Apple gets Samsung Galaxy devices banned in the Netherlands

The Apple-Samsung saga continues, folks. Today, a Dutch court has now banned several Samsung Galaxy devices from selling in the Netherlands. Apple has been rewarded the ban from the court because Samsung was accused of infringing on an Apple patent relating to the navigation interface in photo galleries.

Leaked image purported to be Galaxy Axiom smartphone

Samsung has seen widespread success with its Galaxy S III smartphone, prompting the company to create the spin-off Galaxy S III Mini unit. The new handset was launched in the UK a few days ago, and is apparently slated for the US as the Galaxy Axiom. Unfortunately, name change aside, it still has the same disappointing specs. After announcing a few Windows Phone 8 devices a couple days ago, like the Nokia Lumia 920 and the 8X from HTC, the carrier is continuing on with an announcement of even more toys. Samsung rumored to launch Tizen-based Galaxy smartphone

Apple vs Samsung Japan: no patent infringement found yet

Today it appears that Samsung has been found free of any patent infringement in at least one part of their mobile device patent court case against Apple in Japan. There are several cases still being fought in matters relating to Apple and Samsung patents and design rights around the world, as it were, Japan only the most recent to release a partial verdict. This week the Jury Foreman behind the Apple vs Samsung court case that's been taking place over the past few weeks has spoken in an interview to Bloomberg. This video interview has Jury Foreman Velvin Hogan speaking on the lawsuit itself, moments during the deliberation, some of the jury's "a-ha moments", and a bit more on the final verdict they ended up reaching. The video also includes Hogan speaking again on "more than just a slap on the wrist", a punishment for Samsung when patent cases are otherwise only supposed to bring renumeration for the patent holder - in this case Apple. For those of you wishing to stay in the Apple vs Samsung trial in the heat of the battle will love to see the highlights in Apple’s closing statement, complete with a few clips from a document that very well may have Samsung on the ropes. This document is what Apple calls the “copycat” document and was acquired by Apple from Samsung’s internal design process labs, a massive set of pages that include the screenshots you see here. Samsung “icon theft” images shown by Apple

This month the epic court war of Apple vs Samsung is taking place and the newest battle is in: Apple is presenting a set of slides which accuse Samsung of straight up copying their designs for mobile device icons.
