Samsung smartphone security exploit gets official fix “quickly”

, Dec 19th 2012 Discuss [3]

A software venerability in the Samsung Exynos processor family that resides in your Galaxy Note II and international Galaxy S III has had an official response from the manufacturer today assuring a quick fix. This software update fix will be coming down relatively soon (we hope) as the possible security exploit would allow a malicious program to access the innards of your smartphone via its RAM and either destroy the device’s contents or harvest them for its very own.

iPhone and iPad banned in South Korea with Samsung GSII

, Aug 24th 2012 Discuss [6]

In one of the more extreme case endings we've seen thus far in the near-global mobile patent court battle between Apple and Samsung, South Korea has banned nearly every device up for trial. The Seoul Central District Court has ruled that both Samsung and Apple must remove major products such as the Galaxy S II and the iPhone 4 from the market immediately. Samsung sued Apple to begin this case back in April for telecommunications standards patents and Apple responded by counter-suing for mobile device interface patents in its iPhone and iPad. Samsung Galaxy S II 4G, Rush, and Array hit Boost Mobile

, Aug 22nd 2012 Discuss [5]

There's a couple of Samsung phones coming to Boost Mobile in the 4G universe, the first being the Samsung Galaxy S II with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and the second being the Galaxy Rush. There's also the Samsung Array, a QWERTY keyboard device with a 2.0 megapixel camera and a 2.4-inch LCD display - that's not quite a smartphone like the other two, but it's ready for the carrier's $45 Talk & Text Unlimited Plan anyway. The Galaxy S II is coming with Ice Cream Sandwich for the first time EVER as well - unless you're a hacker, of course. Read The Full Story

Samsung Galaxy S II Plus appears with Exynos processor

, Aug 20th 2012 Discuss [3]

This week the fabled Samsung smartphone model known as Galaxy S II Plus has shown its face once again, having disappeared from the news circuit for several weeks only to show up in model form with a few more specifications here well into the age of the Galaxy S III. While it might not seem too sensible for the manufacturer to produce a device that's essentially the same as the Galaxy S II, a legacy device at this point, here with a larger display, they may well have their reasons. Perhaps preparing this device for markets that've not yet seen any Galaxy devices, much less the II or III, here comes the 4.5-inch display-toting dual-core Galaxy S II Plus. Read The Full Story
