In the Apple vs Samsung court case that’s been taking place over the past three weeks here in the USA, it appeared that Samsung would be taking the heaviest damages as a 1 billion 51 million 855 thousand dollar damages verdict was delivered against them. Apple would have their side of the verdict read against them soon after Samsung’s list of infringements against Apple’s patents, but at the end of the first half, Samsung took the heat.

In SEA, STA, and SEC, Samsung was found of willful patent infringement in many, many cases. Damages were listed by device, each of them a Samsung wallet emptier here upon Samsung’s very visible defeat.

• Infuse 4G: $44,792,974
• Prevail: $57,000,000+
• Mesmerize: $53,123,612
• Replenish: $3,350,256
• Transform: $954,060

And the list continued item by item until it was Apple’s turn to see if there were any infringements on Samsung patents. These patents had (and have) to do with utility patents and will one way or another not nearly be as expensive for Apple as Samsung’s damages have already been. This trial will almost certainly be seen as a major victory for Apple – stay tuned to SlashGear in our legal tag link to see the results as they continue to be unleashed.

In the Apple vs Samsung court case going on this month it appears that the iPhone company has struck a heavy blow with expert witness Peter Bressler. This man is a former President of the Industrial Designers Society of America and a current fellow of that group, a co-author of over 60 design and utility patents, and an active faculty member at the University of Pennsylvania where he teaches integrated product design classes. Because of this list of achievements and accolades, Bressler’s words as witness in this court case will certainly ring true to the jury. In this case, Apple calling Bressler to the stand to testify is very, very bad news for Samsung.

What Bressler has been asked is whether the devices Apple is presenting are similar enough to the patents they own that they’d could be considered infringing. Some of the devices brought up in the questioning are the following – each of these device names are linked back to our reviews of said devices so you can get a closer look if you’d like:

• the original iPhone
• Samsung Galaxy S 4G
• Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 LTE
• Samsung Infuse 4G
• iPad 1 and 2

You can also see some comparisons between the original Samsung Galaxy S and the iPhone 4 here: iPhone 4 hands-on Review as well as here: white iPhone 4 hands-on.

When questioned by Apple, Bressler “walked the jury through” three iOS device patents and described the patents in detail to the jury according to The Verge. One patent showed off the iPad’s flat face, rounded corners, and black border under the tablet’s front glass panel. Another of the three patents described the flat front face of the iPhone, while a third described the rounded corners and bezel that existed in the first iPhone released to the market.

Bressler’s testimony compared the iPhone patents to the Samsung Galaxy S 4G. Bressler made it clear that he felt Samsung’s design to be not so fabulous when it comes to originality when it comes to being viewed by “regular consumers.” Bressler noted specifically:

“It’s my opinion that this phone, the design of this phone would be considered substantially the same” – Bressler

Similar connections were made when Bressler continued while Apple’s representation showed their iPad patent set side-by-side with the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 LTE specifically. Bressler pointed out a number of “alternative designs” for tablets (a collection of tablets that we’re trying to get a list of now – hold tight), showing how each of them were “clearly different” from Apple’s iPad and each of the patents that surround it.

Samsung was allowed to cross-examine Bressler, showing the industrial design expert at least four different examples of “prior art” that they felt were similar to the iPhone’s front face. Bressler did not agree with Samsung’s line of questioning, saying Samsung’s comparison was an “improper analysis.” Bressler noted that these comparisons (we must assume they looked something like this) could not be taken with only one single, straight-on image as Samsung appeared to be relying on.

Samsung then spoke (represented by Charles Verhoeven in this case, by the way), about the flat, flush glass face of the iPhone as well as the original iPhone’s unique bezel. He showed the jury two devices at the same time as questioning Bressler about them: the Infuse 4G and the Galaxy S 4G.

For the Infuse 4G, Samsung showed that the glass face is not completely flush as each iPhone has been since the first (as seen above.) For the Galaxy S 4G, Samsung contended that the device’s bezel “flares” when viewed from the bottom or the top of the phone.

