The eye-popping Nikiski wasn’t the only new form factor that Intel explored in its CES press conference. It also showed off an Ultrabook design called the Slider that’s not unlike a few of the smartphones and tablets we’ve seen in the last few years. Like a QWERTY smartphone, it hides a full keyboard beneath a sliding screen, running on standard x86 hardware and low-voltage chips.

The design on display is fully functional, and Intel hopes that its OEM partners will utilize it to explore more options for making “laptops” smaller and lighter. Specifications weren’t available, but it looks like a 12 or 13 inch display, and the keyboard section accomodates a nearly full-sizek keyboard for comfortable typing. Useers can also hold it tablet-style and thumb type.

The whole concept device looks and feels a lot like the Asus Eee Pad Slider, which uses a similar mechanism. It isn’t significantly smaller or lighter than other ultrabooks on display, so the only real advantage is the tablet-style form factor, which may become more popular as Windows 8 and its touch-friendly features arrive. Look for more interesting designs beyond the standard clamshell to appear in the next 6-12 months.

Pantech has hooked up with AT&T to deliver their very first Android-based effort here in the United States. This device will be a mid-range phone with emphasis on messaging and the use of social media, delivering these things with it’s full QWERTY slide-out keyboard and a lovely 3.1-inch full touchscreen display. This device will be available June 5 for $69.99 with a two-year contract and minimum monthly data plan. Cute or rough enough for that last straggling family member not in the smartphone club?

An odd factor with this phone that I believe might be important to mention is that it will be traveling along this summer with the Dew Tour, a Mountain Dew touring of x-games individuals riding their BMX bikes and skateboards doing tricks and flips and bashing their brains in for your entertainment! Look for this phone to sell off the shelves as a result. Of course, with a unique look like this, with all the sharp corners and slidy goodness you can handle, one would have already expected such a thing, yes?

This device will be connecting along the following: HSPA Tri-Band 850/1900/2100 MHz; Quad-Band GSM850/900/1800/1900 MHz and Wi-Fi: 802.11 b/g/n, it has voice recognition and an accelerometer, micro USB jack for data transfer and power, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. In addition, it’s got a 1500 mAh batter which, given that this phone is relatively small, should last you for several days, no problem. It’s got a 3-megapixel camera on the back with fixed focus and 4x zoom, and it sizes in at 4.45″ (L) x 2.28″ (W) x 0.56″ (D), Weight: 5.15 oz. Also there’s a microSD card slot pre-installed with a 2GB card and space for a 32GB card.

The photos depict a Pre-like slider, and a touchscreen front similar to the current Storm2 from RIM, but there’s also an optical trackpad below the touchscreen display. Previous reports suggest the unconfirmed handset will have 802.11n Wi-Fi, BlackBerry OS 6.0, and a 480×360 display onboard.

RIM has yet to verify anything about a new slider device; we’re hoping to find out more soon. For example, will it run the new blazing WebKit browser?

We got a crate sent to us from Korea, and we weren’t sure what was inside. When I say crate, I mean wooden crate that required a hammer and crow bar to pry open. The precious cargo housed inside was worth the protection. A chorus of angels sang out in the middle of a Home Depot, and I laid eyes upon the Samsung S8300 Tocco Ultra Edition.

The Tocco is a slider/touchscreen phone, featuring the Samsung TouchWiz UI, an 8MP camera, Bluetooth 2.1, microSD card slot, front facing camera for video calls and of course an AMOLED touchscreen display. The phone is beautiful, with red accents and a brushed aluminum facing. I was impressed not only by the packaging (It’s not every day you get a wooden crate) but by the sleek design of the phone, and fast response from the UI.

We got it all on video for you, exploring the initial impressions of the phone. The Tocco is cool looking, it feels good, sounds good, and happens to be absent from U.S. shores. We don’t know when it’ll be hitting GSM carriers in the U.S., but keep an eye out for this sleek-slider, and until then, enjoy the unboxing!

Although it does have WCDMA that T-Mobile could unleash on their 1700MHz network. It has A2DP Bluetooth, a 220×176 display, a 1.3MP camera, and a microSD card slot.

It’s a slider, and as I said before, a darn ugly one at that, but it does support myFaves and the T-Mobile Address Book. If you wan one, you can get it now for $99.99 online after all applicable discounts and a 2-year contract.

So the Helio Mysto, the second phone Helio stole from Samsungs top of the line Ultimate Edition line, is finally hitting the market so everyone can get one. If I may remind you, they had a 2-day sale of them in just a couple stores for the two days right after Christmas and then that was it.

