Alleged Samsung Galaxy Note II front panel spotted

Alleged Samsung Galaxy Note II front panel spotted

More and more details seem to be emerging of Samsung’s Galaxy Note II as we creep closer to the company’s IFA 2012 event on August 29th. This time it’s a leaked case part, with nowhereelse.fr throwing up an image of what seems to be the front panel for the handset, complete with a ruler in order to judge the screen size. The screen seems to come in at around 14 cm diagonally, which would confirm the 5.5-inch screen size that has been alluded to in previous reports.

SlashGear Evening Wrap-Up: August 8, 2012

SlashGear Evening Wrap-Up: August 8, 2012

We've officially reached the middle of the week, folks - only two more days to go and then the weekend is here once again. Today we didn't have too many stories about the ongoing trial between Apple and Samsung, but what we did get was huge. A rather damning 132-page report surfaced in court today, which shows Samsung attempting to differentiate the original Galaxy S from the iPhone specifically, and we looked at the difference between competitive analysis and flat out copying as a result of the report. On the lighter side of things, Conan O' Brien had a bit of fun with the trial on last night's show, so be sure to give that a look.

Samsung sets sights on stylus to beat iPhone and iPad

Samsung sets sights on stylus to beat iPhone and iPad

Samsung is set to have a pen-happy August with the arrival of styli-stroked slates large and small, as the company attempts to bypass the iPad and iPhone and establish its own niche. Challenging Apple's full-sized tablet is the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1, announced back in February and finally hitting shelves worldwide this month in WiFi-only and HSPA+ flavors; however, long-standing rumors suggest a smaller "phablet" is also in the pipeline for an August reveal, replacing the Galaxy Note.

SlashGear Evening Wrap-Up: August 3, 2012

Welcome to the weekend, everyone! We're about ready to dive into the weekend ourselves, but not before we deliver the evening wrap-up. As with every other day this week, today gave us some more news about Apple's patent trial with Samsung, with Judge Lucy Koh interviewing each and every one of the jurors to make sure they weren't being swayed by any outside influences. Apple's senior VP of worldwide marketing Phil Schiller took the stand today to convince the jury that the iPhone's design was unique, while the company's legal counsel did its best to make sure that Samsung didn't share any iPhone sales numbers. Judge Koh also said that Apple wasn't allowed to keep its customer survey results a secret, so Samsung did get a bit of news that could help it out as the trial progresses.

Samsung August 15th event teases new Galaxy Note form factor

Samsung August 15th event teases new Galaxy Note form factor

This week we've gotten an invitation to an event that'll take place on the 15th of August right here in the United States well before the IFA 2012 event that'll take place later in the month. What the invite appears to tease is a whole new form factor for the Samsung Galaxy Note lineup - perhaps the 10.1 Galaxy Note tablet, perhaps a new larger 5.5-inch Galaxy Note phablet - or perhaps something altogether new. Clues include the ever-so-thin lines around the device shown in the invite which make for a mobile device, a pen of some sort, and maybe even a built-in cover.