Bressler was having none of it, saying that the patents at hand did not work in the way Samsung was suggesting. Instead, Bressler said, they had to take into account the “ordinary observer” – aka the “regular consumer” as well as the “overall impression” the devices presented.

Stay tuned as the Apple vs Samsung case continues and millions (if not billions) of dollars are held up in the air, ready to drop into the wallet of the winning manufacturer of lovely smart devices. Check the timeline to see several stories leading up to this point in time as well – don’t miss a thing!

Earlier today we reported that Samsung had been reconsidering everything about itself as a device manufacturer, from the way it uses information technology to the way it merges and acquires other companies to the definition in its AMOLED screens. The latter point may be the most interesting in this case, especially since the term Super AMOLED HD, that being one better than Super AMOLED Plus is one that’s been spoken in regards to the next generation in the brightest display on the planet. With this news comes word that Samsung will be shrinking down the size of full high-definition screens to fit inside larger smartphones – brightness awaits!

I remember a few years ago when Apple really started cranking up the brightness and the clarity with which one was able to see content on a laptop or desktop computer. I swore I’d always take the average mid-range device at the time because I was working in web publishing from a site designer perspective and I always wanted to be able to see things through the average viewer’s eyes. Since then I’ve come to know the glory of the truth: the biggest and the best is indeed the biggest and the best. I’m currently using a newest-generation MacBook Pro with non-glare cover and WOW we are living in the future. Just a glimpse over at any of my family member’s computers from just a couple years ago and the yellowness of reality brings me back out of the cloud of bright, happy wonderfulness.

The same is true about using the Samsung Infuse 4G, the smartphone with the largest and brightest display on the planet right this moment. The Infuse 4G utilizes a 4.5-inch Super AMOLED Plus display right now at 480 x 800 pixels resolution. The amount of pixels per inch is therefor smaller than the Galaxy S II, but since we’re talking about big screens at the moment, let’s stay on topic with the Infuse.

What Samsung is talking about doing now, according to OLED-Info which we also quoted this morning in the Samsung Competitiveness post, is 720p 1280 x 720 resolution displays jammed into tiny 5- to 7-inch displays. The same “industry insiders” responsible for that info, one of them supposedly a Samsung supplier, say that 720p displays are possible at that size because of new PenTile matrix technologies and “a refinement in the production process that has also seen Super AMOLED HD become cheaper than previous versions.” Numbers they’re presenting show the cost of a Super AMOLED HD panel to be around 20 percent less than a comparative S-LCD screen.

The original source for the Super Amoled HD screen says thusly:

We can expect 5″ to 6″ smartphones in fall 2011 (the first will probably be the GT-I9220 with a 5.3″ display) and 7″ tablets by the end of 2011.

We’ve heard of the GT-I9220 before, once on a leaked Samsung roadmap which was later claimed inaccurate by Samsung and once again in our dreams.

But then there’s some decent. There are those of the public that maintain 4-inches to be the maximum size for a smartphone device to be optimum, that anything larger should be called a tablet. I’ve got an old college buddy named Frank who says that any device with a display larger than 4 inches shouldn’t ever have a cellular bands. I certainly disagree as I’ve used the Infuse 4G more than once in my travels to different events to see new phones because it’s big enough to watch a movie on whilst flying home in the night on the plane. Coupled with some nice earbuds, this phone is utterly optimum for such an activity.

On the other hand, there’s the pocket space factor, and the fact that if you bring such a giant phone out in public while you’re traveling, you run the chance of getting mugged for it because you cannot hide the brightness. You decide! The war rages on!

It appears quite obvious that the following photos are of the newest variant of the Samsung Galaxy S II, this time in what’s called the Samsung Hercules. This device will, if proven to confirm specs rumored thus far, be T-Mobile’s first HSPA+ 42Mbps device and will have an 8 megapixel camera on the back, a lovely silver (metal?) single-piece battery cover, rounded corners, and what appears to be a bit of a curved glass front. If not curved, certainly expanding in width near the bottom of the front.