Well now they are hitting all the channels officially. In case you’ve forgotten, it’s the Samsung U600 Ultimate Edition slider phone. It has GPS and a 2MP camera as well as a few electro-static buttons that offer up some tactile feedback too.

The screen is nearly a mirror when its off, and for a slider, its extremely thin, as with all the other Ultimate Edition phones. But with the Mysto also comes a few new GPS features including WHERE and Tellme, there is even localize Twitter.

With Tellme you can perform a voice search and it will return localized results, local to where you actually are, and from the results you can select the closest or the one you intended and then either get the phone number, address, turn by turn directions, or send the directions to a friend. The WHERE service is a GPS widget platform for a whole bunch of location based services and is accessible through the location-aware browser that’s included in the Mysto.

I want one so bad, I am seriously ready to change up my Fin for one of these, and I love my Fin, a lot. However if you or I want one it will cost us $149 with the standard Helio contract, oh, and the Tellme service is $2.99 per month.

If you click through the via link there are more photos and a video of the Unboxing. Well, it’s a slider, it’s bluish, thin, and it has a camera (I think I saw 2MP in the video).

It also has GPS, and all the other goodness that Helio phones always come with. Oh, and for those of you doubting the power of the GPS in these phones, I was with my family last night, we hit a lot a fog and lost our GPS signal from our main GPS device, and visibility was about 4-5 feet in front of the vehicle, so I fired up my Fin and not only got a signal, but got us back on track.

Not on a mass scale though, apparently they’ll actually only be available in the Helio NYC and Santa Monica stores, and even then they won’t be advertised at all, you’ll have to specifically ask for one to even see it, let alone buy it. However, word is, there should be enough available for everyone that shows up and asks for one on the 26th and 27th, then after that they’ll probably be out of supply, for about a month.

Oh yeah, did I mention the 26th was the first day that you could pick one up? Well it is, also, we know from our own Vincent Nguyen that the device was being made in the Gumi plant, he knows this from his tour he did with Samsung not too long ago.

Also, all the pictures below are of flip phones, but that’s just because that’s all that Vincent took photos of, I am pretty sure the Mysto is a slider, another one from the Ultra Edition of top shelf cell phones that Samsung makes. I want one really bad, by the way, word is we might be getting one in for review very soon.

Its 13.3mm and a slider, I want a slider that thin to hit stateside, I love sliders, but they are always so thick, I guess this one is the exception. It has MP3 playback, a dictionary, camera, and 3G thanks to WCDMA.

Sadly though it will never see the light of day stateside, its headed only to Korea’s KTF network and will cost you the equivalent of about $372 USD. Oh, in case you were wondering, there is no T-DMB in this phone.

The next addition to the RAZR-like devices is well on its way gaining the approval of the FCC. The Moto RIZR Z6c is headed to the VZW or Verizon Wireless.

This is another one of those devices getting the “World Edition” badging due to its dual-band CDMA/EV-DO and Dual-Band GSM (900/1800MHZ) which means you can use it in most of Eurasia as well. Imagine the Motorola SLVR, but in slider form with the RAZR style keypad underneath, and that’s pretty much the RIZR in a nutshell.

It also has a QVGA display and a 2MP cam as well as Stereo Bluetooth (A2DP), and a microSD card slot. Honestly it’s the first phone in a long time I’ve been excited about the release of from Motorola, which is kind of sad as they used to own the mobile handset market, now its in the hands of the up and comers, Apple, HTC, LG, and Samsung, and I must say, those companies at least, are doing a damn fine job.

The new LG Venus is being a bit overshadowed by bigger wireless releases this holiday season, such as the Verizon’s own Voyager. But this touchscreen, slider phone really stands out once you get your hands on it. We’ve got the unboxing video for you, together with a quick comparison to the Voyager.

The Venus from LG offers up two screens, the larger a standard LCD, the lower, and slightly smaller, a touchscreen. But what else does this sleekly attractive device have to offer?

It has a 2MP camera, Bluetooth with several profiles including A2DP wireless stereo streaming. On top of that there’s a microSD card slot that will support up to an 8GB card which you can store all your music, photos, and videos on.

It has Mobile IM, email and chat clients, V Cast music, video, and music manager, and is VZ navigator capable. It runs on EVDO and the camera takes both stills and video. The lower touch screen changes what functions it offers based on what you’re doing, making it almost unnecessary to slide the number pad out except for typing or dialing.

Overall this seems to be a pretty amazing phone. Keep watching for our full review of the device later this weekend.
