sail with two speakers, 100 watts of ample amplification, and “free floating” tweeters that are physically outside of the speaker enclosure, for better acoustics.