There’s of course a camera on the front as well, and if these photos are indeed correct, will be rocking the TeleNav GPS app out of the box and will have model number SGH-T989. Three of these photos come from TmoNews, the front, the back, and the model number, and the TeleNav image comes from PocketNow. The PocketNow image(s) look to be slightly less expanded near the bottom of the display, but this could just be the camera angle at which they’ve all been photographed.

This device, the Samsung Hercules, has been tipped as a 4.5-inch display-toting ultra-fast handset with Netflix also pre-installed. We’ve got another image of this device courtesy of mobilesyrup that appears to match up, this one showing that lovely look at TouchWiz 4.0 we’ve been waiting to see here in the USA. We heard about the Hercules back on May 18th in a leaked T-Mobile roadmap, right before that in a report that called the Hercules “like the Infuse 4G, but dual-core.”

We’ve got a full review of the original Samsung Galaxy S II as it exists out there in Europe as a carrier-free version. You can purchase this device right now if you wish, tossing in a compatible SIM card to use it as a USA device, but you’ll be dropping over $500 USD. Should you wait until this device is released in many iterations to carriers here in the USA, you’ll be more than likely looking at more like a $200 price tag or something right around there, give or take $100.

AT&T has been offering a handy U-Verse Mobile app that lets customers watch TV shows and schedule recordings directly from their smartphones. The app is already available to several devices, but today the company has expanded the selection to include the Samsung Infuse 4G, the LG Thrive, LG Phoenix, and the HTC HD7S.

With the new Android and Windows Phone device additions, the U-Verse Mobile app is now available on more than 20 devices and four major operating platforms. The number of TV shows available in the U-Verse Mobile library has also expanded to include over 100 TV series and more than 700 TV shows from various genres.

The app lets subscribers browse the U-Verse TV guide, schedule and manage DVR recordings, and watch TV shows directly on their smartphones. However, to watch TV shows, customers must subscribe to a qualifying TV plan.

Amazon has done it again. They’ve slashed prices generously as only they have been known to do, and this time it’s for the Motorola Atrix 4G, the Samsung Infuse 4G, and the LG Revolution. If you’ve been pining for one of these powerful 4G LTE smartphones, now’s the time take action. Amazon is dropping prices to as low as $0.01!

Amazon has dropped pricing to $89.99 for the Samsung Infuse 4G, which currently retails from the AT&T website for $199.99 with a two-year contract. The Infuse is a 4G HSPA+ device introduced for the AT&T network back in May. It’s the largest yet thinnest device on the network sporting a whopping 4.5-inch Super AMOLED Plus display, 1.3-megapixel front camera, 8-megapixel back camera, and a 1.2GHz Hummingbird processor. Make sure to check out our hands-on with the device as well as the full review before you head over to Amazon to scoop it up.

Pricing is now $99.99 on Amazon for the LG Revolution, which currently goes for $249.99 with a two-year contract on Verizon’s website. The LG Revolution was the first device capable of running on Verizon’s 4G LTE network. It features a 4.3-inch display with a 1GHz Snapdragon processor, 1.3-megapixel front camera, and 5-megapixel back camera. Check out our full review of the device before you head over to it’s Amazon page.

Most drastic of all, however, is Amazon dropping the Motorola Atrix 4G to just $0.01 while it still costs $99.99 from the AT&T website. The Atrix is the oldest of the bunch, launching back in February. It features a 4-inch qHD display, NVIDIA Tegra 2 processsor, VGA front camera, and 5-megapixel back camera. Also, be sure to check out our full review before heading to its Amazon page.

- Thanks Doug!

The Samsung Infuse 4G was unveiled last month as the thinnest smartphone with the largest display in the AT&T lineup. It was also released as the first HSPA+ enabled device on launch for the carrier. If you’ve been wanting this phone, now you’re in luck because Amazon just gave it the usual price slash treatment.

