This week we’re getting extra pumped up for Mobile World Congress as the big events start at the end of it – it’s a 7 day count-down for some, but a 5 day count-down for your humble narrator! Before we get in to all that though, time marches on – with Destiny we’ve got a game that’s set to take place in a post-apocalyptic future with the Xbox 720, PlayStation 4, and PC set to take on the brunt of this next-generation beast. You’ll also want to see the very first-ever car backflip as made real by the Mini Countryman. Also remember that Russian meteorite? You can buy bits of it if you’re feeling like money is burning a hole in your pocket – and you’d rather that fire come from space.

The PlayStation 4 has been tipped to bring on a new Sony price slash strategy for the PlayStation 3. Might be time to get on-board with the previous generation! There’s an Obama Brain Activity Map project going on right now that you’ll be surprised isn’t actually mapping the brain of the President himself. The ISS astronaut Chris Hadfield has spoken this week about a variety of topics – fears, dangers, and advice included.

Network logs have tipped off a brand new Nokia Lumia 520 for the masses – without a doubt headed for Mobile World Congress 2013. A new interactive map of the world is showing Apple’s supply chains in detail. That same Russian meteor has been shown to blast some rather strange damage across the landscape. A new Systemic computer has been revealed with the ability to rebuild corrupted data while never, ever crashing.

A rather odd Accel Telecom smartphone has been revealed with in-car connectivity galore – Voyager Connected Car Smartphone it’s called, and you will… maybe want it? The LG Optimus G Pro will be coming to the USA in the second quarter of 2013 with a bit more of a traditional approach – giant displays and high power! Those of you on BlackBerry 7 or 7.1 will be sad to find that YouTube no longer works – the universe has left you behind!

There’s a group by the name of AutoCyb out there that’s capitalizing on the black box data privacy you didn’t know you could have. Have a peek at the Scosche lineup of Lightning connectors just released this week – so much power your head will burst!

There’s been a bit of a lackluster start for the Wii U with sales well under projections. Meanwhile the Xbox 360 has been the best selling console on the market for its 25th straight month. A brand new artificial retinia has been approved by the FDA for use by the blind.

With the fiasco that was the Boeing 787 Dreamliner’s melting lithium-ion batteries, it would appear that new Airbus models will be skipping inclusion entirely. Microsoft has begun detailing Messenger to Skype transitioning as the final cuts are made. Don’t miss out on the Bigfoot Genome paper published this week – grab on tight! We’ve reviewed a brand new external battery device you’ll see above called the PowerSkin PoP’n – a must see!

The folks at Opera have acquired no less than Skyfire Labs for a fabulous $155 million USD. NVIDIA and Elemental have made a team-up their own with enhanced video processing solutions galore! You’ll want to dive in deep with what very much appears to be a Verizon Samsung Galaxy S IV benchmark before the device is confirmed.

This morning we’re looking toward the future with a rather enticing self-driving car timeline of five years – soon and very soon! There’s currently a Sustained Attack happening on the USA – did you know? It’s a hacking attack, mind you. Over at the FCC a Samsung Wireless Charging Pad has made clearance with a possible Galaxy S IV in its sights.

This week’s State of the Union Address in the USA will have a lovely fireside chat happening directly afterward – join in! Two new Samsung smart cameras have hit the shelves – these are the same units we saw at CES 2013, and they’re hot! It would appear that we’re low on Surface Pro tablets out there in the wild market. Check out the concept for the Apple Willow Glass “iWatch” to blow your mind.

The new HTC One has leaked with both a rendering of its front and a sample photo. It would appear that the non-planet Pluto has a series of moons that need naming. In the hunt for Christopher Dorner, several unmanned drones have been deployed – gotta catch em!

Don’t miss our HP EliteBook 2570p Review by Craig Lloyd – it’s solid!

The first primetime Google Nexus 4 advertisement has been released – after all this time! The Samsung Galaxy Tab Keyboard Dock has been killed here in 2013 – that’s it, that’s all, that’s all there is! Carriers here and there across the planet have been having iOS 6.1 issues both inside and outside of enterprise use. Watch out for the NASA MAVEN spacecraft soon as Lockheed Martin has completed assembly.

