As you may have spotted, we’ve had a serious change of style here at SlashGear this weekend.  Our new design gives us more room for bigger homepage images, better highlights feature content and editorials, and makes it easier to navigate between our network sites using the topbar.  It should also load faster, which means you can get to the latest news in consumer electronics even quicker, and has better integration with the SlashGear Forum, included threaded comments.

gartenbergWe’ve a new voice here at SlashGear, and one we think will bring a fresh and different perspective to our discussion on technology and consumer electronics.  Michael Gartenberg is a well known journalist and analyst, currently VP of strategy and analysis at Interpret LLC, and now adding a weekly column for SlashGear to his credits.

Michael has previously worked with Jupiter Research, Gartner Inc. and Microsoft, but here he’ll be offering a topical and outspoken opinion on the biggest news in tech.  In the first of his weekly columns, he discusses Google’s new Chrome OS and how after just a day in the public eye it’s already being labeled a “Windows killer”.

slashgear mobile world congress 2009 smlThe SlashGear team are in Barcelona and we’re ready to bring you all the top stories from Mobile World Congress 2009.  Although the last two weeks have been filled with leaks – Samsung, we’re looking at you – and early announcements, we’re still expecting a few interesting surprises.  Of course, we’ll also be bringing you hands-on reports, exclusive video and photo galleries of all the biggest launches.

We know that Samsung will be bringing their new flagship feature-phone, the Samsung UltraTOUCH S8300 (aka Samsung Tocco Ultra), as well as a number of other devices, many of which use AMOLED display technology rather than the more traditional (and generally more power-hungry) LCD TFT screens.  LG, meanwhile, have their Arena KM900 – which is being heavily advertised across Barcelona – complete with its nifty new 3D GUI.

It’s Tuesday morning, it’s almost 9am PST, and that can only mean one thing: the SlashGear Macworld 2009 Apple Keynote Liveblog is about to begin.  We’re already at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, waiting to go in; there’s no Steve Jobs this time, but that hasn’t reduced attendance with a big queue of journalists.  You can follow all the news at the SlashGear Liveblog: http://live.slashgear.com/
