Apple looking to boost in-car integration prowess with new job listing
Chevrolet MyLink gains Siri integration today in 2013 Sonic and Spark
Starting today, those of you with a Chevrolet Sonic or a Chevrolet Spark working with Chevrolet MyLink with your iPhone will be able to work with Siri eyes-free integration. This update takes on what was promised back in November of last year and what we got to see with our own eyes that same month in an early preview, making it real for real-world vehicle owners. With Siri integration, users will be able to connect their iPhone (any model that works with Siri natively) completely wirelessly and jump on in to Eyes Free mode.

A Siri iWatch could dominate wearables
Oh, the irony: tech manufacturers by the dozen attempting to dissuade you from pulling an iPhone from your pocket, and it might be Apple that actually manages it. That’s not to say the Cupertino giant – or the rumored “iWatch” – is aiming to replace the iPhone, only leave it snug in your jacket or purse more of the time by shunting glanceable functionality to your wrist. It’s a strategy we’ve seen several other manufacturers (most notably Pebble, currently glowing rosily from its multi-million Kickstarter success) try, but there are some very good reasons why Apple could be the firm to take the smartwatch mass-market.

The push is on for many automakers to add new hands-free technology to their vehicles to help drivers keep their eyes on the road. Some automakers, such as Ford, have had hands-free communication systems and their vehicles allowing drivers to control certain functions using the voice for a long time. Other automakers have been slower to adopt such technology.

Welcome to Thursday evening folks. Today we heard that Samsung may use MWC 2013 to unveil a new Galaxy Note 8.0 tablet, which is certainly exciting to say the least. According to new rumors, Verizon may be shipping the Samsung ATIV Odyssey on January 24, while a new Apple job listing suggests some major Siri improvements coming in the future. Instagram said today that it has 90 million monthly active users who are uploading 40 million photos per day, and even though Intel's earnings for Q4 2012 were down, the company still managed to pull in $13.3 billion in revenue.

Chevrolet’s 2013 Sonic is a spritely little city car, and as of the new year it will have a perky digital personal assistant in the shape of Apple’s Siri. Targeted at cash-strapped but mobile-obsessed college leavers and first-car owners, the 2013 Sonic is the first in Chevrolet’s line-up to feature the MyLink Siri integration, though it won’t be the last. We caught up with Chevy ahead of the new Sonic’s infotationment system making its debut at the LA Auto Show to see how iPhone and automobile play together.
Chevrolet adds Siri to 2013 Spark; Previews next-gen MyLink
Siri is hitching a ride in the 2013 Chevrolet Spark and Sonic LZ and RS, with support for the voice control system in the MyLink infotainment systems; meanwhile, an all-new version will debut in the 2014 Impala. The Siri functionality, announced at the Los Angeles Auto Show 2013, allows a Bluetooth-connected iPhone to play songs, switch sources from AM/FM/XM radio to iPod mode, trigger calls to contacts, handle messaging, and the calendar, all by verbal instruction. It’s not the sole preserve of big-bucks Chevys, either, with the car company opting to debut the tech in its more affordable models.
Apple mulling Siri and Apple Maps integration in OS X 10.9
Apple is testing versions of OS X 10.9 that include Siri voice control and Apple Maps integration, sources claim, though it's unclear if both features will make it to the public release expected in 2013. Development of the new Mac OS was reportedly begun simultaneously with OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion, the current release, so 9to5Mac's sources claim, including a "MapKit" framework for coders to embed into their desktop applications much as they can do with iOS apps.

NowNow replaces Siri with Google Voice Search
If you find that Siri on your iPhone isn't as helpful as you imagined, all hope is not lost. If you're jailbroken, it turns out you can install a quick tweak called NowNow that will replace Siri with Google's Voice Search. So, whenever you hold down the home button, Google Voice Search will pop up instead of Siri.

Former Pixar and Siri developers join up for ToyTalk to make Teddy speak
It's time for a new kind of app for the smart universe, on that focuses on the child in you - or your child, of course - and brings your toys to life with augmented reality: it's ToyTalk! The three folks behind this project were all formerly at Pixar in different positions - Martin Reddy was a lead Software Engineer, Oren Jacob was CTO, and Bobby Podesta was a supervising animator, and with their combined expertise, we're about to see speaking toy enter the smart space. The whole project is set to launch at the start of 2013, but just today they've released their first cinematic trailer.