Amazon has dropped the price to $129.99 with a new two-year service agreement. However, do note this deal is only good for new service agreements. For existing contracts, the phone is priced at $179.99, which is still better than the $199.99 original price you’d get from the AT&T online store. Also, its not certain how long the deal will last or if it’s only a Memorial day weekend sale. As of this writing, the deal is still on.

The Samsung Infuse 4G features a bright and crisp 4.5-inch Super AMOLED Plus display with a 480×800 resolution, 8-megapixel back camera, 1.3-megapixel front camera, and measures only 8.99mm at its thinnest. It’s powered by a 1.2Ghz processor and has 16GB internal storage, expandable with microSD. Make sure to check out our full review for the device.

Samsung must hand over samples from its current and incoming smartphone and tablet range, along with marketing materials, to Apple’s legal team as part of an “expedited discovery” process to see whether allegations of design similarity are accurate. That’s the ruling of San Jose Federal Judge Lucy Koh, Courthouse News reports, who brought forward access to the Samsung Galaxy S II, Galaxy Tab 10.1, Galaxy Tab 8.9, Infuse 4G and DROID Charge after Apple “produced images of Samsung products and other evidence that provide a reasonable basis for Apple’s belief that Samsung’s new products are designed to mimic Apple’s products.”

However, contrary to some reports, neither Apple nor its in-house legal team will actually get to see any of the Samsung hardware. Instead, the judge limited access to “Outside Counsel Eyes Only” meaning it will be Apple’s retained lawyers, Morrison & Foerster, who get to pick through the Samsung kit.

“In particular, the design and appearance of Samsung’s forthcoming products and packaging are directly relevant to Apple’s trademark, trade dress, and design claims. Because these claims are subject to consumer confusion and “ordinary observer” standards, the products themselves and the packaging in which they are sold are likely to be central to any motion for preliminary injunction” Court Order

Although Samsung argued that early access – even to an external legal team – could be “prejudicial” to its own sales success, Judge Koh highlighted the company’s Google I/O Galaxy Tab 10.1 Limited Edition giveaway and “evidence that Samsung has already released images and samples of its forthcoming products to the media and members of the public.”

Samsung now has 30 days to hand over product samples, packaging and package inserts, though Judge Koh stopped short of deposing the company’s executives. That’s despite Apple citing Samsung exec Lee Don-Joo who admitted the company was taking its tablets back to the engineering labs to “improve the parts that are inadequate” – particularly the thin build – when compared to the then-new iPad 2.

Remember the Samsung Infuse 4G with the ginormous 4.5-inch touchscreen recently announced for AT&T? Well, now it seems Samsung is readying another one of these big boys for T-Mobile. Codenamed Samsung “Hercules,” this new smartphone is said to be nearly identical except that it will sport a dual-core processor and support faster HSPA+ speeds.

The Samsung Hercules still has quite some time before it’s even slated for carrier testing and likely won’t be accepted until mid-August. But that doesn’t keep its specs from our prying eyes. Thanks to Thisismynext, we know that the device will indeed have a 4.5-inch 480×800 Super AMOLED Plus display and will come running Android 2.3 Gingerbread.

The device measures in at 5.16 x 2.76 x 0.37 inches, pretty much the same dimensions as the the Infuse 4G. It will have 16GB internal ROM, 1GB internal RAM, will be expandable up to 32GB via microSD, and will support NFC. It will have an 8-megapixel primary back camera with flash, capable of 1080p HD video capture, and a secondary front camera.

The Hercules seems quite similar to the Infuse 4G but differs in its supported network speed and in its processor. It will support Category 24 HSDPA (42Mbps) and Category 6 HSUPA (5.76Mbps) for a fast HSPA+ speed superior to that of the Infuse 4G or any other current HSPA+ phone sold in the U.S. It will have AWS and 850/1900MHz compatibility to support AT&T’s 4G network should the merger go through. And, it will have a more powerful Qualcomm 1.2GHz dual-core processor.

Samsung’s Hercules sounds awfully mighty, but it will pack a mighty price tag as well. The device is slated to be in the “over $350″ category, although it’s uncertain whether that means off-contract or not.

