Apple brings Dictation to Mountain Lion

Apple has added a ton of new features to Mountain Lion today here at WWDC, and one of them is Dictation. Users will be able to speak in almost every app across Mountain Lion and have their words transcribed to text automatically. Apple say that Dictation will work for Facebook, Mail, and Microsoft Word. It’s not quite the full-blown Siri support that some were expecting, but it’s the next best thing. Read The Full Story

Apple television in pilot production tip Chinese sources

After Foxconn's "yes we are; no we're not" turnaround on the Apple television earlier this month, fresh rumors from China now claim once again that pilot production has begun at the long-time Cupertino partner. Siri’s Voice Dictation spotted in OS X Mountain Lion code

The same Siri-based voice dictation features as on the new iPad look increasingly likely to show up in OS X Mountain Lion, Apple's next-gen Mac platform, according to new beta code tidbits. According to a new mention in the latest seed of Mountain Lion, spotted by 9 to 5 Mac, Apple could be using a new keypress combo to trigger what's presumably the same server-based dictation system as offered on the iPad. IBM blocks Dropbox and iCloud as well as Siri

Earlier today it was reported that Siri was being blocked for IBM employees nationwide as a sort of cut-back on their "bring your own device" policy for smartphones and tablets at the workplace - that policy has expanded, it seems. A new addition to the reports we've heard this morning indicate that IBM not only has Apple's Siri blocked, but several other applications such as Dropbox and Apples iCloud. When you use Siri, voice data is sent back to Apple’s servers in order to be processed, but the information is also stored there for a period of time to help hone the voice assistant. Samsung and Vlingo blocking unofficial S-Voice use

Samsung Galaxy S IIIs are already out there in the wild even though the phone doesn’t official hit retail channels until May 29th. The exclusive Flipboard APK was ripped from the phone pretty quickly, and over the weekend Samsung’s personal voice assistant, S-Voice, was also uploaded for anyone with an Android phone running Ice Cream Sandwich to enjoy.
