Star Wars The Force Awakens posters: we made the rest

Star Wars The Force Awakens posters: we made the rest

This morning Lucasfilm released a set of five posters depicting some of the main characters of the film Star Wars: The Force Awakens. This film will be released in December - not too long from now - and quite a bit of the plot and the details therein remain a secret. As such, we're not entirely surprised there's no Luke Skywalker poster. But we wanted one anyway, so we made one. We made a poster for Chewbacca as well, at Peter Mayhew's request.

Star Wars character posters revealed: Finn, Rey, Kylo, Solo, Leia

Star Wars The Force Awakens actors have begun releasing posters of their characters this morning, starting with the stormtrooper FINN. This character is wearing the Stormtrooper underclothing he has on at the beginning of the film and is wielding a lightsaber made by you-know-who. This character's poster was shared by the actor who plays the roll, John Boyega. We'll be expecting a whole collection of posters before the day is through.

New Star Trek TV show launching on CBS and All Access

New Star Trek TV show launching on CBS and All Access

This morning CBS announced that an all-new (not reruns) Star Trek TV series will be launching in January of 2017. That's a long ways off. But it will have Alex Kurtzman, Co-Writer and Producer of the Blockbuster Films "Star Trek" and "Star Trek Into Darkness" as Executive Producer, so that'll be neat. This TV show is thus far just called "Star Trek", but may have a different name by the time it launches. We're crossing our fingers for a whole new era with callbacks - rather than the oddity that was Enterprise.

Duracell’s Star Wars commercial is better than the prequels

Duracell’s Star Wars commercial is better than the prequels

The video spot you're about to see takes on Star Wars: The Force Awakens on Christmas morning. Therein you'll find the fight for the Republic, as executed by a couple of youngling Jedi wielding some fabulous battery-laden lightsabers. They're using Duracell batteries, of course, as the video was made for Duracell batteries with licensing from Lucasfilm. This story is just one minute long, but it'll thrill, it'll chill, and it'll make you understand the true nature of The Force. With batteries.

Neill Blomkamp’s Alien movie delayed for Ridley Scott’s Prometheus 2

Neill Blomkamp’s Alien movie delayed for Ridley Scott’s Prometheus 2

Earlier this year, fans of the Alien movie series were excited to learn that District 9-director Neill Blomkamp was confirmed to be working on a new entry, setting the stage for a film that could make up for the widely panned Prometheus. Unfortunately, as is known to happen in the world of Hollywood, the unnamed project has been put on hold. It was Blomkamp himself that shared the news on Twitter, adding that the reason is because director Ridley Scott is moving ahead on production of the Prometheus sequel, also known as Alien: Paradise Lost.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 casting calls for beautiful women and odd men

A bit of outrage has been prematurely sparked this week as the first casting call for extras on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is sent out. While this first casting release calls for "beautiful/model aliens - MEN and WOMEN" and "Character Aliens - MEN (only)", it also calls for "BALD WOMEN" separately - and is, of course, only the first of MANY such casting calls that'll be revealed over the next few weeks and months. Director James Gunn took to Twitter to stem the influx of negative outcry over the situation this morning.

Star Wars The Force Awakens will stream on Netflix

Star Wars The Force Awakens will stream on Netflix

The Chief Content Officer of Netflix, Ted Sarandos, spoke this month with shareholders to tell them the news about Star Wars: The Force Awakens. It would seem that while the movie would potentially be on the service in Canada as early as the end of this year, the film won't be available to Netflix for streaming until Netflix gets streaming rights from Starz inside the year 2016. There's a bit of missing information here when you read this story on other publications publishing before SlashGear.
