Papercraft Prometheus trailer is all kinds of awesome

Prometheus director Ridley Scott was particularly proud of the number of physical effects used in the new film rather than CGI, and we've a feeling he'd appreciate the effort that went into this fan-made papercraft trailer too. The handiwork of artist Travis Betz, the trailer - which you can see after the cut - is a scene-for-scene recreation of the official Prometheus promo, only replicated using cut-outs and some low-tech special effects. Prometheus hits US theaters today

It’s June 8, and that means one thing: Prometheus opens in theaters across the US, finally giving the not-quite-an-Alien-prequel its time to shine. Director Ridley Scott returns to the Alien universe he created in horrifying fashion over thirty years ago, with a film that started out to tell the story of what led up to the 1979 classic, but subsequently evolved into the start of a sci-fi franchise in its own right.

Robotic fish is accepted by real fish

The latest study involving advancements in robotic technology has an end result that by all accounts is pretty amazing - a robot designed to look like a zebrafish was fully accepted into a school of other zebrafish. Fahrenheit 451 author Ray Bradbury dies at 91

Famed science fiction author Ray Bradbury has died, his family has confirmed, with the much-loved writer of Fahrenheit 451 and Something Wicked This Way Comes passing this week at the age of 91. Best known for his foreboding 1953 novel on a dystopian future, Fahrenheit 451, which spawned a feature film in 1966, Bradbury was in fact responsible for eleven novels, over 400 novelettes and short stories, not to mention screenplays and children's books. World record skydiving attempt still has questions

The medical director for daredevil Felix Baumgartner's attempt at breaking the world record for highest skydive admits that when he encounters the shockwaves that will occur when he breaks the speed of sound, it's unclear what will happen since it is a groundbreaking feat.