At the Samsung/AT&T event today, the Samsung Infuse 4G was officially announced, and slated to be available May 15th. Our hands-on is here. It was also called the “first phone to support hspa+/hsupa at launch”. It has a dual antenna, just like the Motorola Atrix, but unlike the Atrix, it will have HSUPA enabled at launch. 4G comes in many different flavors, not all created equally. Read on for more details.

AT&T does 4G on its HSPA+ network, and has faced criticism since it didn’t have HSUPA enabled on the Atrix at launch, even though the capability was there. Even now, as AT&T has claimed that HSUPA is up and running, many have been disappointed in the upload speeds the Atrix is showing. And with the HTC Inspire 4G and Motorola Atrix 4G, AT&T has lowered the bar on “4G” to speeds of 14.4 Mbps. These same speeds can be seen on 3G devices, such as the iPhone 4.

Verizon has unquestionably been able to put up the fastest 4G speeds on its 4G LTE network, with the Thunderbolt, and now the Droid Charge. We will see as we do the full review of the Infuse 4G how its speeds stack up. We have high hopes for the Infuse, with its huge Super AMOLED screen, and super thin construction. But not all 4G flavors are created equally, and the proof will be in the speed tests.

We’ve known Samsung’s Infuse 4G was coming to AT&T since CES 2011 back in January, but the vast 4.5-inch Android smartphone still has the power to surprise in the hand. Fresh from its official debut in New York today, the Infuse 4G has the biggest Super AMOLED Plus screen we’ve seen to-date, but still manages to be the carrier’s thinnest handset. Read on for our first impressions.

The display and the slimline chassis are the two most obvious elements, and indeed the Infuse 4G is a combination of several well-esteemed Samsung devices of recent weeks. Just as on the Galaxy S II and DROID Charge, the Super AMOLED Plus – with its 50-percent extra sub-pixels – is eye-searingly bright, color saturated and clear. It may not run at qHD resolution but its WVGA is crisp and smooth.

Physical design is much in line with the Galaxy S II, a narrow slice of handset with only a slight lip on the bottom rear edge to spoil the lines. It’s plastic, but the build is sturdy and creak-free. Gone is the GSII’s physical Home button, to make room for an all-touch row of four Android keys – menu, home, back and search – while up next to the earpiece is a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera.

Unfortunately the Infuse 4G runs Android 2.2 out of the box – complete with TouchWiz – so there’s no Gtalk video call support to actually take advantage of that camera. We’ll have to wait for Samsung and AT&T to upgrade the smartphone to Android 2.4 before we can end our reliance on third-party video calling apps like Qik and Fring.

The 1.2GHz Hummingbird processor may not be the dual-core of the GSII but it’s still enough to keep Froyo moving swiftly. Android looks impressive blown up to 4.5-inches, though we can imagine the Infuse 4G will be too big for many users. We’ll have to wait to see how well AT&T’s HSPA+ network performs when we have more time with a review unit; previously we’ve not been as impressed as with Verizon’s LTE, though both carriers are pumping investment into boosting speed.

In all, we can’t really argue that Samsung isn’t on a roll right now. The Galaxy S II is a masterful flagship, the DROID Charge managed to skirt the line between LTE performance and reasonable battery life, and now the AT&T Infuse 4G is offering its own combination of that unique Super AMOLED Plus screen quality paired with a super-thin build. We’ll have to put it through its paces in a full SlashGear review to be sure it’s top-quality, of course, so for now enjoy the hands-on gallery and video from today’s launch.

DALLAS, May 5, 2011 — AT&T* and Samsung Telecommunications America (Samsung Mobile), the No. 1 mobile phone provider in the U.S., today announced the upcoming availability of the Samsung Infuse™ 4G.

