Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 To Be Thicker Than iPad 2 Due To Supply Shortage?

, Jun 10th 2011 Discuss [11]

Although Samsung and Apple are business partners when it comes to Apple's components, their recent legal battle has only fueled the already fierce competition in smartphones and tablets. When Apple first unveiled their slimmed down iPad 2 that measured only 8.8mm thin, Samsung went back to the drawing board and cut down their Galaxy Tab 10.1 to only 8.6mm thin. But now there are reports that due to some components supply shortages may force Samsung's Galaxy Tab 10.1 to end up being thicker than the iPad 2. Read The Full Story

Samsung commercial pokes fun at iPad 2′s lack of Flash

Here we go again. It seems like most of the tablet makers on the market today think that they can toss a tablet out that is similar to the iPad on a different OS and just sell droves of the things because the tablet supports Flash. I think that the gigantic lead the iPad 2 has in the tablet market should show other makers that they need more than Flash support to beat Apple in the tablet game. If they offered a tablet for a lot less money than the iPad 2 with similar specs and Flash support, then they get my attention.

Apparently, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and 8.9 will not hit Europe until August. This isn’t a delay since Samsung has not promised a launch day for Europe yet. Read The Full Story

Apple wins early access to Samsung phones/tablets in copycat case

Samsung must hand over samples from its current and incoming smartphone and tablet range, along with marketing materials, to Apple’s legal team as part of an “expedited discovery” process to see whether allegations of design similarity are accurate. That’s the ruling of San Jose Federal Judge Lucy Koh, Courthouse News reports, who brought forward access to the Samsung Galaxy S II, Galaxy Tab 10.1, Galaxy Tab 8.9, Infuse 4G and DROID Charge after Apple “produced images of Samsung products and other evidence that provide a reasonable basis for Apple’s belief that Samsung’s new products are designed to mimic Apple’s products.”

Galaxy Tab 10.1 Review (Limited Edition)

Samsung helped lead the Android tablet charge last year, with the original Galaxy Tab, a 7-inch slate which even Google admitted may have been released before the OS was ready. Now, with Android 3.0 Honeycomb tablets like the XOOM, G-Slate and Eee Pad Transformer on the market, Samsung is back with its second attempt, the larger Galaxy Tab 10.1. Heavily reworked – even after its first official appearance – in order to better compete with the iPad 2, Samsung has high hopes that this is the slender slate to knock Apple off its pedestal.
