Samsung Unpacked Teaser Hints at Galaxy S II Upgrade [Update: VIDEO]

What we've been lucky enough to get a glimpse of today is a teaser video for Samsung's "Unpacked" event at IFA 2011 in Berlin. The video at this very moment appears to have been switched back to Private, but what we've seen is essentially a new version of the Samsung Galaxy S II "light" videos which incidentally revealed to us our very first look at the Galaxy S II back in February. What we're basically betting the farm on here is that this is a slightly updated version of the Samsung Galaxy S II that's able to work with 4G LTE bands.

HTC Ruby to be Named HTC Amaze 4G on T-Mobile

As you may or may not know, every device has at least two names - one that its manufacturer gives it, this name sometimes never seeing the light of day, and a second name which a carrier may give it. In the case of the HTC Ruby, we may never see the device be released with the lovely jewel name attached to it - instead today we've got news that this cool futuristic mother of a smartphone will be dubbed "HTC Amaze 4G" for its release on USA carrier T-Mobile, and may well be released right alongside the Samsung Hercules relatively soonish. Sound like a done deal to you?

It appears that Samsung will be joining the squad of Android device ready for rough tumbling, water dunking, and the rest. This device appears very much to be running a brand new version of Samsung's TouchWiz interface over Android and certainly will be running Android 2.3.x Gingerbread upon release. This device is next in line right after the recently Tegra 2 confirmed Samsung Galaxy R which we saw NVIDIA give a hands-on treatment to this morning and will be released very soon.

Samsung Galaxy R gets Hands-On Treatment from NVIDIA

The handset part of the NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual-core processor-toting Android family is expanding, this newest member making the total five with a whole slew of tablets already out there in the wilderness as well. We've gotten to review each and every one of these devices: Motorola ATRIX 4G, Motorola DROID X2, Motorola PHOTON 4G, T-Mobile G2X by LG, and now the Samsung Galaxy R, each of them rolling out with the NVIDIA Tegra 2 Super Chip, that being a dual-core processor with access to the NVIDIA Tegra Zone, mobile apps which work ONLY with Tegra-enhanced devices. With its 4.19-inch WVGA Super Clear LCD touhscreen, Gingerbread Android operating system, and 5 megapixel camera on the back, this device is shaping up to be the herald of the Galaxy S II, will it stick around for the party?

Three new Android-based devices have been leaked for release in the USA, the first of which is destined to be another iteration of the soon approaching Samsung Galaxy S II. All of the following information comes from an anonymous tipster lending some logo-marks to the fray in a two-tone look at the Samsung Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch (aka the longest name for a handset in the history of the world,) HTC EVO Design 4G, and Motorola Admiral. The tipster offers no additional information on any of the devices in this short list, but many conclusions can be inferred.

Samsung Hercules Revealed as Galaxy S II Variant

It appears quite obvious that the following photos are of the newest variant of the Samsung Galaxy S II, this time in what's called the Samsung Hercules. This device will, if proven to confirm specs rumored thus far, be T-Mobile's first HSPA+ 42Mbps device and will have an 8 megapixel camera on the back, a lovely silver (metal?) single-piece battery cover, rounded corners, and what appears to be a bit of a curved glass front. If not curved, certainly expanding in width near the bottom of the front.