Key Facts
•	Exclusive to AT&T customers, the Samsung Infuse 4G will be the nation’s thinnest 4G smartphone at 8.99mm at its thinnest.
•	Delivers the largest display in AT&T’s smartphone portfolio with a brilliant 4.5-inch screen featuring next-generation Super AMOLED™ Plus technology.
•	Powered by a 1.2 GHz processor and the Android™ 2.2 platform, the Samsung Infuse 4G also boasts an 8-megapixel camera, and a $25 credit to download movie content from Samsung Media Hub.
•	Pre-loaded version of Angry Birds features an exclusive hidden level for Infuse 4G customers.
•	Samsung Infuse 4G will be available in AT&T company-owned stores and online at www.wireless.att.com on May 15 and will cost $199.99 with a two-year contract and no mail-in rebate. (Minimum $15 data plan required)

Customer Benefits
The Samsung Infuse 4G will be the thinnest 4G smartphone available in the U.S. and will feature the largest screen — at 4.5 inches — in AT&T’s smartphone lineup, and the largest touch screen on any Samsung phone. Powered by a 1.2 GHz application processor and running the Android 2.2 platform, the device delivers a brilliant display using Samsung’s next-generation Super AMOLED™ Plus technology which features 50 percent more sub-pixels for better contrast. The display also offers unmatched outdoor viewing quality, even in the brightest sunlight.

With the Infuse 4G, Samsung and AT&T are raising the stakes on pre-loaded content that is not available on any other device. In collaboration with Rovio, the Infuse 4G will feature a special edition of Angry Birds pre-loaded on the smartphone. Players can unlock a special “Golden Egg” level of the game, and once the special level is completed, users can register to win Samsung prizes exclusive to Infuse 4G users.**

The smartphone also includes an 8-megapixel camera/camcorder with auto-focus and flash that shoots HD video with incredible detail. A front facing camera is perfect for self portraits or video chat. Customers can also watch hit movies and TV shows from preloaded apps like Samsung Media Hub, U-verse Mobile and U-verse Live TV.

The first 500,000 Infuse 4G units sold will include a $25 voucher for consumers to get started on downloading content from Media Hub. With Media Hub’s progressive downloading feature, users can start watching their content almost immediately as the rest of the file downloads to the Infuse 4G. Plus, all Media Hub content can be shared among five Media Hub-enabled devices on the same account. The Infuse 4G also comes with a 2GB microSD card with preloaded trailers for upcoming summer movies.

Compatible with the Infuse 4G and other devices on the Android 2.2 platform or better, AT&T has also launched a new, fun app called JustUs. The app combines both social media and text activity from five favorite contacts into an animated wallpaper, keeping users better connected with those that matter most. Customers can download the app for free in Android Market today.

Quotes
“The 4.5-inch screen on Infuse 4G is enhanced further with Samsung’s Super AMOLED Plus technology. Colors are rich and bright, even while outdoors in sunlight,” said Jeff Bradley, senior vice president, Devices, AT&T Mobility and Consumer Markets. “When you juxtapose that with the fact that it’s the thinnest 4G smartphone out there today, it’s an incredibly compelling choice for our customers.”

“When you combine the powerful 1.2 GHz application processor with AT&T’s advanced 4G network, this device will truly be the fastest smartphone Samsung has ever created with AT&T,” said Omar Khan, chief technology officer & chief product officer for Samsung Mobile. “The Infuse 4G is our latest example of Samsung’s global leadership in Android platform smartphones. With every Android smartphone that we launch, we’re bringing something new and exciting to the market.”

Smartphone Portfolio
AT&T is a pioneer in smartphones and devices and expects to widen its portfolio in 2011. In January, AT&T committed to introducing 20 4G devices and 12 additional Android devices by the end of the year. Samsung Infuse 4G will be one of several new 4G devices that have been offered to AT&T customers in the first half of 2011.

Samsung Infuse 4G Accessories
To prepare for the arrival of the Samsung Infuse 4G in AT&T stores, the company has prepared a robust lineup of 14 fashionable and functional accessories including multiple case options, a vehicle mount and desk mount. All accessories are available in AT&T company-owned stores and online at www.wireless.att.com. For more details on the lineup visit www.att.com/mobilephones-news.

