, May 9th 2012 Discuss [0]

Samsung's Galaxy S II Skyrocket was arguably the best Android phone on AT&T, right up until the HTC One X was released this weekend. The company had planned a successor to the phone, the Skyrocket HD, which would bump the phone's 4.65-inch screen screen up to a full 1280x720 resolution. But speaking to reporters at CTIA in New Orleans, Samsung marketing director Ryan Bidan said that the phone had been cancelled, giving the new Galaxy S III's greater specifications as the reason. T-Mobile ICS updates lost on Samsung

, Apr 24th 2012 Discuss [0]

It seems that everyone with a Samsung phone or tablet will be getting an upgrade to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich soon, with some limits, except for basically the entirety of T-Mobile. Sad as it may seem, Samsung's big list of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich upgrades today appears very much to have been relegated to everyone except for T-Mobile. T-Mobile Samsung devices that otherwise might have been upgradable at the moment include the Exhibit II 4G, Galaxy S Blaze 4G, and the Galaxy S II in white and titanium, each of these being suspiciously absent from the updates list. Vodafone has come to terms with the software update that will bring all users of the Samsung Galaxy S II up to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich this week. As all those using devices connected to mobile networks will tell you, it's either a pain or a blessing when a software update comes through - especially when it's Android. Samsung: unlocked Galaxy S IIs will be last to receive ICS

, Apr 4th 2012 Discuss [0]

The Ice Cream Sandwich update process began for UK versions of the Samsung Galaxy S II last week, although it seems to have been limited to network handsets for now. CNET managed to get in touch with Samsung and ask why unlocked handsets were being left out in the cold. Shouldn’t they be first in line to get the update? As it turns out, they’re using network handsets as guinea pigs to test the update for SIM-free handsets. Read The Full Story

Samsung Galaxy S III non-Pentile 720p AMOLED tipped

, Apr 4th 2012 Discuss [0]

More mystery and intrigue around the hotly-anticipated Samsung Galaxy S III, as Korean news reports tip not only a 4.65-inch 720p display like the Galaxy Nexus, but a move away from the much-maligned pentile panel technology. According to DDaily, the upcoming Galaxy S III will use a Super AMOLED Plus display running at 1280 x 720 for 316ppi density – only a little short of the iPhone 4S’ Retina Display – but not using the reduced pixel count that pentile forces. The rumors tally with talk that another recently rumored device, the GT-i9300, is indeed a midrange model not the Galaxy S III.
