Good news and bad, today, for those hoping for Samsung's i5700 aka the Galaxy Lite.  According to dial-a-phone, the i7500's little sibling has been pushed back into 2010, rather than launching later on in 2009 as originally planned, so as to give its bigger sibling more chance to rack up sales. Android phones are coming out all over the place, ranging from the basic Android device, all the way up to HTC's Sense UI, which made us all take a second look at what Android was capable of. And we're happy to see the open source Operating System (OS) getting some of the lime-light, especially so quickly. And while HTC has beem the main proponent to Android's availability on the market, other manufacturers are quickly clamoring to get their piece of the pie. Motorola has two handsets reportedly coming out, the Verizon-bound Sholes (or Shules, whichever you think doesn't sound ridiculous when you say it aloud), and the T-Mobile Morrison, which is a lower-end device. HTC likely thought there was little that could shadow their Magic launch during the first half of the year, but they didn't count on the Samsung I7500.  Packing a similarly-slimline QWERTY-free chassis and raising the stakes with an AMOLED touchscreen and higher resolution camera, the I7500 has already swayed quite a few people away from the Magic over at Android Community.  Now, thanks to CNET Asia, we've the first sighting of both smartphones up close with each other. A second video demo of the Samsung I7500 Android smartphone has emerged, this time the handiwork of Tech65.  As we saw in the first video, it's the AMOLED touchscreen that really makes the I7500 stand out: at 3.2-inches and 320 x 480 resolution it's the same size and pixel count as on the HTC Magic and T-Mobile G1, but we're hoping for better overall runtime along with the brighter colors. Android roadmap tips T-Mobile G1 v.2 “Bigfoot” and Samsung Houdini

T-Mobile USA's roadmap for Android devices has leaked, suggesting that the HTC Magic - aka T-Mobile myTouch 3G - will hit the market over the summer, priced at $179, and be followed in the fall by two new handsets.  Firstly, for QWERTY lovers, the G1 v2 "Bigfoot", and also the Samsung Houdini. The same team that shot the Samsung I7500 demo video yesterday have followed up with a photo set of the Android smartphone's controls, ports and connectivity.   One shot - of the I7500 with its battery compartment cover removed - shows the GSM SIM slot and microSD card slot, both of which appear to require the battery's removal before they're changed. Video of the Samsung I7500 Android phone has emerged, showing off just how impressive an AMOLED display can be.  The 11.9mm-thick smartphone is not set to arrive in Europe until June, but that hasn’t stopped one lucky tester from flaunting his own pre-production handset.

Samsung I7500 Android phone hits O2 Germany in June

Tipped over the weekend, O2 Germany have officially announced their first Android handset, the Samsung I7500.  The I7500 has a 5-megapixel camera with an LED flash, paired with a 3.2-inch 320 x 480 AMOLED touchscreen, HSPA, GPS and WiFi b/g. There's also Bluetooth 2.0, a 3.5mm headphone socket and a microUSB port, squeezed into a body that measures just 115 x 56 x 11.9 mm.  The usual array of Google applications are present, including GMail and the Chrome Lite browser, together with the Android Market for downloading further titles.
