We’ve received a surprised in the mail today, one that we certainly weren’t expecting as no solid facts on the following device have been set yet. In a regular ol brown box with a big Samsung logo pasted on top, there was a small black box. Was it what the top of the box said it was? Was it the legendary Galaxy S II here in America?! No way, it’s something much more strange. Samsung today sent us a Galaxy S II Telescope. A tiny little reminder that the Galaxy S II was soon approaching, coming soon to a carrier (or carriers?) near you!

Samsung Galaxy S II passes 5m sales worldwide

Samsung’s Galaxy S II smartphone has passed the 5m sales point, the Korean company has announced, besting the sales records of the Galaxy S it replaced. It took Samsung just 85 days to hit this latest milestone, and the company predicts the 10m sales point will be reached well in advance of the seven months it took the Galaxy S.

Samsung Galaxy S II Coming to USA via Verizon First, So Sayeth Mueller

Industry analyst Paul Mueller spoke today on the Samsung Galaxy S II, noting that according to his intel, the device will be coming out extremely soon, and with Verizon as a carrier about a month before anywhere else. He spoke rather specifically, saying that the Galaxy S II would very possibly be in the states in mid August (2 to 3 weeks from now,) and that Samsung would indeed be marketing the device directly against the iPhone. It appears that in addition to the HTC Puccini 10-inch tablet having its press images leaked today, there's another AT&T-bound device hanging in the rafters. This handset is a Samsung device by the looks of it, employing a slide-out keyboard, an 8-megapixel camera on the back with a flash and speaker grille, textured battery cover, and by the looks of its model number SGH-I927, may well be a variant of the hottest Android device in the world, the Galaxy S II. Samsung Galaxy S II August US launch confirmed

Samsung has confirmed that it expects the Galaxy S II Android smartphone to be on sale in the US in August, though no details on carriers or pricing has been shared. Mobile business president Shin Jong-kyun revealed the launch window at a media briefing in Korea this week, Yonhap News reports, likely only weeks before arch-rival Apple is expected to put the iPhone 5 on sale.

Samsung Mobile loses CTO responsible for GSII and Galaxy Tabs

The executive arguably behind Samsung’s dominance in Android over the past eighteen months is leaving the company, its been revealed. Omar Khan, who has been CTO at Samsung Mobile and was instrumental in the best-selling Galaxy S and Galaxy S II smartphones and Galaxy Tab series of tablets, is moving to Citigroup, TDG reports, where he will be responsible for the company’s global digital banking efforts.

US carriers ignoring Samsung Galaxy S II over Moto/HTC bias?

US carriers have reportedly been dragging their heels over the Samsung Galaxy S II because of bias toward CDMA devices from rivals Motorola and HTC, a new Korean report claims, with a Samsung executive admitting that “negotiations with American telecom companies have dragged on.” The Galaxy S II – of which Samsung sold 3m in the first 55 daysof availability – still has no estimated release date in the US, a fact which Chosun Ilbo‘s sources claim is down to carriers having “a better alternative” from alternative firms.
