I just got word yesterday that in this week’s DLC for Rock Band we’ll be seeing Zero from the Smashing Pumpkins. I’ve been waiting around to hear this news for a very long time. Sure, I’m a huge Pumpkins fan, but that’s not why. I’ve known about this particular song being being included in the game since I visited Harmonix last November. As a special weekend treat, I give you the first ever gameplay video of Zero for Rock Band after the jump.

James Allan BradyWe’ve a shake-up in the SlashGear family this week, as James Allan Brady departs the team. James – seen here in his traditional blogging outfit – has been our Senior Editor for some time now, joined Aradius a year ago and has been a regular and valued contributor to SlashGear and our other network sites. His presence, sense of humor and hard work at CES 2008 means he’ll be a tough act to follow come January next year.

We’d all like to take this opportunity to wish James the best of luck for whichever project he takes on next, and we’ll all be crossing our fingers (or as much as we can while typing) that he doesn’t continue to fall off his Quadzilla ATV.

First of all, I was told I should preface this article with the fact that SlashGear does not condone piracy or any other illegal acts. Now that’s out of the way, let’s get to the real meat of this story. The Pirate Bay is being sued by the IFPI, which is basically the international version of the RIAA, for 1.6 million Euros.

This was a long week with no major events occurring, but there were some pretty big announcements. For starters we have a new BitTorrent Set Top Box from Myka, no more will you have to waste power by leaving your entire computer running all night just to get the latest screener from FXG or aXXo, and this little set top box will do it for you and then play it right from its hard drive for added ease. Then there were rumors abound of Blockbuster potentially putting out a new Set Top Box to push their movies, TV Shows, and other content out to.

Some guy came up with one of the most ingenious uses of elastic since putting it in clothing. He used bands of elastic to suspend the hard drives in his computer thus reducing the noise made by his hard drives.

You know that robotic guitar that Gibson rolled out last year that could auto tune itself to a number of different scales and were programmable to any custom tuning you required? It was like the most badass guitar ever, well they are making a new version that will be more widely available, since getting your hands on one of the originals was nigh impossible.

Is it just me or does it seems like Toshiba is working hard to make it through the whole alphabet sometime soon? Regardless, Toshiba has 4 new lines of notebooks to add to the two new ones I told you about yesterday.

This nifty little gadget was created in an effort to make it possible to see who was online from across the room, or just in passing. So he took some pictures of the few people who he truly cared when they were online, put some LED lights behind them, and then did a lot of more technical stuff to make the lights light up when that person was online.

Some enterprising fellows over at eLinux.org have found a way to get Google’s Android OS onto a Nokia N810 with its OMAP2 chips, which means this particular hack should also work with some Sharp Zaurus models. Anyways, the Android OS looks simply heavenly on the N810 and just goes to further prove that the OS isn’t limited by a cellular connection, it can work on a broad range of mobile devices.