You’ll be able to see the first final look at the Gamestick this morning right before it hits production after Kickstarter. The fun folks at DARPA have revealed a 1.8 gigapixel drone camera that’ll be able to target the enemy at 20,000 feet. BlackBerry 10 has been announced as coming with ooVoo for 12 person video chat – weird!

The iPad 4 with 128GB storage has been announced officially complete with Retina display and Lightning connector – and what on earth will you be using that massive amount of storage for? More apps and photos and videos than you can possibly imagine. Crysis 3 Open Beta is now out for Xbox 360 – jump in on the mega-shooting excellence! If you’ve been using the London Tube for free wifi, you’ll be in for a surprise immediately if now soon: costs!

Apple’s Siri has been updated with iOS 6.1 to include movie ticket purchases with Fandango – like magic! Acer has made it clear that they’ve for a bit more faith in Chromebooks than they do in Windows 8 at the moment – watch out for more on the inexpensive end! Then there’s the tiny side of things – Orbis Transform for both Apple Lightning and microUSB in one cord – sweetness!

Here at the start of 2013 we’ve got a whole lot of color changes going on, today’s being the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 and its switch-over to Garnet Red – sound like a Valentine’s Day winner to you? You’ll be able to have a peek at the <a href="http://www.slashgear.com/bioshock-infinite-trailer-sets-the-stage-for-columbia-28266953/" target="_blank":>newest trailer for BioShock Infinite as well as see the death of a patent troll by the hands of NewEgg. The teams at Ford, Daimler, and Renault-Nissan are letting the world know that fuel-cell cars will be a reality by 2017. And there’s a monkey in Iran that’s been to space and back.

BlackBerry 10 is just around the corner and we’re seeing more than one bit of evidence that it’s going to come in with a bang – take this movie and music reveal for example – let the media begin! Don’t forget the slightly lower price than originally suspected as well – all out! Barnes & Noble have let it be known that they’ll be closing physical shops galore before the decade is up.

You’ll be glad to see the front and rear of the HTC M7 in a new video – looks rather like we’ll be seeing another Butterfly, yes? The folks at Plastic Logic have teased an always-accurate digital timetable for the very near future – travelers be saved!
It appears that RIM will not be purchased by Lenovo if their press team has anything to say about it. There’s a real life tractor beam out there in the real world – full of light! There’s no denying that iOS and Android are dominating the digital landscape with a full-on “duopoly” according to Strategy Analytics for the final quarter of 2012. There’s been word that a Patent Firestorm was threatened by Steve Jobs (allegedly, mind you) directed at Palm if they did not sign a no-hire talent poaching agreement back in 2007 – re-read that one! Finally make sure you’re all about the “proper” PureView technology planned for a Nokia EOS Windows Phone – soon!

I mean love!

MySpace’s relaunch is in a bit of trouble – maybe – as they’ve been accused of using music that may not be theirs – dear, oh dear.

This morning it’s leak city as the rumor mill starts spinning like a propeller before Mobile World Congress 2013, coming up sooner than you think! The iPhone Math has to be one of the most absurd of the collection, bringing with it a 4.8-inch display alongside the plastic iPhones tipped earlier this month. Sergey Brin has been riding the subway in NYC sporting Google Glass as we inch closer to the developer events in that city and down westward at the start of next month. BlackBerry will be bringing the heat with BlackBerry 10 at the end of this month as well, RIM changing the name now of App World to BlackBerry World in celebration it does seem.

The folks behind Memoto have delayed the life-logging camera but are adding in a digital compass for fun. Eric Schmidt and his daughter Sophie have been there and back again to nowhere less than North Korea. Real-life Mario Kart is being made real in a demonstration of RFID-tagged boosters throughout a real-deal course with go-carts – amazingly amazing! RIM’s own CEO has tipped the idea that they could sell their hardware devision after the launch of BlackBerry 10 – quite the pre-event note!

If you’ve not seen the HTC M7 in a set of supposedly real photographs, now’s your chance. If you’re living in the USA and love the PlayStation Store, you may be super gloriously happy to find that you can use PayPal there now as well as your cold hard cash. Intel is working non-stop at the moment to bring on technology that’ll hopefully help Stephen Hawking to continue to communicate as his body continues to deteriorate.

