, Jun 27th 2011 Discuss [26]

As the Android world reels in awe of the awesomeness of the new king of Google mobile OS power, the famed Galaxy S II appears now to have an upgrade coming at or before the USA release. If you’ll look below the second paragraph in the post you’re reading now, you’ll see a benchmark run on the standard Galaxy S II that’s out on the world market right this moment. This benchmark shows that the Galaxy S II as it exists today is the clear forerunner for most powerful Android device benchmarked thus far. What we’ve come to understand today is that, if “sources in Asia” are to be believed, there’s an even more powerful Galaxy S II coming soon.

Samsung denied early iPad 3/iPhone 5 access but Apple sales injunction hopes fade

, Jun 22nd 2011 Discuss [2]

Disappointment in the courts for both Apple and Samsung this week, as neither company gets its own way in the ongoing legal spat over design copying and patent infringement. Samsung’s demands to see Apple’s unannounced iPad 3 and iPhone 5 – which prompted accusations of harassment from the Cupertino company -have been denied, FOSSpatents reports; however, it also looks unlikely that Apple will secure a preliminary injunction against Samsung products going on sale in the US.

What Do You Get A Dad That Has Everything?

It’s Father’s Day and I wish dads out there a wonderful day with your sons and daughters. I never understood my father’s love as well as the sacrifices he made until the arrival of my daughter, Allison, a little over a year ago. That being said, it’s nice having one day out of year where dads all over the world are being shown how much they’re appreciated. Giving presents or a Father’s Day card is the norm and presents can range from a drawing to an expensive flatscreen TV.

AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II prematurely confirmed?

AT&T's Samsung Galaxy S II has seemingly been prematurely pictured by Samsung Singapore, confirming the incoming dual-core smartphone by showing the carrier-branded version sitting pretty in its desktop docking cradle. The super-popular 1.2GHz dual-core smartphone is yet to make its official debut in the US, though Samsung is expected to offer versions via the main four carriers. Read The Full Story

Report of Verizon Releasing Galaxy S II in July is Just a Rumor

Reports that Verizon will be launching Samsung’s Galaxy S II next month are not correct. Apparently Verizon was originally quoted as saying the Galaxy S II will be released in July, when they later clarified their statement saying they actually meant the Samsung Galaxy Tab would appear in July. The carrier will still probably release the Galaxy S II, just at a later date. We have been looking forward to the US release ever since we got our hand on the European version back in April. We will just have to wait a little longer. Read The Full Story

Samsung Galaxy S II 1080p 30Mbit/s video hack released

Remember the Samsung Galaxy S II hack we told you about yesterday that allowed for 1080p 24Mbit/s video recording on the Android smartphone? As we hoped, it’s spawned a new package for GSII owners wanting to boost video quality, with original dev hyperX working with xda-developers’ Potatoman (who had already released an audio quality tweak for the phone) on a way to persuade the Samsung to record up to 30Mbit/s Super Fine 1080p HD at 30fps with 48Khz/192kbps audio.

Samsung Galaxy S II gets 1080p 24 Mbit/s recording hack [Updated]

Samsung’s Galaxy S II has been coaxed into recording higher-quality video than the 1080p Full HD it supports out of the box, with a modder better known for his work on Symbian cameras turning his attention to the Android smartphone. hyperX added continuous auto-focus and 720p 30fps recording to the Nokia N8 back in 2010, but has now persuaded the GSII’s 8-megapixel camera to record 24 Mbit/s 1080p at 30fps complete with 44.1khz 192-bit audio.
