Sparrow, the popular email client for iPhone, was acquired by Google over the summer, and it was announced the acquisition would mean no more feature updates for the app. However, that doesn't mean the Sparrow team would skip full iOS 6 and iPhone 5 support, so they ended up pushing out an update, but to everyone's surprise, it was rejected by Apple.

Sparrow iPhone 5 support coming soon
The extremely popular and loved by many iOS and Mac email client Sparrow will be getting a much needed update soon. After being acquired by Google we later learned the popular app would get a feature freeze, and no further updates would be coming with what they called a ‘bug fix only’ status. Today however we learned of an upcoming update many Apple fans should be excited to hear about.

Google captures Sparrow iOS/Mac email app [Update: Feature freeze]
Popular iOS and Mac email app Sparrow has been acquired by Google, with the team responsible for the iPhone and OS X app headed to take up roles in Google's Gmail division. "We care a lot about how people communicate, and we did our best to provide you with the most intuitive and pleasurable mailing experience" Sparrow announced today. "Now we're joining the Gmail team to accomplish a bigger vision."

Sparrow 1.2 released: Apple denies push request
Another update for the iOS mail client Sparrow has been pushed out today, bringing it to version 1.2. New features include additional languages, landscape support, label creation and editing from within the app, and refined message navigation. While many of you are probably waiting for push support, Sparrow has posted to its blog saying that Apple won’t make an exception despite the strong demand for the feature.

Sparrow for iPhone updated to 1.1: push coming “with or without Apple”
The popular email client for iOS, Sparrow, has today been updated to version 1.1. It brings some new features as well as enhancements. There’s a new Send & Archive feature, which does exactly what the name implies, an in-app web browser that means you don’t have to jump out of the app whenever you click a link in an email, and dock badge preferences, which allows you to pick which email accounts you want to register as a red badge on the app icon.
