Samsung Galaxy S II ships 3m in 55 days, setting new company record

Samsung has announced that it has sold three million of its Galaxy S II smartphones in 55 days, setting a new record for the company and meaning a GSII was bought every 1.5 seconds. That's without official North American availability; the Galaxy S II - which has a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 4.3-inch Super AMOLED Plus display and is the thinnest smartphone on the market at 8.49mm thick - is yet to go on sale in the US, though carrier versions have been well rumored.

Samsung Galaxy Z distills GSII spirit into cheaper model

Samsung Galaxy Z distills GSII spirit into cheaper model

Details of Samsung's latest Android smartphone have emerged, with the Samsung Galaxy Z going up for pre-order in Sweden. The 4.2-inch WVGA smartphone is effectively a slimmed-down version of the Samsung Galaxy S II, bridging the gap between it and last year's Galaxy S. It has a Super Clear LCD display, rather than Super AMOLED Plus, and a 1GHz dual-core processor, rather than 1.2GHz on the GSII.

Samsung Galaxy S II Plus 1.4GHz Upgrade Tipped as Global iPhone 5 Competitor

As the Android world reels in awe of the awesomeness of the new king of Google mobile OS power, the famed Galaxy S II appears now to have an upgrade coming at or before the USA release. If you'll look below the second paragraph in the post you're reading now, you'll see a benchmark run on the standard Galaxy S II that's out on the world market right this moment. This benchmark shows that the Galaxy S II as it exists today is the clear forerunner for most powerful Android device benchmarked thus far. What we've come to understand today is that, if "sources in Asia" are to be believed, there's an even more powerful Galaxy S II coming soon.

Details of a number of new CDMA phones have leaked, including the Samsung Epic 2 and what could well be the WiMAX version of the Samsung Galaxy S II, aka the "Galaxy Within." According to This is my next's source, the Epic 2 - which will replace last year's Epic 4G - with a 4-inch display, 1.2GHz single-core Hummingbird processor and an 8-megapixel camera, as well as a slide-out QWERTY keyboard of course, will drop sometime in Q3 2011.

Samsung denied early iPad 3/iPhone 5 access but Apple sales injunction hopes fade

Disappointment in the courts for both Apple and Samsung this week, as neither company gets its own way in the ongoing legal spat over design copying and patent infringement. Samsung's demands to see Apple's unannounced iPad 3 and iPhone 5 - which prompted accusations of harassment from the Cupertino company -have been denied, FOSSpatents reports; however, it also looks unlikely that Apple will secure a preliminary injunction against Samsung products going on sale in the US.

What Do You Get A Dad That Has Everything?

What Do You Get A Dad That Has Everything?

It’s Father’s Day and I wish dads out there a wonderful day with your sons and daughters. I never understood my father’s love as well as the sacrifices he made until the arrival of my daughter, Allison, a little over a year ago. That being said, it’s nice having one day out of year where dads all over the world are being shown how much they’re appreciated. Giving presents or a Father’s Day card is the norm and presents can range from a drawing to an expensive flatscreen TV.

Samsung Galaxy S II Official Accessories Review

Samsung's Galaxy S II smartphone blew us away with its combination of dual-core performance, impressive Super AMOLED Plus display and super-slim dimensions, beating the HTC Sensation to the market. They're joined by Case Mate's "Barely There" Tough Case, too. Check out our full review after the cut.

Report of Verizon Releasing Galaxy S II in July is Just a Rumor

Report of Verizon Releasing Galaxy S II in July is Just a Rumor

Reports that Verizon will be launching Samsung’s Galaxy S II next month are not correct. Apparently Verizon was originally quoted as saying the Galaxy S II will be released in July, when they later clarified their statement saying they actually meant the Samsung Galaxy Tab would appear in July. The carrier will still probably release the Galaxy S II, just at a later date. We have been looking forward to the US release ever since we got our hand on the European version back in April. We will just have to wait a little longer.

It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s Ironmandroidflash!

It’s not uncommon to find little hidden pictures and other content in the ROM of some of the mobile devices we all use. There are always some geeks that will poke through the ROM to find the little Easter Eggs and then share them for us all to look at and wonder WTF. The WTF moment for today is here with the unearthing of the pic below.

Samsung streams TV to Galaxy S II with new Smart View app

Samsung has finally got around to releasing its Smart View app, which allows certain Smart TVs from the company's range to stream content to its Android phones. Leaked Samsung Galaxy S II I9101 is different under the hood

Earlier this week some spy shots of a new Samsung Galaxy S II smartphone with model number I9101 surfaced. We speculated at the time that the device might be the SII we have been expecting with NFC tech onboard. Spec sheets for the smartphone have turned up via the Samsung Singapore Facebook page and they show that the hardware inside the phone is very different form the existing SII.