Be sure to check our new Acer Predator AG3620 Review complete with Windows 8 and a beastly set of hardware innards!

The lovely beast known as the Alfa Romeo 4C will be coming to the USA next year – that’s 12 months or more from now, so get out your crying eyes. The folks at EA and GlassLab have announced a student-friendly title by the name of SimCityEDU. Those of you familiar with the way we currently understand human DNA to be structured will find a quadruple helix DNA in a human cell to be quite the announcement via scientists at Cambridge University.

Domo the Journey is chomping it’s way to the USA with big ol’ teeth.

Restaurant inspection scores have been added to Yelp in an effort to clean up New York and San Francisco. The Amazon MP3 store has been added to the iPhone and iPod touch. You can also purchase a $500 HAL 9000 replica now if you’d like, proving it’s not the economy that’s dying, it’s just certain sectors (nerd loving nostalgia not included).

Google Glass (or Project Glass if you prefer) has launched several new news bits, one of them sort of shunning international developers as USA developers are called in to work. The big Google Glass developer events are in San Francisco and New York, mind you. Researchers are projecting wearables like Google Glass to surge by 2017, due in no small part to the release of Google Glass here in 2013.

You’ll be able to pick up the game the Cave starting on January 22nd. There’s been a rather sizable accusation today by AMD that former employees had raided document shelves prior to moving to NVIDIA – this is a big deal even (and perhaps especially) if it isn’t true. If you’re hoping for Pokemon on your iPhone, it might be coming soon.

You’ll want to see the tablet known as Kite HD, running both Ubuntu Linux and Android with a quad-core processor under the hood. There’s a deal going on right now with Windows 8′s app collection where the developer favorite gets their own television advertisement. And don’t go any further today before you realize that Jerry McDougal has resigned.

This morning we’re having a peek at a few products that you’re going to flip over, starting with the fabulous Transporter from the folks that brought you the Drobo – offline safety! There’s been a rapid prototyping project initiated that’s created the Project Glass from Google in just two hours. The photo editing app known as Snapseed has been re-released with an update that makes it free, for not just iOS this time but Android as well!

There are now 235 million Google+ users in the Google+ universe, believe it or not! The Google+ universe also has a new element by the name of Google+ Communities The BMW Concept 4 Series Coupe has been previewed as a mid-range “lust magnet” as Chris Davies calls it – lust magnet indeed!

Apple has made a few announcements today via its CEO Tim Cook starting with the fact that they’ll be making products in the USA starting in 2013. Meanwhile Cook has again said that Apple TV is “an area of intense interest”. Meanwhile Apple and Samsung are back in court over the $1 billion dollar fine laid upon the latter earlier this year.

Analysts have now claimed that Microsoft’s big bet with the Surface tablet (the RT version, as that’s the only one out thus far) will yield just around 500,000 Surface RT units sold, and it’s not good news. Warhammer games is about to get some help from SEGA and Creative Assembly. For those of you looking to work with the iPad mini with EE in the UK, you’ll be able to do so for just £50 – with a 2-year contract, of course.

Then move on to such a beauty as the BMW i3 Concept Coupe with a complete ditching of steel for intelligent EV. Also spotted is the new Fiat 500L and 500L Trekking for North American release.

Apple has successfully gotten Samsung Galaxy devices banned in the Netherlands. You’ll be glad to know that Vimeo for iPhone has been updated for easier video creation. Skype for iOS has also been updated with Microsoft account login and animated emoticons (finally! right?)

The entire Curiosity Mars Mission has been classified “history books” worthy by NASA.
Vehicle news continues then with the new TMG Sports 650 on the Lexus luxobarge you’re going to need to see to believe.
The TomTom navigation app has updates for both iOS 6 and the iPhone 5 but gone is Google Local Search – wonder why? The folks at Mugen have brought forth a massive 6400 mAh battery for the Samsung Galaxy Note II. The operating system known as webOS has returned as a very slow-moving Android homescreen replacement app – more production soon!
Those of you that braved the web for Cyber Monday yesterday will be glad to know that you’ve reached $2 billion in sales across the Earth. The Nintendo TVii will be launching on December 8th for those lucky users out there with the Wii U in Japan, Europe, and the USA. The top sales spot for smartphones in the past 12 weeks leading up to October 28th belongs to the iPhone 5 according to Kantar.

