Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 Sales Blocked in Europe by Apple

It appears that Samsung has been blocked in a very major way by Apple via the European Union as the fruit-based group has issued a preliminary injunction against the Galaxy Tab 10.1 for violation of intellectual rights in regards to the original iPad. This device had also been launched just last week in Britain, where it must also be removed from shelves and all sales stopped for the time being. The Regional Court of Dusseldorf has granted Apple this preliminary injunction and sales of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 must be stopped across the entirety of Europe except for the Netherlands.

Samsung’s TouchWiz for Galaxy Tab 10.1 update goes live

The TouchWiz update for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 has gone live, being pushed out OTA to the 10-inch slate this morning just as the company promised. Previewed in an NYC event earlier this week, the new software adds the custom TouchWiz UI Samsung has developed for tablets (and which you can see in video form after the cut) along with various enterprise-centric features, some new apps and the addition of Swype.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 hits UK today; Tab 8.9 on August 12?

Samsung's Galaxy Tab 10.1 has officially arrived in the UK, with the WiFi-only version of the slate on sale today, while the 3G-enabled variant is due to hit carrier shelves on August 23. Meanwhile, the Galaxy Tab 8.9 has found itself a (tentative) release date, in the UK at least, with online retailers suggesting the 3G version of the slate is expected from August 12. Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 TouchWiz update due OTA on August 5

Samsung has detailed the update process for the Galaxy Tab 10.1 WiFi-only slate, which as of Friday August 5 will bring the TouchWiz UI, Flash Player 10.3 and Samsung's latest Media Hub to the Honeycomb tablet. TouchWiz consists of multiple Live Panels with widgets laid out like magazines, offering easy access to news, weather, social networking and multimedia. Samsung denies Australian Galaxy Tab 10.1 sales freeze [Updated]

Samsung has moved to clarify the situation regarding sales of its Galaxy Tab 10.1 in Australia and the agreement it came to with Apple earlier this week, denying that the settlement will delay the launch of the Android slate. According to Samsung’s official comment, AusDroid reports, the “mutual agreement” between the Korean firm and Apple only covers sales of the US version of the Galaxy Tab 10.1, a variant it never intended to offer in Australia.

Samsung freezes Galaxy Tab 10.1 launch in Australia in Apple suit

Samsung has agreed to freeze sales and advertising of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 in Australia until its patent infringement suit with Apple has been settled. The moratorium was agreed by the two companies' legal teams during a break in court proceedings, Bloomberg reports, rather than as an injunction handed down by the judge, and if Apple later loses the infringement case then it has agreed to pay damages to Samsung for the loss in sales. Verizon's version of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, aka their 4G LTE model, has been confirmed for July the 28th, aka two days from the day this post is posted. This is not the first time this tablet has been released into the wild, as a Wi-Fi edition, but it is the first time it's been connected to a carrier, and certainly the first time it's been on Verizon. Samsung denies granting Anymode Smart Case approval amid Apple copy accusations

Samsung has denied certifying the contentious Anymode folding Smart Case for the Galaxy Tab, and has had the Apple-alike product pulled from the retailer's site.
