Star Wars VIII release date and director revealed

Today the Star Wars PR spirits have been kind - they've revealed the title of the next Star Wars stand-alone film AND details on Star Wars VIII. This next Star Wars film will be continuing the events that end at the finale of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Star Wars VIII does not yet have a title, but it does have a writer and a director - both will be Rian Johnson. This fellow also directed some of the most awesome action and sci-fi movies of the past several years, including Brick, The Brothers Bloom, and Looper.

“TRON 3″ production tipped to start October

Flynn Lives! Again! Or so we hope. Fans of the iconic sci-fi franchise who were left on the edge their seats for a sequal to 2010's hit TRON: Legacy will just have to wait for another year or so. But then again, they might be faced with an even bigger cliffhanger then. Industry buzz is claiming that the next TRON film will commence production this Fall and even have an exact October 5 date. Leonard Nimoy, 83, passes away at home

Leonard Nimoy is gone. The actor died this morning at his Bel Air home in Los Angeles. His passing has been confirmed by his wife, Susan Bay Nimoy, who says the cause of his death was late-stage chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Leonard Nimoy said last year his disease was caused by years of smoking, though he had given up the habit some 30 years ago. According to The New York Times, Nimoy was hospitalized earlier in the week.

The team of researchers come from Google's DeepMind, where they're using Space Invaders - the video game - to show how the search for truly human artificial intelligence isn't too far off. The machine learns to play the video game, learns to win at the video game, and dominates all humans at the game they've created to help us defend our planet against the alien hordes.
