EE reveals first 4G LTE line-up: Galaxy S III, iPhone 5 teaser

EE has revealed its first line-up of devices, including Samsung's Galaxy S III, as well as hinting at a possible iPhone 5 LTE reveal imminently. The heavy Apple hint was dropped during the new 4G carrier's launch in London, with chief exec Olaf Swantee teasing that there was a new device "very soon." However, the new iPhone isn't the only device EE subscribers will be able to use: there's a range from Nokia, HTC, Huawei and more.

Apple started sending out invitations for the event today, using a picture that gives away what to expect at the event (spoiler alert: the iPhone 5 is coming). With an iPhone 5 reveal essentially confirmed, analysts are predicting success for the new handset, saying that it could potentially sell 10 million units this quarter. Galaxy S III knocks iPhone 4S from US top spot (but iPhone 5 looms)

Apple's iPhone 4S has been knocked from the US smartphone sales top spot by Samsung's Galaxy S III, retailer checks suggest, though the fast-approaching iPhone 5 may well flip things back in Cupertino's favor. August was the first month that the iPhone 4S wasn't the best-selling smartphone in the US, Canaccord Genuity analyst T. Samsung Galaxy S III adding support for Orange and Barclaycard mobile payments

European carrier Orange and Bayclaycard have announced a new team up today that will soon let Samsung Galaxy S III owners make Quick Tap NFC mobile payments with their phones. This new service is headed to the UK, and it will be available to "new and upgrading" Samsung Galaxy S III users on September 5. Orange and Barclaycard are touting the Orange Galaxy S III as "first Android device to feature Quick Tap contactless payment technology."

The USA legal case between Apple and Samsung has been amended to add several devices including the original Galaxy Note, Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet, and Galaxy S III. This complaint does not yet include a request for a ban on these products, but does make it clear that Apple wishes to include them in the set of Samsung devices that Apple says infringes their patent rights. The full list also includes such devices as the Galaxy S II, Galaxy Nexus, and Galaxy Player devices as well.

An update to your Samsung Galaxy S III and Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 are right around the corner in the form of Android 4.1 Jelly Bean - so says Samsung. It's at IFA 2012 that the company made the announcement that the software would be hitting both devices "very soon" as it were, with the Samsung Galaxy Note II having been announced earlier in the event they spoke at as coming with Jelly Bean right out of the box. This duo of devices currently works with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.