Apple has revealed that the iMac (the newest ones) will be popping up on November 30th, while the larger of the two will be appearing in December.

This morning we’ve got one whole heck of a lot of digital sales going on around the web – that’s what happens the Monday after Black Friday – but we’re concentrating on the news that never, never stops. Have a start with an eye implant for those hoping to “see” braille in a halfway sense. Next you’ll find the revolution coming on quick with Google picking up the ol’ ICOA WiFi hotspot specialist to take command of the data universe – imagine a nation without mobile data carriers.

The device known as Raspberry Pi is about to get Minecraft for great justice. Meanwhile BlackBerry is ready to bring on Carrier Billing with BlackBerry App World for over 50 carriers. Microsoft is promising to remain faithful to the Surface with Windows RT for at least four years – kind of them!

If you are indeed looking for Cyber Monday deals, you might want to start with the $129 Kindle Fire. If you’re ready for a super-inexpensive notebook, you might want to think about a Chromebook – but perhaps wait for a touchscreen edition. In other news – that’s never going to happen. Sony is coming out strong with a massively impressive 20.5-inch OLED display for medical use.

Facebook is once again pushing employees to create a better app for Android.

This morning we’re following the release of the Nintendo Wii U like a hawk – and what it appears to be doing is selling out, and selling out fast. Over in Apple Land you’ll find the iTunes app store reaching 1 million apps in the approval bin. Meanwhile Windows 8 is missing sales projections and the Nokia Lumia 920 is selling like hotcakes.

It would appear that the minors out there hoping to work with the Nintendo Wii U on the Nintendo Network will have to pay $0.50 each – registration working with their parent’s credit cards, in this case. The Wii U teardown that everyone knew was coming has shown none other than Miracast – everyone’s favorite wireless standard technology for the future! The Drobo 5N is coming soon with ethernet connectivity to keep you up and running online all the time! The CEO of Intel is planning on retiring in 2013 – in May, to be precise.

Be sure to check our the column Sales Mean Nothing: Call of Duty Has Gone Stale by Don Reisinger.
There’s been a beastly solar prominence captured on video – watch out for the sun! Apple is apparently mulling Apple Maps and Siri for OS X 10.9. Meanwhile the iMac’s newest models are being sent out from distributors rather soon – before 2013, against previous rumors.

In a bit of a “woopsie” moment, it appears that Android 4.2 Jelly Bean+ has deleted the month of December from the People app. There have been more than a few Windows Phone 8 users reporting battery problems and random reboots – see if you match up! A leaked roadmap has shown Intel Atom running up with a next-generation tablet processor for its family portrait.

After the January reveal of the BlackBerry 10 platform, it’s been assured by the COO that there will be sales “not too long after”. There’s a Xiaomi Box out there this week getting pumped up about taking on Apple TV and Google TV.

This morning we’re living in the wake of the impact that both Microsoft and Samsung made with their events earlier in the week – and what a week it was! Microsoft brought on the fury with a massive Times Square showing of their Windows 8 launch family while Samsung brought Kanye West to their Galaxy Note II event. It would appear that the rules are being changed in the hacking world as well as the DMCA has made an exemption for smartphones in the jailbreaking world in a new ruling, but not tablets.

It’s time for Android to get serious about tablets, mind you, with 41% of the market hitting in the third quarter of this year – and they’ve set a cool world record, too. Samsung’s third quarter financial results have shown $7.4 billion in profits, well exceeding expectations. The Windows Store has been launched for Windows 8 and will indeed be selling ESRB “Mature” games like Call of Ducy: MW3 and Skyrim.

The Apple Store has begun selling iPad minis with sales and supplies being different depending on where you live. Apple also added 8 new currencies to their App Store and have adjusted prices globally.