We’re here at the Samsung AT&T event, and the big announcement is…the Samsung Infuse 4G. Philip Berne has called this phone “remarkably light”, weighing less than the Nexus S, even with a screen that’s half an inch larger, and with a bigger battery. Plus, it has that stunning, tear-inducing Super AMOLED Plus display that we love so much on the Droid Charge. If AT&T can get this on the market super quick, they might be the first to do so.

A few more specs here: This phone sports a 4.5-inch screen, running Android 2.2 Froyo, and with a RM Cortex A8 1.2GHz processor. It has an 8MP camera on the back and 1.3MP camera on the front. This most definitely is the precursor to the Samsung Galaxy S II. It will be $200 on contract and will be coming out on May 15th.

They’ve also slipped in an announcement that there’ll be an Angry Birds contest coming up somehow or another tied in with the phone. It appears that the gameplay (if this slide is any indication) will be exactly the same, but perhaps a hidden Infuse in some eggs or boxes? Who can tell?

We’ve got a hands on and unboxing coming imminently, so stay tuned, and expect a full review before the weekend. Park it right here, because we are throwing out all the details as they happen.

This morning, we are looking forward to the Samsung Event at 4pm EST. Will it be the Infuse? Will they announce a date for the Galaxy S II for the US? The hot new phone has been selling like crazy in South Korea, and our review unit knocked our socks off. We’ll be sure to let you know what happens at the event. Meanwhile, Samsung has revealed a “hybrid tablet” with SENS-240 navigation. But how useful is it, really? The incomparable Chris Davies has a great column this morning analyzing Verizon’s Bliss “phone for ladies”. Really Verizon? Aren’t we ladies smart enough to download our own apps? Also, Acer news, ARM chips, Microsoft denying updates and taking on Apple (again), the NOOKcolor 3G, Anonymous and other hackers, and much more after the cut.

The Acer Iconia Tabs A100 and A101 are set to launch on May 14th, but they price themselves out of the market?

ARM’s frugal chips are gaining popularity. IDC has estimated that ARM chips will be in 13% of computers by 2015. Look out Intel.

Does anyone wear a watch anymore? Most of us just pull out our phones to check the time. Fossil is hoping to change that with the Meta Watch, which gives you updates right on your wrist. Good luck with that one.

Microsoft makes two ham-handed moves. One, they are not issuing the next WP7 update to those poor WP7 users who dared jump ahead in line for their NoDo update. It just isn’t in their schedule. Second, they are trying to take on Apple with their “Do the Math” campaign, but using broad strokes and not really helping consumers make an educated decision.

Barnes & Noble confirms their new ereader, possibly a NOOKcolor 3G is due out May 24. Will this NOOK be even more like a tablet?

LastPass has been hacked, and information stolen, so be sure to change your passwords if you use the service. Also, Anonymous has again said they are not behind the PSN attack, despite the use of the “We are Legion” calling card, and have been framed by others trying to direct attention to the group.

Skype has suitors aplenty, Facebook and Google are reportedly interested in buying them. Or will they do an IPO?

Best Buy would rather its employees just let shoplifters walk out with laptops, apparently. Our commenters think they should take a clue from Walmart, whose security guys are “stone cold bounty hunters”.

Apple may be phasing out DVDs, making the Mac App Store the venue of choice for software purchases. Further modernizing their distribution, according to sources at Verizon, Apple is said to be planning OTA update capability with iOS 5.

Last, in case you missed it, you can get super-awesome Android Community Wallpapers for your phone or tablet. Be the coolest one on the block.

On the back there’s an 8-megapixel camera while a 1.3-megapixel camera on the front does video call duty. It’s a slim device, despite the screen size, with AT&T describing the Infuse 4G as being the carrier’s slimmest handset.

We don’t know a huge amount about Super AMOLED Plus, beyond Samsung saying it increases the number of sub-pixels for more detail and better outdoor visibility. The AT&T Samsung Infuse 4G is expected to arrive later in 2011.
