Sleek by 50 Headphones Finished, G-Unit and Sleek Part Ways, World Weeps

Did you know that rapper 50 Cent had his own line of headphones? We did, we got a look at the units way back at the beginning of this year at CES 2011 - $400 headphones with some lovely features, the unit called a "Wireless Hybrid," able to work with or without a cord - the cord in place incase you run out of rechargeable power. All that's over now! It seems that 50 Cent and his G-Unit have decided that they don't agree with the path that Sleek by 50 was going down, thusly Sleek and the rap label have parted ways. Let's have a moment of silence for what was certainly going to be the most important collaboration of our time.

It looks like 50 Cent is the next music star to slap their brand on high-end headphones, with Sleek Audio giving us a sneak preview of the headphones they plan to announce later this week at CES 2011. We don't have any hardware details on the Sleek by 50 Cent headphones that we can share, but there certainly appears to be plenty of carbon fiber involved in their construction.

Sleek Audio have been promising a new set of high-end in-ear monitors for some time now, and courtesy of Pop-Sci magazine we now have a better idea of what's in store.  The Sleek Audio SA7 IEMs slot in above the SA6's, keeping the user-adjustable VQ system for tweaking treble and bass, but now machined from a single block of aluminum with a carbon fiber shell held on by titanium screws.

SlashGear Week in Review – Week 24 2009

After Palm’s big moment last weekend, Apple once again seized the headlines with their WWDC 2009 keynote on Monday morning.  We showed up to liveblog the whole announcement, expecting a new smartphone, and the company delivered in the shape of the iPhone 3G S – twice the speed, twice the storage, and the same styling as the iPhone 3G – together with a launch date for iPhone OS 3.0.  However, Apple weren’t content with just that: they also brought along a new MacBook Pro range complete with integrated batteries; check out our video unboxing and first-impressions.
