Back to the Future heads to theaters for 30th anniversary

Just as Star Wars did in 1997 for its 20th, Back to the Future will be re-released for its own 30th anniversary this year. This means that on the 21st of October, 2015, throughout the United States the original Back to the Future will be coming to a theater near you. While it's possible the entire trilogy will be delivered in one big go, we're to understand that each film will be released separately, for separate showings with separate tickets. So get your pocketbooks out.

There's a cut of Star Wars: The Force Awakens out there, ladies of gentlemen. It exists. Not that we didn't know this would eventually happen, but it's so close, we can taste it. Abrams confirmed that he had a cut - not even necessarily the first cut of the film - for preview. This isn't the sort of cut that just anyone will be able to see - it's an indicator that we're in or near the Post Production stages of the movie.

Star Wars 9 director rumored coming from Jurassic World

Star Wars 9 director rumored coming from Jurassic World

One "special guest" set to be in attendance tonight at Disney's official Star Wars panel has been tipped: Colin Trevorrow. This is the director of Jurassic World and Safety Not Guaranteed - so calling him a quickly rising star would be a gross understatement. At this point on Twitter, Trevorrow has said absolutely nothing about SDCC - no mention whatsoever - and hasn't said anything about any subject since the 5th of July. While an absence of Tweets isn't a guarantee of anything, the director of one of the biggest pop-culture phenomenons of the year not saying anything about Jurassic World happenings at the biggest comic convention of the year isn't exactly normal. He's probably in San Diego right this minute.

Comic-con (SDCC) is known for releasing big news in all sectors, and as it was the very first place where the original "The Star Wars" film was revealed, we wouldn't put it past Lucasfilm and Disney to bring the big guns to the last SDCC before the new trilogy begins with Star Wars: The Force Awakens. As it happens, we've go the translation for this bit of script handy.

WITNESS CONAN drive to SDCC in the Mad Max DOOF Wagon

It's time to head to Comic-con - Conan O’Brien has already begun his journey in a MAD MAX vehicle. Those of you that've already seen the newest Mad Max movie will recognize this as the DOOF Wagon. That's the vehicle that plays music for the war party in the 2-hour chase sequence that spans the entire film. While Conan might not have his eyes gouged out like the real Doof guitar player, he's got the head bandages, the red jumpsuit, and the fire guitar to make the part his own.

Star Wars Uprising gameplay shows age after “Jedi”

Star Wars Uprising gameplay shows age after “Jedi”

Earlier this year Lucasfilm and Disney revealed that "Star Wars: Uprising" would be one of several games that'd forge the future of the film franchise. In-game players would take on the role of a rebel rising up against the Empire immediately following the destruction of the second Death Star. That means this game takes place immediately following Return of the Jedi. Now we get our first brief glimpse of gameplay. Just keep telling yourself that just because it's mobile, it doesn't have to be meaningless - this game is going to have real consequences.

Toys”R”Us’ entire Comic-Con Exclusive toy lineup

SDCC exclusive toys begin to appear with Toys"R"Us at the helm, bringing on everything from Batman to Mortal Kombat X to Star Wars. What we're seeing here is a number of "exclusives" that aren't entirely exclusive to the event, thank goodness, including one massive toy set from the Star Wars Black Series from Hasbro. That's the most elite of the US-based Star Wars action figure lines here in the United States, coming correct with 3 3/4-inch inch figures and an ever-so-slightly-taller Rancor. What a beast.

ThinkGeek celebrates International Sushi Day with Star Wars and Trek

It's time for International Sushi Day, and as they're prone to do, ThinkGeek has made with the appropriate gear to mount up. This year's celebration of this rather fishy event is joined by one Star Trek-themed accessory and a couple from the Star Wars saga. First up is the Star Trek U.S.S. Enterprise Sushi Set, complete with a wood sushi plate, chopsticks, and soy sauce dish. This is no simple affair - it's real wood and real metal - officially licensed by the folks behind the original Star Trek TV series.
