Marshall Hanwell Anniversary Edition amp gives your smartphone a tune-up

If there's one thing we've liked about Marshall over the past year (not that there's just one, of course), it's that they're able to present a whole new angle on the mobile music world by simply implementing the aesthetics they've already got in place for on-stage audio. What you've got here is the release of the Marshall Hanwell Anniversary Edition amplifier, made specifically for your smartphone and bearing the distinction of being the very first home audio product to be released with "Marshall's legendary script logo."

Black Diamond III multi-sensory bluetooth speaker hits the lights

Black Diamond III multi-sensory bluetooth speaker hits the lights

It's not directly related to the fabulous early hit by the Hottest Band in the World, but will certainly look good while you're playing it: this is the Black Diamond III multi-sensory Bluetooth speaker. This machine is the first Bluetooth speaker "capable of mimicking music beats and rhythms through color and movement," so says Sales and Marketing Manager of Acase Tom Hsieh. And for those of you wondering why there's a "III" on the tail of this little ball of magic, you'll want to head back to the Black Diamond archives more than once.

Marley Chant Bluetooth Review

Marley Chant Bluetooth Review

The Marley family of audio equipment (and the like) has summoned forth a coffee-cup-sized speaker that's able to connect to your device via Bluetooth or line-in, and it goes by the name Chant. This portable audio system wears much of the same materials that we've seen in previous Marley hardware including Earth-friendly natural bamboo wood and canvas, not to mention that lovely Rasta color pallet to boot. This little beast is rechargable, works entirely wirelessly, and makes for one easy-riding sound blaster.

Libratone Zipp Review

Libratone Zipp Review

Time was, if you wanted a wooly column of wireless musical pleasure, you had to train a sheep to stand upright and sing. Libratone's new Zipp, however, changes that: a wool wrapped portable speaker delivering not only Apple's AirPlay but a tweaked version intended for the wide open spaces that the Zipp - or sheep, for that matter - might go frolicking in. Read on for the SlashGear review.

iNUKE BOOM Junior shrinks the iPhone speaker beast

iNUKE BOOM Junior shrinks the iPhone speaker beast

Right at the end of last year the iNUKE BOOM was announced by behringer as the most ridiculously gigantic iPhone dock ever created - now the group has a much more reasonably sized companion. Instead of working with an 8 x 4 x 4-foot coffin of a speaker, one that cost $30k, you've got 8.7 x 16.5 x 9.8-inches of bulk at a much more reasonable $179.99. This device works with 2 x 1-inch tweeters, 2 x 3-inch midrange speakers, 1 x 5.25-inch woofer, and 10.6 pounds of weight - even if it is smaller, its still no pipsqueak!

Libratone Zipp takes AirPlay mobile

Wool-clad speaker company Libratone has outed its latest model, the Zipp, a wireless AirPlay-enabled model with battery life good for four hours of standalone streaming. Borrowing the fabric covered style of its felty predecessors, the Zipp supports direct AirPlay connections using Libratone's own PlayDirect WiFi technology, allowing the $399 speaker to hook straight up to your iPhone or iPad rather than requiring a wireless network in-between.

CUBEDGE EDGE.sound Bluetooth speaker boots Solemate for battery life

Bluetooth speakers continue to proliferate, and with wireless sound no longer sufficient to wow on its own, companies like CUBEDGE are turning to audio quality to try to eke out an advantage. The EDGE.sound, despite having an oddly punctuated name, does at least do its best to hit all the right points on the frequency range, with the battery-powered block delivering 40HZ-20kHz audio.

Jabra Solemate hands-on

Jabra Solemate hands-on

There's a new mobile wireless speaker in town and it goes by the name Jabra Solemate - and it looks like a really strange shoe. This device is indeed as the manufacturer describes - about the size and weight of a water bottle - and is able to play wirelessly (with Bluetooth), with a standard 3.5mm audio cord, or with a USB cable. This device has an integrated subwoofer and dual tweeters to keep you banging even in the most mobile-minded of places.
