Microsoft's SkyDrive cloud storage service is picking up a lot of speed, and it's becoming one the company's more popular products. Microsoft has announced that SkyDrive usage has doubled in the last six months, meaning that the storage needed to store users' files doubled in just six months. To celebrate, Microsoft released updates to the Windows Phone 8 and Android SkyDrive apps, as well as added some new features across all platforms.

New Office Web Apps now available on SkyDrive
Microsoft has announced the release of the newest Office Web Apps, which are now available via SkyDrive. Until now, the Office 2013-ish apps have been in preview mode since July, with 750,000 testers giving it the run through. According to the announcement, the Office Web Apps were "fine-tuned" for Windows 8, IE10, and iOS 6.

Microsoft is talking about updates to SkyDrive. SkyDrive is a personal cloud file storage system that Microsoft says can scale up to 1 billion users. The website for the service has been updated with the new design suitable for desktop and tablet browsers. Outlook.com: Hotmail users find themselves rebranded
This morning Hotmail users are finding themselves in a whole new world of email organization - so new, in fact, that their Hotmail login no longer leads them to Hotmail, it goes to Outlook.com instead. This move by Microsoft has users baffled, in some cases, and furious in others. One thing that's true amongst all of them is the fact that Hotmail is gone - and Microsoft's new Metro user interface and total re-formatting of the beloved legacy email service Hotmail is here to stay.

New Microsoft Office 365 announced with a bang
This week Microsoft has unleashed what was expected to be Office 15 in a while new set of functionality and applicability to different work environments: Office 365. This software is set to be released in four editions, that being Office 365 Home Premium, Small Business Premium, ProPlus, and Enterprise. No pricing and final release dates have been dropped just yet, but a preview downloads have been made available immediately.
Microsoft intros SkyDrive app for Windows and Mac OS X
The news coming out of Microsoft isn’t quite done for today. The company has announced that they’re expanding SkyDrive features, most notably where you’re able to access your files from. SkyDrive will now be available as a standalone application for Windows, much in the same way as Dropbox, allowing you to access your files stored in the cloud right from the desktop.