The company has had to post its “Samsung didn’t copy” notice on its webpage in the UK, and it’s majorly passive-aggressive. Take a trip down supply numbers lane too to see if Apple got its supply right or if not one whole heck of a lot of people are buying an iPad mini. If you’re looking for a white iPad mini, you might be out of luck.

The most massive television you’ll ever have set your eyes upon is now available in the USA – that’s the LG 84-inch 4K for $20K. Samsung took home another win with reports that they beat Nokia again for the third quarter in a row after Nokia had held the record for 14 years previous. Researchers at Berkeley Lab have restored a 134-year-old recording that’s a lovely 78 seconds long and of the very first musical performance ever recorded. Listen to it now!

This morning we’re gearing up for one gigantic week of releases, starting with a massive (yet mini) Apple event and ringing through the center with Windows 8′s official release. Start your morning off right with Bill Gates discussing Windows 8 with the Surface tablets starting the party the right way. Have a peek at Apple’s education strategy with the iPad mini as well – nothing has been confirmed as of yet, but it’s looking more and more likely!

It’s suddenly 1993 again as a group releases the making-of the Velociraptor for the students of the Stan Winston School of Character Arts. It’s also time to end a rather old relationship if tips are to be believed, that being the Apple/Samsung LCD business, tipped to be cut due to bad blood and a new pricing strategy gone wrong. The retro updates continue with a brand new cassette tape prototype that’s able to store a whopping 35 terabytes of data.

We’ve got three reviews of products you’ll be freaking out over, the first of them being no less than a full Windows 8 review in all its glory. We’ve also got a Samsung Series 3 Chromebook review and a Libratone Zipp review as well – AirPlay on the go!

There’s been a discovery of a completely unknown Roman catacomb this week with no more than a stray cat archeologist bringing it out to light. Windows 8 will be blasting forth with a new Skype app for the masses. A home-striking meteorite has appeared this past week – consider yourself lucky that it didn’t smack your car instead.

There’s a brand new Google Glass in town, this time bringing engineer-grade wearable technology to the forefront with the name Motorola Solutions HC1. Samsung’s flexible AMOLED technology has been delayed until 2013. Those of you in to the world of NAS will be glad to see the wild universe of Synology’s quad-tuner DVDs with remote placeshifting.

If you really want to look forward to the future, you’ll freak out at the leak surrounding the Google event on the 29th of October – Jelly Bean 4.2 plus LG Nexus 4, Nexus 7 3G, and the new Nexus 10 tablet as well. There’s been a leak of the HTC DLX that you’ll want to have a peek at.

This morning we’re jumping in on space with the NASA Curiosity rover swallowing its first cup of dirt from Mars. Verizon has been confirmed to be working with carrier billing for the Google Play store sooner than later, and we’ve got some Motorola DROID RAZR MAXX HD in some comparison hands-on action with the DROID RAZR HD for you – with battery results coming up quick! Google reports that they’ve sold up to 1 million Nexus 7 tablets, this news amid the rest of the undeniably terrible mistake made yesterday when one of their PR companies released their financial results yesterday early.

If you head down to your local Microsoft Store you could potentially get a Surface launch day reservation in your name. The Samsung Galaxy S III is coming to MetroPCS rather quickly. Sony will not be issuing any Jelly Bean updates inside the year 2012, and everything named Xperia before 2012 will not be getting an update at any time, no matter what. There’s a lovely time lapse video out there today showing the space shuttle Endeavour’s final mission.

The folks at Fujitsu are bringing the heat to Windows 8 with the Esprimo X913-T multitouch all-in-one as well as a collection of Windows 8 tablets. If you’re waiting for the Nissan Juke-R, you’ll be crying when you see the first one on the road soon. The new name for 4K TV sets is Ultra High Definition, or Ultra HD, according to the Consumer Electronics Association.

The game Marvel: War of Heroes has been launched for iOS and Android, both at once. The BBC iPlayer has received the coveted Jelly Bean upgrade this week. The game Skylanders Giants is set to be popping up by the 21st of October, right in time for the holiday season. The iCade 8-bitty from ThinkGeek is also out on the market – right this minute! Finally – but not least of all – you’ll be glad to know that an “expert” has said that the Microsoft Surface is not sharper than the iPad – check the details!
