Kenwood OLED lamps with integrated speakers

Kenwood have unveiled a prototype speaker system that doubles as OLED lighting. The system, co-developed by Kenwood and Professor Junti Kido from Yamagata University in Japan, uses 80-percent less power than traditional lighting, as well as being noisier than your typical desk lamp. Keeping roughly the same design and tweeter of the X-mini II (shown on the right), the Happy adds an SD/SDHC slot for up to 8GB cards and onboard mediaplayer, meaning it can be used as a palm-sized music system. The former uses A2DP Bluetooth together with Zirene Power Bass for audio enhancement, and has a folding headband for portability. Sony Ericsson have announced a portable Bluetooth speaker that, thanks to a splash-proof casing, is suitable for outdoor use. The Sony Ericsson MS500 measures 113 x 83 x45 mm and runs for up to 5hrs on two AA batteries; it uses the Bluetooth A2DP profile for stereo streaming from a cellphone or PMP, and the AVRCP for remote control.
