This week the folks at ChangeWave have shown off their quarterly consumer smartphone report, showing none other than Samsung as the big winner as far as market growth goes in the USA. This North American report covers the quarter leading up to the beginning of 2013, with the last quarter reported being December of 2012. This report asks several key questions, the main one being if those polled plan on purchasing a smart phone in the next 90 days, and if so, which one they'll get.

Galaxy S IV tipped for May 2013 by Samsung
This week the folks at Samsung Lebanon have not only confirmed the existence of the next-generation Samsung Galaxy IV, they've suggested a release date as well. Responding innocently to a question on the brand's Facebook page, Samsung noted that "The Galaxy SIV won't be released before May 2013." They also suggested that what they'd said was no secret, and that everyone know that Samsung releases devices according to a basic schedule.

Samsung Galaxy S IV render leaks with no on-screen buttons
The next-generation Samsung Galaxy S IV has been tipped with a photo of a rendering that, while it may look professionally done, is simple enough in its aesthetic quality that it could have been mocked up rather easily. That said, this SamMobile release's attached details present an interesting prospect for the future, starting with no on-screen buttons, much like the last two Google Nexus devices and the Motorola lineup of late. After that it's all big-time upgrades.

Samsung fixes Exynos security hole in latest Galaxy S III software update
IF you're a Galaxy S III user, then we hope you heard about the Exynos 4 security hole that was discovered a few weeks back. While this flaw allows users to root their device with a single click, it also could potentially let malicious apps take full control of those devices, as it grants access to all of the phone's physical memory. So, there was a plus side, but the negatives to this security issue far outweighed that little perk.

Samsung Galaxy S III bricking issue fix appearing “as soon as possible”
It would appear that we're getting closer and closer to a fix for the phantom bricking of the Samsung Galaxy S III that we've heard washings of over the past few weeks in forums galore. Predictions for Google’s Android in 2013: Freedom for All!
At the start of 2012 the folks at Google were seeing their beloved Android mobile operating system being used on more iPhone clones than we’d care to discuss – near the turn-over to 2013, big manufacturers like Samsung and HTC have made their own hero lines the likes of which Android has never known. The offer, available to Samsung owners in the US, requires users to register their handset on the company's Facebook Owner's Hub, with a "customized care package" of accessories in return. Samsung Galaxy Note II Black tipped for 2013
The Samsung Galaxy Note II has appeared in a bit of a leaked photo of a new color for the hardware this week - black! This version of the device will quite likely be appearing at Mobile World Congress 2013 along with additional tweaks and additions of greatness to the already-popular Samsung Galaxy Note II and Galaxy S III lineup out now across the globe. This device is currently available in what the manufacturer calls Pebble Blue as well as Marble White through several carriers and off-contract both domestically and internationally.
