SlashGear has been hanging out with Google this week, at the I/O 2009 conference.  You can read our first day and second day highlights for the full details, but perhaps the most interesting news was Google’s Wave demo for iPhone and Android, and Andy Rubin’s confirmation that there should be 18-20 Android handsets on the market by the end of the year.  One of those is expected to be the HTC Hero; make sure to check out the promo video for the chin-heavy smartphone.

SlashGear were at Sony Ericsson’s London launch event for the Yari and Aino cellphones today, and we grabbed the chance to get some hands-on time with the pair.  According to Sony Ericsson, the aim of the new devices – plus their flagship Satia sibling – is to blend entertainment and communication.  With that in mind, the Aino (seen here) can stream content from a PlayStation 3 via the Sony Remote Play system, while the Yari is packed with motion-sensitive games.

Sony Ericsson’s final new cellphone today is the Yari, a motion-gaming handset that brings Wii-style games to a mobile handset.  Yari uses sensors hidden in its bezel to recognize body movement, together with accelerometers and gesture controls.  There’s also a new Gaming Carousel menu, with access to downloadable games from the desktop.
