The Sony XPERIA S is the second smartphone released by the manufacture, alongside the XPERIA Ion LTE. Though this version doesn't have 4G LTE, it takes advantage of HSPA+ for up to 21MBps speeds. The most noticeable difference of the XPERIA S was how much thinner it was than the Ion, and of course that see-through glow along the bottom of the casing.

We've gotten the opportunity this week to first bear witness to AT&T's real dropping of the hammer on the LTE world with six new devices, then one by one we've been allowed to get up close and personal with them - here with the Sony Xperia ion. This device is Sony Ericsson's first LTE enabled device and has no less than one massively impressive 12-megapixel camera. The back facing camera is also able to film 1080p video, while the front-facing camera is capable of 720p video. This device is both sleek and lovely.

Said to have a 3.7-inch 854 x 480 touchscreen and 1GHz dual-core processor, according to Xperia Blog's sources, the MT27i "Pepper" seems to be intended for the mid-range with its 5-megapixel, 720p-capable camera.

This week we're getting our fair share of viral marketing from the folks at Sony Ericsson for the device their teasing for CES 2012, and with this newest tease from the group, we've got what appears to be the back, this connected with the rest of the leaks showing off the entirety of the device. What we saw earlier today was photos of the sides and the front of the device, it being a generally candybar-looking smartphone with a lovely stylish metallic strip along the bottom and black plastic around the edges. This week we're seeing Sony Ericsson teasing what's more than likely an Android device under a fancy white sheet saying it's Something Big and that it'll be revealed next week - this setting it precisely in line with CES 2012. There's reportedly a device on the way from Sony Ericsson and about to be carried by AT&T which has LTE connectivity, a 4.55-inch 720p display, and a 13 megapixel camera on the back. If that wasn't enough, this device is set to be Sony Ericsson's "big push" into the United States with a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, and will more than likely be revealed at CES 2012. This leak comes in two bits, one of them in an "End Product Detail" one-sheet from what appears to be deep inside Sony Ericsson, the other a set of 13 megapixel photos taken with the device's camera.

Sony Ericsson details Android 4.0 upgrades: Kick off March 2012

Sony Ericsson has detailed its Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade plans, with the roll-out of Android 4.0 expected to hit the XPERIA arc S, XPERIA neo V and XPERIA ray first, from the end of March or the beginning of April 2012. The company has promised to upgrade all of its current devices to Ice Cream Sandwich, though it may be near the middle of next year before some users actually see the updated software. Sony Ericsson outs ICS alpha for XPERIA arc S, Ray and Neo V

Sony Ericsson has released an Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0.1 alpha ROM for XPERIA arc S, neo V and XPERIA ray owners, though there are some significant limitations to functionality that make it unsuitable for everyday use. The ROM - which is intended for those with unlocked XPERIA handsets complete with an unlocked bootloader - comes without Google's core apps, like Gmail and Google Maps, shuts off the cellular radio, WiFi and Bluetooth, deactivates ANT+ and doesn't yet support the FM radio.

This week we get our first "in the wild" look at the Sony Ericsson Arc HD, also known by its code-name Sony Ericsson Xperia Nozomi - and it's looking pretty snappy! While the Arc HD name is not 100% set at the moment, we can see here that this phone is pretty close to production, as the tipster dropping this phone to GSM Arena doth state. Inside you'll find Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread, the front has a 4.3-inch LCD display at HD resolution - 1280 x 720 pixels, and the rumor is that this masterpiece holds a 1.5GHz dual-core Scorpion processor paired with the Adreno 220 GPU.
