Star Wars 7 trailer released this week: here’s where [UPDATED: More theaters!]

This "holiday week-end" you'll be able to see a trailer for Star Wars The Force Awakens, aka Star Wars 7, in select theaters throughout the United States. A limited number of theaters are said to be participating in this "preview" for the film - though we're not entirely sure why our source uses that word. One worker for a theater chain suggests that an internal email has been sent notifying employees that the preview will be coming. We must assume it'll be coming in a steel truck with armed guards, but no confirmation on that bit yet.

AMC introduces the Unlimited Movie Ticket: Interstellar first

AMC introduces the Unlimited Movie Ticket: Interstellar first

Back when Star Wars was first released, it quickly became common - at least with a classic like that - to go to a film more than once in the theater. The trend was summoned once again with Titanic, then again with the Star Wars prequels. AMC Theaters and Paramount Pictures have caught on to the trend at last, revealing an "Unlimited Ticket." This is not like the subscription passes of the past for certain theaters or certain brands. Instead, this is a first-of-its-kind Interstellar-specific ticket.

Star Wars 7 set to highlight Celebration 2015

Attendance at Star Wars Celebration 2015 is set to break records as pre-order sales are ramping up. While event organizers have not been allowed to share any information about what they'll be presenting direct from Lucasfilm, you can be sure there'll be goodies from Star Wars The Force Awakens, otherwise known as Star Wars Episode 7. This will also be the first Star Wars Celebration to be held in the United States in several years - since Disney acquired Lucasfilm in 2012, in fact. This convention first started the same year as Star Wars Episode I was released, and ramped up to its highest attendance in 2007 when it took place in Southern California.

Onyx: the Star Trek communicator made real

After a year in development, the team at OnBeep have created a device by the name of Onyx. This device closely replicates the abilities of a walkie-talkie, a push-to-talk phone, and of course - a Star Trek communicator. One from The Next Generation, of course, not one of those old-school communicators you had to hang on your belt. That'd just be madness... or a smartphone. The Onyx was made to work in emergency situations at first, but it's prepared to work in any environment in the real world.
